AI-900 study guide: the retired outline and what to study for AI-901
Microsoft still shows the AI-900 study guide on Microsoft Learn, but with a notice that the exam was retired on 30 June 2026. The Azure AI Fundamentals certification is now earned with AI-901, so its study guide is the one that defines what to learn.

The AI-900 study guide is retired
The AI-900 study guide page is still live on Microsoft Learn. At the top, Microsoft states that the exam was retired on 30 June 2026 at 11:59 PM Central Standard Time. The guide below that notice lists the skills measured as of 2 May 2025 — the last version of the outline.
Use it to understand what an existing Azure AI Fundamentals holder was tested on, or to read older notes in context. Do not use it as your plan for the exam you can book now.

What the AI-900 study guide covered
The retired outline had five skill areas, each with its own sub-skills:
- Describe Artificial Intelligence workloads and considerations (15–20%): common AI workloads, guiding principles for responsible AI.
- Describe fundamental principles of machine learning on Azure (15–20%): common techniques, core concepts, Azure Machine Learning capabilities.
- Describe features of computer vision workloads on Azure (15–20%): common solution types, Azure tools and services.
- Describe features of Natural Language Processing (NLP) workloads on Azure (15–20%): common scenarios, Azure tools and services.
- Describe features of generative AI workloads on Azure (20–25%): generative AI solutions, generative AI services and capabilities in Azure.

What to study instead: the AI-901 study guide
The AI-901 study guide lists the skills measured as of 15 April 2026, in two areas: identify AI concepts and capabilities (40–45%) and implement AI solutions by using Microsoft Foundry (55–60%). A score of 700 or greater is required to pass.
The shift is from describing to building. Concepts from the AI-900 outline — responsible AI, machine learning basics, vision, language, generative AI — still matter as background, but more than half the exam is about implementing solutions with Microsoft Foundry. Microsoft expects knowledge of Python coding syntax and familiarity with Azure resources.

AI-900 dumps PDF free download: why it is no shortcut
A search for “AI-900 dumps PDF free download” leads to files that claim to contain real exam questions. Microsoft’s exam candidate agreement lists “using braindump material or unauthorized publication of exam questions with or without answers” as misconduct, and Microsoft may invalidate results and bar candidates from exams, without refunding fees.
Even setting the rules aside, such a file describes a retired exam, and you cannot check whether its answers are right. Studying the AI-901 guide is both allowed and pointed at the test you will actually take.
