How much is the CEH exam?
EC-Council’s eligibility page lists the CEH exam voucher at $950 for the online proctored exam and $1199 for VUE delivery. Whether you pay anything on top depends on your route: official training is priced separately, and candidates who apply without training pay a non-refundable $100 application fee first. After you pass, an annual continuing education fee keeps the certification active.

CEH exam cost: the voucher price EC-Council lists
The CEH exam voucher is what you buy to sit the knowledge exam. EC-Council’s application and eligibility page shows two delivery options for CEH:
The same two prices appear in the section for candidates who completed official training and in the table for candidates applying without training. EC-Council shows them with a dollar sign and does not state taxes on that page.
On the experience route, EC-Council emails purchase links for the CEH examination voucher once eligibility is granted. You have 90 days from approval to buy it, and 12 months from purchase to schedule and complete the exam.
- Online exam with proctoring: $950
- VUE: $1199

How much is CEH exam delivery online versus at a test centre?
The certified ethical hacker (CEH) exam cost differs only by delivery: the $249 gap between the two listed prices buys a different setting, not different content. The knowledge exam is the same 125 multiple-choice questions in four hours either way. If you can meet the requirements for a proctored exam at home, the online option is the cheaper of the two EC-Council lists.

Certified ethical hacker cost by route
The total certified ethical hacker cost depends mainly on how you qualify to sit the exam. EC-Council requires either official training or two years of information security experience, and each route has its own price structure:
Which of these is cheaper for you depends on whether you already have the two years of experience. If you do, the self-study route avoids the training price entirely.
- Experience route: the non-refundable $100 eligibility application fee, then the exam voucher at $950 (online proctored) or $1199 (VUE).
- Official training route: no application fee and no experience requirement, but the price of an official training package. EC-Council says exam vouchers are available in selected packages; check whether yours includes one before buying a voucher separately.

CEH course fees for official training
EC-Council’s CEH page lists its own training options with “starting at” prices: a single on-demand certification course from $1,699, a single live online certification course from $2,499, and unlimited on-demand certification courses from $3,999. It does not list on that page exactly what each package contains, and it refers buyers to an advisor because pricing varies with several factors.
Official training is also sold through Authorized Training Centers. For vouchers bundled with official training, EC-Council notes that the price may vary depending on the region, the training facility and the training partner. So the certified ethical hacker course fees you are quoted by a training centre can legitimately differ from EC-Council’s own starting prices.
Before you compare CEH course fee quotes, check the same three things each time: whether the exam voucher is included, whether retakes are included, and how long lab access lasts. EC-Council says retake eligibility depends on the package.

The CEH certificate cost after you pass
The exam is not the last payment. EC-Council certifications run on a three-year cycle: you need 120 continuing education credits per certification within three years, and you pay an annual continuing education fee of USD $80 if you hold at least one certification under that scheme.
So when you work out the full certified ethical hacker certification cost, add that annual fee for as long as you want to keep the credential active. If you let the credits lapse, the certification is first suspended and then revoked, and regaining it means passing the exam again — paying for a new voucher.

Keeping the certified ethical hacker price down
The cheapest attempt is the one you pass first time. Before buying the voucher, test yourself across every CEH domain under exam conditions. On Certsqill the practice questions are expert-developed, every answer option is explained, and a readiness score per domain shows where you would lose points. There is a 7-day money-back guarantee.
