SnowPro Core study guide: how to prepare for the COF-C03 exam

The SnowPro Core certification study guide that matters now is the one for COF-C03, the exam version Snowflake launched on 16 February 2026 to replace COF-C02. This page sets out what Snowflake publishes about the exam and how to build a study plan around it.

The official SnowPro Core certification study guide

Snowflake’s own SnowPro Core Certification Prep Course tells candidates to review the recommendations in the exam study guide, and the guide is linked from Snowflake’s pages for the exam. We could not open the COF-C03 study guide document itself when checking, so this page does not quote weightings or details from it — read it directly from Snowflake before you plan.

If you have a Snowflake SnowPro Core certification study guide PDF saved from earlier, check which exam it is for. A guide written for COF-C02 describes the previous version; the prep course carried a COF-C02 version only through 14 May.

What the SnowPro Core exam study guide has to cover

Snowflake lists seven competencies for COF-C03 on the certification page. Whatever SnowPro Core exam study guide or notes you use, they should cover all seven:

  • Use the Snowflake AI Data Cloud architecture
  • Manage Snowflake accounts and virtual warehouses
  • Perform data loading, unloading, and transformation
  • Use structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
  • Monitor and optimize performance
  • Enable data collaboration and protection
  • Establish Snowflake connectivity

A study plan built on Snowflake’s own resources

Snowflake recommends six or more months of experience using Snowflake before the exam. If you have less, start with practice in a real account: Snowflake’s Hands-On Essentials track is free, aimed at people new to Snowflake or to databases, and uses hands-on labs with automatically graded proof of work.

Then work through the official prep course. Snowflake describes it as self-paced, with resource links for each topic in each exam objective, video clips and knowledge-check questions; it is paid, access lasts six months or until the order expires, and it does not include the exam fee. Snowflake adds that the course alone will not guarantee a passing score.

Finish with the official SnowPro practice exam, which Snowflake says is built with the same specifications and domain weightings as the live exam. It shows which competency still needs work.

Reading your results against the passing score

Snowflake scores on a scale of 0–1000 with a passing scaled score of 750. A scaled score is not a percentage, so do not treat 75% on a practice set as a pass.

Use practice results by competency instead. If one of the seven areas is clearly weaker than the rest, go back to that part of the study guide before booking.

SnowPro Core study guide checklist

Before you rely on any SnowPro Core study guide, whether official or your own notes, run through these checks:

  • It names COF-C03, not COF-C02.
  • It covers all seven competencies, including connectivity.
  • It includes data unloading as well as loading and transformation.
  • It is paired with hands-on work in a Snowflake account.
