ASVAB prep courses, classes and the ASVAB Career Exploration Program
The official ASVAB program does not recommend any commercial ASVAB prep course. It points instead to free options: the Army’s free online courses and test-prep programs on march2success.com, free practice tests and sample questions, and solid school courses in math, English and science. In high schools, the ASVAB is given through the ASVAB Career Exploration Program, which is free to participating schools.

Free ASVAB prep courses named by the official program
The only ASVAB test prep course option the official preparation guidance names is free: the Army’s free online courses and test-prep programs on march2success.com. It also points to free ASVAB practice tests and sample questions on asvabprogram.com.
The same guidance warns you to be skeptical of any service requiring payment for guaranteed results. A paid ASVAB prep course is the provider’s own product; the official program does not endorse it.

ASVAB prep classes at school
The official program’s advice for long-term preparation is to take a solid core of courses in mathematics, English and science in high school or college. Technical courses also help with the Auto Information, Shop Information and Electronics Information subtests.
ASVAB preparation classes offered by schools, adult-education centres or recruiters can help with structure. Before you sign up, check that the class covers all 10 subtests and the no-calculator rule.

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program
The ASVAB Career Exploration Program, also called the Student Testing Program, is how the ASVAB is given in schools. It is offered to high school and post-secondary students, it is free of charge to participating schools, and it provides tools to help students explore careers and plan, covering both civilian and military careers. Students often shorten the name to the ASVAB exploration program or simply the ASVAB program; its website is asvabprogram.com.
Eligible scores from the ASVAB Career Exploration Program can be used to pursue enlistment, subject to the usual requirements. If you tested through School Staff Testing, a Verification Test is required first.

Student test and enlistment test: same retest rules
A school ASVAB counts towards the retest rules. The official retest policy is the same whether your initial test was a student test or an enlistment test: one month before the first retest, another month before the second, and six months between any further retests.

Choosing an ASVAB preparation course
If you consider a paid ASVAB preparation course, check that it teaches all 10 subtests by their official names, that math is practised without a calculator, that it explains the AFQT as a percentile, and that it does not claim to have actual test questions. The official program states that it does not provide actual test questions to any third-party test preparation service.

Self-study with practice questions
A course explains the content; practice under test conditions shows whether you are ready. Certsqill’s ASVAB questions are expert-developed, include an explanation for every answer option and build a readiness score per subtest. A 7-day money-back guarantee applies.
