CCNP certification cost: exam fees and what else to budget

The CCNP Enterprise certification costs $700 in exam fees if you pass both exams first time: Cisco prices the 350-401 ENCOR core exam at $US400 and the concentration exams at $US300. Cisco Learning Credits can be used instead of paying directly.

CCNP exam fees at a glance

CCNP Enterprise is earned with two exams, a core exam and a concentration exam of your choice, so the CCNP exam cost is the sum of two fees. Cisco publishes both on its exam pages:

  • 350-401 ENCOR (core exam): $US400, 120 minutes
  • 300-410 ENARSI or another concentration exam: $US300, 90 minutes
  • Total CCNP certification cost in exam fees: $700

How much is CCNP? Exam fees in detail

There is no single CCNP exam with one price, which is where much of the confusion comes from. The CCNP exam fee for ENCOR is $US400 and for a concentration exam $US300; the ENARSI page, for example, states “$US300, or use Cisco Learning Credits”. Both prices are quoted in US dollars on Cisco’s pages.

Each exam you pass also earns its own Specialist certification, so the first $400 already buys a credential — Cisco Certified Specialist – Enterprise Core — even before you sit the concentration exam.

What a failed attempt costs

Cisco’s pages do not list a reduced retake price, so a second attempt means paying the CCNP test price again: $400 for ENCOR or $300 for a concentration. Cisco’s exam policies require you to wait five calendar days, beginning the day after a failed attempt, before retaking a professional-level written exam.

Because CCNP exam costs grow by a full fee with every retake, the cheapest preparation is the one that tells you honestly whether you are ready before you book.

Vouchers and Cisco Learning Credits

Cisco accepts Cisco Learning Credits as an alternative to paying the exam fees directly. If you are offered a discount voucher, be careful where it comes from: Cisco’s exam policies state that vouchers which are fraudulent or obtained from an unauthorized source may lead to sanctions, and that Cisco will not compensate candidates for fraudulent vouchers.

CCNP course price and training costs

Training is separate from the exam fees and optional — Cisco sets no course requirement. Cisco’s ENCOR course page does not state a CCNP course price; instructor-led classes are delivered by Cisco and authorized Learning Partners, and the course is also available as a Cisco U. learning path.

When you compare prices, include what the training gives back: the ENCOR course earns 64 Continuing Education credits, which count towards recertification later.

Keeping CCNP: renewal costs

CCNP Enterprise is valid for three years. To recertify a professional-level certification, Cisco requires 80 Continuing Education credits, or you can retake exams or advance to the next level of certification. Whichever route you choose has its own cost, so it belongs in the long-term budget alongside the initial CCNP exam fees.

Reducing the risk of paying twice

Cisco does not publish a passing score or a question count for the CCNP exams, and grading is pass/fail with results online within 48 hours. That makes it hard to judge readiness from the exam side, so judge it from your own preparation: work through Cisco’s exam topics and test yourself against every domain before you book.

Certsqill’s CCNP Enterprise question bank explains every answer option and shows a readiness score per domain.
