What is the GWAPT certification?
GWAPT stands for GIAC Web Application Penetration Tester. GIAC states that it validates a practitioner’s ability to strengthen an organisation’s security through penetration testing of web applications — finding and exploiting the flaws an attacker would use.
GIAC names five audiences: security practitioners, penetration testers, ethical hackers, web application developers, and website designers and architects. In other words, it is aimed both at people who attack web applications professionally and at the people who build them and want to know how they break.

How much does the GWAPT certification cost?
GIAC lists GWAPT individually on its pricing page: $999 USD for a certification attempt, $899 for an exam retake, $479 for an attempt extension, $499 for certification renewal, and $399 for a practice exam. Prices exclude applicable sales tax, and GIAC states that it may change pricing without notice.
The practice exam is a separate purchase. If you take the affiliated SANS training, GIAC also offers registration through an affiliate bundle option; the bundle price is not listed on the pricing page.

GWAPT exam format
GWAPT is one proctored exam of 82 questions with a 3-hour time limit. All GIAC exams are web-based, and you choose between remote proctoring through ProctorU and onsite proctoring at a Pearson VUE testing center.
The exam includes CyberLive. GIAC describes CyberLive as a hands-on format that replaces traditional multiple-choice testing with performance-based challenges in realistic lab environments, so some items ask you to actually perform testing tasks rather than pick an answer.

GWAPT passing score
The minimum passing score is 71%. GIAC notes that this applies to exam versions released on or after May 16, 2016, and that it periodically reviews and may update certification specifications — check the certification page when you book.
With the hands-on CyberLive items mixed in, a passing score needs practical fluency with the testing tools, not only knowledge of vulnerability classes.

What is on the GWAPT exam?
GIAC lists eight certification objectives. Together they follow a web application test from start to finish: understanding the application, mapping it, attacking authentication and sessions, and exploiting injection and client-side flaws.
- Web Application Overview
- Reconnaissance and Mapping
- Web Application Configuration Testing
- Web Application Authentication Attacks
- Web Application Session Management
- Web Application SQL Injection Attacks
- Cross Site Request Forgery, Cross Site Scripting and Client Injection Attack
- Web Application Testing Tools

GWAPT training and study options
GIAC links GWAPT to the affiliated SANS course on web application penetration testing, which it says is available in a variety of modalities, including live training and OnDemand. Training is not presented as mandatory on the certification page, and GIAC lists no formal prerequisites there.
For self-study, build your plan around the eight objectives above and practise against an intentionally vulnerable application in a lab you control: map it, test its configuration, attack its login and session handling, and work through SQL injection, XSS and CSRF by hand and with tools. The CyberLive items reward exactly that kind of hands-on routine.
GIAC’s own practice exam ($399) is the official way to rehearse the exam experience. GIAC states that practice exams never include actual exam questions.

GWAPT attempt window, retakes and extensions
A GIAC certification attempt must be completed within 4 months (120 days). If you need more time, an extension adds 45 days at $479.
After a failed exam, GIAC imposes a 30-day waiting period before you can sit again, and a retake costs $899. Plan your study so that the first attempt falls early enough in the 120-day window to leave room for a retake if needed.

How long is the GWAPT certification valid?
GIAC certifications run on a four-year cycle. To keep GWAPT active you collect 36 CPE credits over four years, which is the route GIAC recommends, and pay the renewal fee of $499.
Log CPE credits as you earn them from training, conferences and work, rather than collecting them in the last months of the cycle.

GWAPT salary
GIAC does not publish salary figures for GWAPT, and this page does not repeat unverified numbers from elsewhere. What GIAC does document is the scope of the credential — hands-on web application penetration testing — so compare job postings for application security and penetration testing roles in your market for real pay data.
GWAPT dumps and GIAC’s Code of Ethics
GIAC’s Code of Ethics requires certification holders to uphold the highest level of integrity regarding the security of exam content, and not to share, disseminate or distribute confidential or proprietary information about the certification process.
Violations can lead to revocation of certifications, forfeiture of certification attempts, a ban from future GIAC and SANS programmes, and reports to management or other certifying organisations. On an exam with hands-on CyberLive tasks, dump material is not only a breach of those rules but also useless for the parts where you have to perform the test yourself.

GWAPT practice questions
Certsqill’s GWAPT practice questions come with an explanation for every answer option, and a readiness score per objective shows whether you are consistently above GIAC’s 71% line before you spend $999 on an attempt.
