CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure study guide
CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure is earned with two exams: the 350-401 ENCOR core exam and an eight-hour, hands-on lab exam taken in person. This guide orders your preparation around what Cisco actually publishes — the exam topics, the lab blueprint, the official practice options and the booking rules — rather than around any one book or course.

Start with the two documents that define the scope
Cisco publishes two scope documents, and every other study resource should be checked against them. The first is the ENCOR exam topics list on Cisco’s Learning Network, which covers the written core exam. The second is the CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure lab exam blueprint, currently v1.1, which covers the lab.
The lab blueprint has five weighted domains. Use the weights to divide your lab preparation, and note that Cisco states candidates are expected to program and automate the network within the exam — automation runs through the whole lab, not just its own 15% block.
- Network Infrastructure — 30%
- Software-Defined Infrastructure — 25%
- Transport Technologies and Solutions — 15%
- Infrastructure Security and Services — 15%
- Infrastructure Automation and Programmability — 15%

Phase 1: pass ENCOR
ENCOR comes first for a practical reason: you cannot schedule the lab without it. Cisco asks for the date you passed the core exam and your passing score on it when you book. ENCOR is a 120-minute written exam, offered in English and Japanese, and it can be taken online.
Passing ENCOR also starts a clock. Cisco’s policy requires you to complete all requirements for a certification within three years of passing the qualifying written exam. Plan your lab preparation so that it fits comfortably inside that window, with room for a second attempt.

Phase 2: build lab skills on real or virtual equipment
The lab tests whether you can plan, design, operate and optimise dual-stack (IPv4 and IPv6) solutions for complex enterprise networks over eight hours. Reading cannot replace hands-on repetition, so the core of this phase is time on equipment — your own virtual lab, or Cisco’s.
Cisco’s own options, from its expert certifications page: CCIE Practice Labs at US$50 per four-hour slot, Graded Labs at US$1,000 or 10 Cisco Learning Credits, and the Cisco Expert Prep Program, listed as free. Cisco U. offers learning paths, practice labs on real Cisco products, pre- and post-assessments and practice tests for this certification.

What Cisco’s practice labs can and cannot tell you
Cisco describes its CCIE Practice Labs as online, hands-on environments with pre-configured scenarios that simulate the actual CCIE exam environment. It is equally clear that the practice lab does not replicate the exact questions or difficulty of the live exam.
Use them to get fluent in the environment and to find weak blueprint domains, not as a prediction of your score — Cisco does not publish a passing score for the lab in any case. You can book practice sessions up to four months ahead, with one scheduled session active at a time.

CCIE lab exam booking: how it works
CCIE lab exam booking runs through Cisco’s Expert Level Certifications Lab Exams Portal, not through the system you used for ENCOR. Before you start, have ready a valid Cisco user account, the ID you used to register for your written exam, the date you passed the core exam, and your passing score on it.
Labs can be booked up to six months in advance, which makes the booking part of your study plan: pick a date far enough out to finish Phase 2, but early enough to secure a seat at the location you want. Pass ENCOR before the CCIE lab exam. Book only once you know you can meet that date, because a failed lab means a 30-calendar-day wait before you can schedule the same lab again.

Lab locations and travel
For most candidates the CCIE study plan has to include travel. Cisco lists expert lab facilities in Bangalore, Beijing, Brussels, Dubai, Singapore, Richardson (USA), Sydney and Tokyo, plus mobile labs. If you are planning a CCIE study abroad trip around the lab — sitting it in another country — remember that Cisco’s fees are per attempt and do not include travel and lodging.
The lab fee is US$1,600 at Cisco testing facilities or at mobile labs with the Bring Your Own Device option, and US$1,900 at mobile labs using the Cisco kit option. Arrive rested: it is an eight-hour exam, and Cisco runs pre-lab security screening before you start.

Before you book: check for changes
Cisco states that a new CCIE lab exam module to integrate with AI tools is underway, and it publishes no date or format for it yet. Re-read the exams and training page and the current blueprint version shortly before you book, so the lab you prepare for is the lab you sit.
Once certified, the credential is valid for three years and can be renewed with Continuing Education credits or by retaking exams before they expire.

Where Certsqill fits
Certsqill’s CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure question bank covers the knowledge side with expert-developed practice questions, an explanation for every answer option and a readiness score per domain — useful for ENCOR and for checking blueprint knowledge, while the lab itself still needs hands-on equipment.
