Snowflake certification training and courses for SnowPro Core

Snowflake does not require any course before SnowPro Core, but it offers several training routes: instructor-led courses, an official certification prep course, and free on-demand tracks. This page sets out what each one is and what is actually free.

Instructor-led Snowflake certification courses

Snowflake’s training page lists instructor-led courses including Snowflake Fundamentals, a four-day course on fundamental concepts, design considerations and best practices; Data Engineer, a three-day role-specific course; and Snowflake Business User Training, a one-day introduction for business users.

For SnowPro Core, Snowflake Fundamentals is the closest match to the foundational scope. The Data Engineer course points further, towards the SnowPro Advanced track. Instructor-led training has a second use: under Snowflake’s Continuing Education program, completing one eligible instructor-led course is one of the ways to renew a SnowPro certification.

The official SnowPro certification training: Core Prep Course

The SnowPro certification training aimed directly at the exam is the SnowPro Core Certification Prep Course. Snowflake describes it as a self-paced, on-demand course with resource links for each topic in each exam objective, selected video clips, knowledge-check questions and further study resources.

It is paid, access lasts six months or until the order expiry date, whichever comes first, and the price does not cover the exam itself. During the switch to the current exam version, the course carried both COF-C02 (available through 14 May) and COF-C03. Snowflake states plainly that the course alone will not guarantee a passing score.

Is Snowflake certification free?

No — Snowflake’s certifications page lists no free certification, and SnowPro exams are paid. What is free is a good part of the training. Snowflake says the courses in its Hands-On Essentials track are free and many of its badges are also free, and its Level Up First Concepts track teaches basic Snowflake concepts online for free.

So a free Snowflake certification does not exist, but free preparation does. The Hands-On Essentials workshops — Data Warehousing, Collaboration, Marketplace & Cost Estimation, Data Application Builders, Data Lake, Data Engineering and Data Science — are hands-on labs with automatically graded proof of work, and the badges they lead to are shareable but are badges, not certifications.

Choosing Snowflake certification training

Which route fits depends on where you start. Snowflake recommends six or more months of experience using Snowflake before SnowPro Core, so if you are new to it, the free hands-on tracks give you that practice before you spend anything. If you already work with Snowflake, the prep course is the most direct link to the exam objectives.

Whatever Snowflake certification course you take from outside Snowflake, check that it is written for COF-C03 and covers all seven competencies Snowflake lists for the exam — including establishing Snowflake connectivity, which the COF-C02 outline did not list on its own.

After training: practice and renewal

Training covers the material; a practice exam tells you whether it stuck. Snowflake offers official SnowPro practice exams built to the same specifications and domain weightings as the live exams.

Certifications last two years. Snowflake’s Continuing Education program lets you renew by earning an equivalent, complementary or higher-level certification, or by completing one eligible Snowflake instructor-led training course.
