What is the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Security Professional certification?

It is the professional-level security credential in Oracle University’s OCI programme. Oracle says the certification and its course are designed for security professionals, solution architects, IT administrators and cloud engineers — in short, anyone who is responsible for securing workloads on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Oracle describes the exam as one that evaluates your practical skills in creating and configuring OCI security services. That is the key difference from a knowledge test: you are expected to set things up in a live environment, not only to recognise the right answer in a list.

The exam number has a history worth knowing when you read older material. The 1Z0-1104 family goes back to 2021, and Oracle has refreshed it roughly once a year since then, with a new suffix for each version (-24, -25 and now -26).

Which OCI Security Professional exam is current in 2026?

Oracle’s exam catalogue lists a 1Z0-1104-26 exam page for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Security Professional. That page loads only with JavaScript and could not be read for this guide, so this page does not quote a question count, duration or passing score for the 2026 exam.

Two other signals point the same way. Oracle’s MyLearn pages for the 2025 learning path and for the 2025 Security Professional course both carry the notice that they will be archived on 30 September 2026. And on 10 August 2026 Oracle University published its 2026 update for OCI certifications: titles and logos no longer include the calendar year, and Professional-level courses now require paid access.

Practically, that means: if a study plan, a course or a set of notes refers to the 2024 or 2025 exam, check it against the current exam page before relying on it.

OCI Security Professional exam format and passing score

Oracle calls this a Hands-on Performance Exam (HPE). Its 2025 announcement says it directly: like Architect Professional, Security Professional is an HPE exam. You solve practical challenges by configuring OCI security services, and the exam adds multiple-choice questions on top.

For the 2024 version Oracle published the numbers: 2 HPE challenges and 25 multiple-choice questions, 90 minutes in total, with a passing percentage of 65%. For the 2025 version Oracle placed the exam details in an image that could not be read, and for the 2026 version the exam page did not load.

The passing score has moved between versions before. For the 2021 version of the exam, Oracle University gave the passing score as 66%. Treat 65% as the figure for the 2024 version, not as a promise for the exam you will sit.

Since 90 minutes has to cover both hands-on challenges and the multiple-choice block, time management matters as much as knowledge. Practise the console tasks until they are routine, so that the challenges do not eat the time you need for the questions.

How much does the OCI Security Professional exam cost?

In August 2025 Oracle University wrote that, for the core Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications at associate and professional level, the exam attempt costs US$245, and it listed OCI Security Professional among those core certifications.

Oracle has changed its pricing model since then: with the 2026 update the OCI Architect Associate course and certification became free, while Professional-level courses moved to paid access. No Oracle source that loaded on 14 October 2026 states a current price for the 1Z0-1104-26 exam itself, so check the price on the exam page during registration.

Oracle’s fraud policy is also a cost factor: candidates found committing fraudulent activities forfeit all fees previously paid to Oracle.

What is on the OCI Security Professional exam?

Oracle structures the course and exam around five domains. The 2025 refresh kept that structure and added new lessons, among them Zero Trust Packet Routing, OS Management Hub, IAM optimisation and Object IAM, troubleshooting security issues, and new hands-on scenarios covering Security Zones, OCI certificates and Network Firewall.

OCI Security Professional prerequisites

Oracle does not list a formal prerequisite certification in any source that loaded. The 2025 learning path expects a foundational-level understanding of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and knowledge of basic cloud computing and security concepts, and the course page asks you to be familiar with the basics of OCI.

In practice, the hands-on format raises the bar. You should be comfortable in the OCI console with compartments, policies, networking and compute before you start, because the exam asks you to configure security on top of those building blocks.

Official OCI Security Professional study materials

Oracle’s own preparation route is the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Security Professional course inside the learning path. For the 2025 version, Oracle said the exam preparation section contains seven practical scenarios, the hands-on labs comprise 16 practical exercises, and a practice exam is included.

The course outcomes include identity and access management, network security controls such as firewalls, certificates and load balancers, scanning instances for vulnerabilities, and using Data Safe to assess risks and secure data.

Two caveats for 2026: the 2025 learning path and course were marked for archiving on 30 September 2026, and since the 2026 update Professional courses require paid access. Make sure you are working in the current version of the course.

How long is the OCI Security Professional certification valid?

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications are valid for 24 months from the date the credential is earned. Oracle repeats this in its 2026 update announcement.

Since titles no longer carry a calendar year, the expiry date on your credential is what tells you when to recertify, not the version name. Put that date in your calendar the day you pass.

OCI Security Professional dumps and Oracle’s fraud policy

Oracle names brain dumps explicitly. Its Certification Program Guidelines state that any contribution to, use of, or sharing of materials pertaining to Oracle certification exams is a violation of its Fraudulent Activity Policy, and that candidates are responsible for making sure their preparation materials are legitimate.

Possible sanctions include decertification, a temporary, indefinite or permanent ban, and forfeiting all fees paid to Oracle. A dump is also of little use on a hands-on exam, where you have to build and configure real resources rather than pick a remembered answer.
