The AACN CCRN review course online

The Adult CCRN Certification Review Course is AACN’s own CCRN online course. AACN describes it as an in-depth review of all content areas in the most current CCRN Adult test plan, in a flexible, modular design with 16 modules, presented by national critical care nursing experts, with practice questions and rationales and a PDF of the slides for notes.

The modules cover cardiovascular, respiratory, neurologic, endocrine, renal, gastrointestinal, hematology/immunology, integumentary, musculoskeletal, multisystem and behavioral topics. For individuals the price is $159 for AACN members and $199 for nonmembers, and AACN marks the purchase as non-refundable. A free 14-day trial is offered to hospitals and institutions only.

CCRN review classes with live sessions

If you prefer a CCRN online class with a fixed schedule, AACN also runs live webinar series. The Winter 2026 Adult CCRN/PCCN series, for example, ran from 20 to 29 January 2026 as four two-hour sessions for $170 per individual, with 7.0 CE contact hours (CERP Category A) and access to recordings until 29 April.

AACN also offers full-day CCRN review classes at its conferences. At NTI 2026 in San Diego, a PCCN/CCRN Certification Review Course ran on 17 May 2026 from 9:00 to 5:00 PT, for $310 (members) or $440 (nonmembers), with 6.00 contact hours. Is a CCRN certification course required?

No. A CCRN certification course or CCRN certification class is optional. AACN states that it does not approve, endorse or require any specific exam preparation products for eligibility, so you can sit the exam without taking any CCRN course at all, provided you meet the license and hour requirements.

Course hours count towards renewal

A CCRN certification review course is not only exam preparation. The 15.5 hours of the AACN online course are CERP Category A, and to renew CCRN by Synergy CERPs you need 100 CERPs in three years, at least 60 of them in Category A. Live webinar hours from AACN are also listed as CERP Category A.

How to choose the best CCRN review course for you

AACN approves no outside course, so the best CCRN review course is the one that fits how you learn and what you still need. Before you pay for any CCRN prep course or set of CCRN classes, check:

• Test plan match: does it follow the Adult test plan that applies from 12 November 2025, including professional caring and ethical practice?
• Format: self-paced modules, a live online class, or a full day in person.
• Questions: does it include practice questions with rationales, not only lectures?
• Credit: does it award CERPs you can use for renewal?
• Refunds: AACN’s own course is non-refundable, so read the terms of any course first.
