Alibaba Cloud ACP Cloud Computing: retired exam and its successor

Alibaba Cloud retired the ACP Cloud Computing certification on 13 May 2025 and replaced it with Cloud Architect (Professional), exam CAP-C01. The ACP exam can no longer be taken; certificates earned before retirement stay valid until they expire. The successor exam costs USD 200 and has 50 questions in 90 minutes with a passing score of 70 out of 100.

ACP Cloud Computing was Alibaba Cloud’s professional-level certification for cloud computing. Alibaba Cloud describes it as designed for people familiar with cloud computing and with a rich operational knowledge of Alibaba Cloud products, covering core services including architecture, networking, cloud security and best practices.

Alibaba Cloud listed the audience as junior to mid-level solution architects: people who already work with Alibaba Cloud and want a credential that shows they can operate its core services, not just name them.

Is the ACP Cloud Computing certification retired?

Yes. Alibaba Cloud states that the ACP Cloud Computing certification was retired on 13 May 2025 and that the new certification, Cloud Architect (Professional), is available in its place.

Alibaba Cloud’s update announcement gives the full timeline: end of sales on 13 February 2025, end of life on 13 May 2025 and a grace period that ended on 13 August 2025. During the grace period eligible learners could contact Alibaba Cloud Academy to convert exam codes or retake the exam on the new content. That period is over, so the ACP Cloud Computing exam cannot be taken any more.

What replaced ACP Cloud Computing?

The successor is the Alibaba Cloud Certified Professional: Cloud Architect, exam code CAP-C01, which Alibaba Cloud lists as replacing ACP Cloud Computing. Alibaba Cloud describes the role behind it as someone responsible for designing and implementing scalable and resilient solutions on Alibaba Cloud.

The shift is from a product-knowledge exam to a role-based one. Where ACP Cloud Computing was framed around Alibaba Cloud’s core services, Cloud Architect (Professional) is framed around designing solutions with them. Alibaba Cloud publishes an exam outline for CAP-C01 as a download and recommends an English exam preparation course for it.

Cloud Architect (Professional) exam: cost, questions and passing score

Alibaba Cloud lists the CAP-C01 exam at USD 200.00. It has 50 questions, a duration of 90 minutes and a passing score of 70 out of 100 points, and it is available in English.

As with the old ACP exam, you choose on the exam platform whether to take the test offline or online. Alibaba Cloud does not list a formal prerequisite on the certification page, so check the exam outline before booking.

ACP Cloud Computing exam format (before retirement)

For reference, Alibaba Cloud’s retired ACP page still shows the old format: 70 questions in 90 minutes, a passing score of 65 out of 100 points, and English as the available language. Candidates chose between an offline and an online test on the exam platform.

Comparing the two, the successor exam is shorter in question count, 50 instead of 70, keeps the 90-minute duration and raises the passing score from 65 to 70 out of 100. Anyone who studied for the old ACP exam should expect less time pressure per question but a higher bar to pass.

ACP Cloud Computing exam rules

Two rules on the retired ACP page are worth knowing because they describe how Alibaba Cloud ran its professional exams: 14 days were required between taking any two professional exams, and the exam was non-refundable.

Alibaba Cloud does not repeat these rules on the Cloud Architect (Professional) page that could be read for this article. Check the current exam policies on the exam platform before you schedule CAP-C01.

What happens to existing ACP Cloud Computing certificates?

If you already hold ACP Cloud Computing, it does not disappear on the retirement date. Alibaba Cloud states that holders of retiring certifications keep their certificates valid until they expire, and that certificates obtained before end of life are still valid for two years.

What you cannot do is renew it. Alibaba Cloud explains that after end of life recertification is not possible, because the exams are no longer offered. To hold a current professional credential after your ACP expires, the route is the Cloud Architect (Professional) exam.

What did the ACP Cloud Computing exam cover?

Alibaba Cloud did not publish a weighted domain list on the ACP page that could be read for this article. Its description names the areas: Alibaba Cloud core services, architecture, networking, cloud security and best practices.

Those areas carry over into the Cloud Architect role. Designing scalable and resilient solutions still depends on choosing the right compute, storage and network services, securing them and operating them well, so knowledge built for ACP is a reasonable starting point for CAP-C01.

Alibaba Cloud ACP Cloud Computing exam dumps

Dumps for the ACP Cloud Computing exam are of no use now: the exam was retired in May 2025, so there is nothing left to sit. Dumps for the successor are no reliable preparation either, because nobody can show their answers match the current CAP-C01 outline.
