KLCP certification: Kali Linux Certified Professional
KLCP — Kali Linux Certified Professional — is OffSec’s certification for using Kali Linux properly, from Debian package management to configuring and securing Kali in an enterprise. The exam has 80 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, is closed book and proctored, and is prepared with PEN-103, a free OffSec course. There are no formal prerequisites and the KLCP does not expire. OffSec does not publish a passing score.

What is the KLCP certification?
KLCP stands for Kali Linux Certified Professional. It is issued by OffSec, and passing the KLCP exam earns it. The certification is about Kali itself as an operating system — installing, configuring, maintaining and securing it — not about running exploits.
OffSec frames the scope of its preparation course as running from basic Linux usage and Debian package management to advanced Kali configuration, security and usage within the enterprise. The audience it names is broad: aspiring and experienced security professionals, system administrators and penetration testers who want to use Kali properly.

KLCP exam format
The KLCP exam is 80 multiple-choice questions with a 90-minute limit — just over a minute per question. It is taken online through ClassMarker, a third-party browser-based platform, and every KLCP exam is proctored; after check-in your proctor sends you the link to start. You provide your OS-ID to access the test.
It is closed book. OffSec lists what you cannot use: the Kali Linux Revealed book or PDF, cheat sheets or notes of any kind, and online resources such as kali.training. Whatever you need has to be in your head.
Results appear in ClassMarker immediately after you answer the final question. If you pass, OffSec emails instructions for claiming your digital certificate.

KLCP passing score
OffSec does not publish a KLCP passing score — neither the exam guide nor the PEN-103 page states one. Any percentage you see quoted elsewhere does not come from OffSec, so prepare to know the material across the whole course rather than aiming at a number.

How much does the KLCP certification cost?
The PEN-103 course is free: OffSec includes it with every OffSec account. For the exam, OffSec’s pages that we checked do not list a standalone KLCP exam price. What OffSec does state is that its Learn Fundamentals and Learn One subscriptions include PEN-103 content and a KLCP certification attempt, and that Learn Unlimited includes unlimited KLCP attempts.
If you fail, the exam guide says you can buy a retake through your Buy More page; the retake price is shown there rather than published in the guide.

KLCP course: PEN-103 Kali Linux Revealed
PEN-103: Kali Linux Revealed is OffSec’s preparation course for the KLCP, a beginner-level course that OffSec presents as roadmap, technical reference and study guide for the exam in one. It includes structured learning modules and hands-on labs.
Because the book version is banned during the exam, use the course the other way round: work through every module with a Kali machine open, repeat the commands, and make notes you will not be allowed to bring — the act of writing them is the point.

KLCP prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites for the KLCP. OffSec recommends a basic understanding of Linux and networking concepts, and its target audience includes people with a networking foundation and basic Linux command-line familiarity.

Does the KLCP certification expire?
No. OffSec states that, unlike the OSCP+, OSIR and OSTH, the Kali Linux Certified Professional certification does not expire. Once earned, there is nothing to renew.

KLCP vs OSCP+
Both are OffSec certifications. KLCP is a multiple-choice exam about Kali Linux as a platform, prepared with the free PEN-103 course. OffSec itself draws one clear difference between them: KLCP does not expire, while the OSCP+ does.
Knowing Kali’s package management, services and configuration well removes friction in any later hands-on security training that runs on Kali — but OffSec does not make the KLCP a requirement for its other certifications on the pages we checked.

KLCP exam integrity
OffSec treats cheating seriously. If a potential violation is found, the account is suspended while the matter is investigated; a confirmed violation can mean revocation of certifications already issued and a lifetime ban from future OffSec courses and offerings. OffSec also tells learners never to share their exam materials.
