SAP BTP Solution Architect certification: retiring, and what replaces it
The SAP BTP Solution Architect certification (P_BTPA) is being retired: SAP lists 19 October 2026 as its retirement date and recommends the successor, SAP Certified - Solution Architect - SAP Business AI Platform (C_BAIPA). Valid P_BTPA holders are migrated to C_BAIPA on 20 October 2026. Both exams are a 2-hour scenario-based assessment with a 60% pass score, taken with an SAP Learning Hub subscription.

Is the SAP BTP Solution Architect certification being retired?
Yes. SAP’s certification page states that SAP Certified - Solution Architect - SAP BTP will be retired on 19 October 2026, and that SAP strongly recommends the successor certification, SAP Business AI Platform Solution Architect.
If you already hold a valid P_BTPA certification, you do not lose it: SAP states that all learners with a valid P_BTPA certification will be migrated to the successor, SAP Business AI Platform Solution Architect (C_BAIPA), on 20 October 2026.
If you are starting now, prepare for C_BAIPA. With P_BTPA retiring within days, the successor is the certification that will stay in SAP’s catalogue.
If you were already preparing for P_BTPA, your work is not lost. The successor keeps the same duration, pass score and assessment type, and SAP names its own learning journey for it — start there to see what the successor emphasises.

What is the SAP BTP Solution Architect certification?
It is SAP’s advanced-level architect credential for SAP Business Technology Platform. SAP describes it as designed for seasoned professionals who bridge the critical gap between business strategy and technology execution — the person who decides how SAP BTP services fit together into an enterprise architecture.
SAP tags the certification with the roles and skills Architect, Solution Architecture, DevOps Architecture, Master Data Management and Analytics, and with SAP Business Suite as the product context.

SAP BTP Solution Architect exam format
This is not a multiple-choice exam. The certification consists of one scenario-based assessment lasting 2 hours, with a 60% pass score.
SAP offers two ways to complete it. In roleplay with AI guidance you work through the scenario in conversation, available in English, Spanish, Italian, French, Japanese and 25 further languages. Alternatively you record a video, which is available in English only.
The successor C_BAIPA uses the same shape: one scenario-based assessment, 2 hours, 60% pass score.

How much does the SAP BTP Solution Architect certification cost?
To take the exam, SAP requires a Learning Hub subscription that includes SAP Certification exam attempts, plus a valid SAP Universal ID with a secondary email.
SAP lists the SAP Learning Hub at USD1,452 per user per year, including four certification exam attempts per year to get and stay certified. SAP also states that you can purchase one or six exam attempts separately, but it does not show that price on the page checked.
The subscription matters after the exam as well. SAP states that stay-certified assessments are accessible only with an SAP Learning Hub subscription, and the four yearly attempts are explicitly meant to get and stay certified. If you plan to keep the credential, budget for the subscription as a recurring cost rather than a one-off exam fee.

SAP BTP Solution Architect training: the official learning journey
SAP’s recommended preparation for P_BTPA is the learning journey Becoming an SAP BTP Solution Architect. SAP says it gives a comprehensive understanding of the tools and methods required to use SAP BTP effectively, to design an enterprise architecture, to align IT strategy with business objectives and to estimate the costs of use cases.
The journey lists two prerequisites: the course BTP100 Discovering SAP Business Technology Platform, and practical experience with SAP BTP. The products it covers include SAP Integration Suite, SAP AI Core and SAP Business Data Cloud.
For the successor, SAP names a separate learning journey, Becoming an SAP Business AI Platform Solution Architect. If you are starting your training now, that is the one to follow.

Prerequisites for the SAP BTP Solution Architect exam
SAP lists no prerequisite certification on the P_BTPA or C_BAIPA pages. The practical requirements are the Learning Hub subscription with exam attempts and a set-up SAP Universal ID including a secondary email. SAP also links a technical readiness checklist for hardware, software and connectivity.
The real prerequisite is experience: the learning journey expects hands-on work with SAP BTP, and the certification is labelled advanced level.

How long does the certification stay valid?
SAP lets you extend an existing certification by completing a short annual assessment, which adds 12 months of validity. That assessment requires an SAP Learning Hub subscription; without one, SAP says you have to take the full exam again.
For P_BTPA holders the practical question is what happens after migration. Their credential becomes C_BAIPA on 20 October 2026, so future stay-certified steps follow the successor certification.

SAP BTP Solution Architect dumps and SAP’s exam rules
SAP warns specifically about brain dumps. Its exam security guidelines say that sharing exam questions is in contravention of the Non-Disclosure Agreement and General Terms that candidates sign before taking their exam.
SAP reserves the right to withhold certification status from candidates found cheating or disclosing exam questions, can delete exam results and can bar candidates from further exams. A scenario-based assessment also rewards reasoning, which no dump can supply.

SAP BTP Solution Architect vs SAP Business AI Platform Solution Architect
C_BAIPA is the direct successor. Duration (2 hours), pass score (60%) and format (one scenario-based assessment) are the same as P_BTPA; the name follows SAP Business AI Platform, and it has its own learning journey.
On salary, SAP does not publish pay figures for either certification on the pages checked, so this page gives none.
