UiPath Software Testing Engineer Professional certification: status and successor
Check the status before you plan for this one. The UiPath Software Testing Engineer Professional validated end-to-end test automation with UiPath Test Suite, but UiPath announced that its exam, UiPath-STEPv1, remained available only until 15 August 2026, and UiPath Academy’s certification catalogue now lists the Test Cloud Architect Professional (exam UiPath-TCAPv1) instead. UiPath’s general certification page still shows the old name, so confirm in UiPath Academy before buying anything.

What is the UiPath Software Testing Engineer Professional certification?
The Software Testing Engineer Professional is a UiPath Certified Professional credential for test automation. UiPath describes it as validating advanced skills for building end-to-end test automation workflows with UiPath Test Suite, and as demonstrating expertise in data-driven testing for enterprise-scale applications. UiPath named Test Automation Engineers, Automation Developers and Test Managers as the target roles.
It was itself a successor. UiPath discontinued the Test Automation Engineer Professional on 28 April 2025 and replaced it with the Software Testing Engineer Professional, which is why UiPath still shows it as “formerly Test Automation Engineer Professional”.

Is the Software Testing Engineer Professional exam still available?
Probably not for new candidates, and the official signals disagree, so it is worth spelling out. UiPath’s announcement of its Test Cloud certification journey, launched on 13 May, said that candidates already preparing for Software Testing Engineer Professional could continue, and that the UiPath-STEPv1 exam remained available until 15 August 2026. That date has passed.
UiPath Academy’s certification catalogue, where exams are actually linked and booked, no longer lists the Software Testing Engineer Professional at all. For Test Cloud it lists only the Test Cloud Architect Professional.
UiPath’s general certification overview on uipath.com still shows the Software Testing Engineer Professional among its certifications. Treat that as an outdated listing, and check UiPath Academy before you pay for a voucher or start a study plan built around UiPath-STEPv1.

Test Cloud Architect Professional: the current UiPath test certification
The Test Cloud Architect Professional is the certification UiPath now offers for testing. Its exam is UiPath-TCAPv1. UiPath says it validates the ability to execute, monitor and optimise end-to-end testing processes using UiPath Test Cloud, including UI and API test automation, data-driven testing and reusable components, while using AI agents across the testing lifecycle.
UiPath’s registration page adds what the candidate should be able to do:
- Design, integrate and scale modern testing practices using UiPath Test Cloud
- Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Apply intelligent test generation and scalable execution practices
- Design enterprise governance models for cloud-based testing ecosystems

How much does the UiPath test certification exam cost?
UiPath charges US$300 plus tax per attempt for every Professional-level exam. That applied to UiPath-STEPv1 and applies to the Test Cloud Architect Professional exam. A launch discount for the Test Cloud Architect exam ran until 31 August 2026 and has ended.

Exam format, questions and passing score
UiPath Certified Professional exams are proctored by Pearson VUE, at a test centre or online through OnVUE, in English and also in Japanese. UiPath lists multiple choice, drag and drop and simulation-based items as its professional question types, and you receive a provisional score report with a pass or fail grade at the end.
The question count, time limit and passing score are set out in each exam’s Exam Description Document, linked from UiPath Academy, not on UiPath’s web pages. We could not retrieve those documents for this page, so we quote no figures for either UiPath-STEPv1 or UiPath-TCAPv1.

Official training for UiPath testing
UiPath Academy’s Software Test Engineer Training learning plan is still online. It teaches software testing with UiPath Test Cloud through guided projects in two parts — a Foundation part of 17 hours 30 minutes and an Advanced part of 6 hours 29 minutes, 23 hours 59 minutes in total — and still describes itself as preparation for the Software Testing Engineer Professional exam.
For the Test Cloud Architect Professional, UiPath Academy points to multiple learning plans listed in the exam description. The Test Cloud content of the Software Test Engineer plan is a sensible foundation either way; check the exam description for the exact plans UiPath recommends.

I already hold the Software Testing Engineer Professional — what now?
UiPath’s certification pages do not state how existing Software Testing Engineer Professional credentials are handled after the exam ended. What UiPath does state is that UiPath Certified Professional certifications have a three-year validity period and that it expects recertification every three years. For the earlier Test Automation Engineer Professional, UiPath said existing credentials stayed valid for their original period and that recertification on that title was not available.
If your credential is approaching its three-year mark, plan for the Test Cloud Architect Professional as the way to stay current in UiPath testing.

Software Testing Engineer vs Test Cloud Architect Professional
The two differ in emphasis. The Software Testing Engineer Professional was built around building end-to-end test automation workflows with UiPath Test Suite — the engineer’s view. The Test Cloud Architect Professional moves to UiPath Test Cloud and adds an architect’s scope: CI/CD integration, scalable execution, intelligent test generation, AI agents in the testing lifecycle and enterprise governance of cloud-based testing.
If you studied for UiPath-STEPv1, much of the hands-on testing knowledge carries over, but expect more questions on integration, scale and governance.
