The Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Consultant can no longer be earned. Salesforce closed registration on 24 July 2026, the last exam day was 31 August 2026, and the certification retires on 1 February 2027. If you already hold it, it stays on your Trailblazer profile marked as retired and no maintenance is required. Salesforce says the skills will feed into an Agentforce Marketing certification launching in late 2026.

Is the Salesforce Account Engagement Consultant certification retired?
Yes, it is being retired. The Salesforce exam guide states that the Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Consultant certification will be retired effective 1 February 2027. The last day to register was 24 July 2026 and the last day to take the exam was 31 August 2026, all at 00:00 UTC.
In practice that means the exam cannot be booked or taken any more. Anyone searching for the Account Engagement Consultant exam today cannot earn this cert; the question is what happens to existing holders and what comes next.
It is one of 24 certifications Salesforce retires on 1 February 2027, listed in Salesforce’s 2027 Certification Retirements FAQ.

What happens if you already hold the certification?
Salesforce states that a retired certification is still a valid certification. Your Account Engagement Consultant credential stays on your Trailblazer profile record and is marked as retired from 1 February 2027.
Salesforce has removed the maintenance badge requirements for retiring certifications, so there is nothing more to complete to keep it until retirement. Two practical limits apply afterwards: certificates are only issued for active certifications, so printed or downloadable certificates will not be available after the retirement date, and retired certifications do not show on Salesforce’s certification verification page. Download a certificate before 1 February 2027 if you need one for an employer or client.

What replaces the Account Engagement Consultant exam?
Salesforce has not named a direct replacement exam. Its retirements FAQ says it is assessing the skills covered by the retiring certifications to incorporate them into an upcoming Agentforce Marketing certification launching in late 2026.
Salesforce has not published the name, outline, price or date of that certification on the pages checked for this article, so we do not speculate about it here. Until it appears, the Account Engagement Specialist exam remains the documented Salesforce exam for Account Engagement skills: US$200, a 72% passing score, and no required prerequisite, with course attendance highly recommended.

Salesforce Account Engagement Consultant exam format (until August 2026)
For reference, this is what the exam looked like until it closed. It had 60 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions plus up to five unscored questions, with 105 minutes to complete it. It was proctored, at a testing center or online, and no hard-copy or online materials could be referenced.
The registration fee was US$200 (JPY 30,000) and a retake cost US$100, plus applicable taxes. The questions aligned to the Summer ’23 release.

Account Engagement Consultant passing score
The passing score was 68%. With 60 scored questions, that meant at least 41 correct answers.
The prerequisite was the Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Specialist certification, and the consultant credential was maintained through the Account Engagement Specialist maintenance badge on Trailhead — a requirement Salesforce has since removed for retiring certifications.

What was on the Account Engagement Consultant exam?
The exam guide lists eight sections. Account configuration was the largest at 20%, followed by evaluation and automating business processes at 17% each and lead management at 14%. Sales emails and alerts carried only 3%.
The candidate profile was a consultant with 12 months or more of hands-on experience implementing and administering Account Engagement and the Salesforce Platform, with working knowledge of B2B marketing automation and the consulting skills to gather requirements and design solutions. Account Engagement Consultant vs Account Engagement Specialist
The Specialist was the entry credential and the prerequisite; the Consultant built on it with implementation and solution-design scenarios. The Specialist exam guide lists a 72% passing score and a US$200 fee and requires no prerequisite.
With the Consultant retiring, the Specialist is the Account Engagement credential with a current exam guide. Check its guide before booking, because Salesforce updates its catalogue regularly.

Is a retired Salesforce certification still worth listing?
Salesforce’s own position is that retirement does not invalidate the work you put in or the knowledge you gained, and that a retired certification is still valid. It remains on your Trailblazer profile record.
Be precise on a CV or LinkedIn profile: list it as Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Consultant with the year you earned it. Because retired certifications no longer appear on the verification page, keep a downloaded certificate as proof.

Exam dumps, salary and other questions
Salesforce prohibits sharing, using or selling exam content in any format and has said explicitly that using unofficial dumps violates its Code of Conduct. Penalties include revocation of earned certifications. With this exam closed, anything sold as a current dump for it is outdated by definition.
