SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting certification: exams, format and pass score
SAP offers two SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting certifications: Recruiter Experience (C_THR83) and Candidate Experience (C_THR84). Both are now scenario-based exams — a 2-hour roleplay with an AI interviewer or a recorded video — with a 60% pass score. Access comes through an SAP Learning Hub subscription with certification attempts, and SAP expects the next exam versions in mid-December 2026.

What is the SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting certification?
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting is SAP’s cloud recruiting module, and SAP certifies it in two parts. The Recruiter Experience certification (exam code C_THR83) covers the recruiter side of the module. The Candidate Experience certification (C_THR84) covers what applicants see; SAP’s Candidate Experience academy includes lessons on SAP SuccessFactors Career Site Builder.
SAP calls each one an entry-level qualification and aims them at consultants implementing the solution. The certification page for Recruiter Experience lists skills in full-cycle recruitment management, recruitment tools, talent recruitment, recruitment strategy and email management.
The cert matters most for SAP partner consultants: SAP states that only registered SAP partner consultants receive provisioning rights once they have been certified.

Recruiter Experience vs Candidate Experience
The two exams share the same format and rules: 2 hours, scenario-based, 60% to pass, the same language options, and the same expected next version in mid-December 2026. What differs is the scope: Recruiter Experience covers the recruiting process on the recruiter side, Candidate Experience the applicant-facing side.
Pick by your project role. A consultant who configures the recruiter-facing process starts with C_THR83; one who builds the career site and the applicant journey needs C_THR84. The exams are separate, so each needs its own attempt.

How much does the SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting certification cost?
SAP does not print a price on either certification page. Instead, it states that you need an SAP Learning Hub subscription that includes SAP Certification exam attempts, and that each exam attempt counts as one attempt from your subscription.
SAP Training separately lists CER001, a one-attempt SAP Certification exam subscription giving 12 months of access to the Certification Hub, at $236 USD excluding tax. Because the certification page names the Learning Hub subscription, confirm with SAP that the option you buy covers this scenario-based exam before you pay.

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting exam format
Both Recruiting exams are scenario-based assessments, which SAP describes as practical assessments mimicking real-world scenarios. There is one activity: a 2-hour assessment that you complete in one of two ways.
The recommended route is AI-guided: a simulated interview in which the tool records your answers and gives personalised feedback. The alternative is to record a video following on-screen instructions and upload it for review by an SAP evaluator. Microphone access is required; camera access is optional for the AI route.
The AI roleplay is available in English, Spanish, Italian, French, Japanese and 25 further languages; the video option is English only. Pausing freezes the roleplay, but the timer keeps running.

Pass score and how scenario-based exams are scored
The pass score for both C_THR83 and C_THR84 is 60%. SAP does not publish topic weightings for these exams.
In the AI-guided format, SAP states that the AI assesses the meaning behind your answers, not just keywords. Each exam objective is rated from 1 (Insufficient) to 5 (Excellent) against criteria set by subject matter experts, and you can view your analysis before you submit. Video submissions reviewed by an SAP evaluator can take up to 20 business days.
In practice that rewards explaining why you would configure something a certain way, not reciting menu paths. Practise talking through a configuration decision out loud, the way you would with a customer.

Retakes and attempts
SAP allows up to four attempts at the same certification exam in a 12-month period, with at least 24 hours between attempts. After four unsuccessful attempts you must wait a year after the last one before trying again.
Each attempt is deducted from your subscription, so plan the number of attempts you might need when you choose how to buy access.

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting training
For Recruiter Experience, SAP recommends the learning journey Configuring SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting: Recruiter Experience on SAP Learning. SAP Learning also runs a Configuring SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting: Candidate Experience learning journey for the second exam.
SAP does not make either training a formal prerequisite, but you do need a valid SAP Universal ID with a secondary email to take the exam. Because the assessment asks you to handle realistic customer scenarios, hands-on time in a Recruiting system is the best complement to the official training.

Stay certified: keeping the certification current
SAP certifications are maintained through a short annual assessment; SAP Learning describes it as maintaining your certification through a quick annual assessment. For Recruiter Experience there is a dedicated Stay Certified course, currently for the 1H 2026 release, after which you are ready to take the stay-certified assessment.
The certification pages themselves do not state the deadline or the consequences of missing the assessment, so check your SAP Learning account for the due date once you are certified.

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting vs SmartRecruiters for SAP SuccessFactors
SAP also certifies SmartRecruiters for SAP SuccessFactors (exam code C_THR104). It uses the same scenario-based format, with 2 hours and a 60% pass score, and is likewise described as an entry-level qualification for consultants.
The SmartRecruiters page does not say that it replaces the SuccessFactors Recruiting certifications. Choose by the product your customers run: SuccessFactors Recruiting for C_THR83 and C_THR84, SmartRecruiters for C_THR104.
