The official ATI TEAS 7 study guide

ATI’s study guide covers reading, math, science, and English and language usage, the four sections of the current exam. ATI describes it as modelled on Version 7, so it is the ATI TEAS 7 study guide rather than a general book. It includes hundreds of practice questions throughout the sections and a full-length practice test, labelled Form C, with answer explanations.

ATI TEAS study book: print or eBook

The ATI TEAS study book costs $24.99 in print and $19.99 as an eBook. The eBook opens in your ATI student portal and stays available for four years from purchase; the printed copy does not expire.

The guide is also part of two ATI packages: the Basic Package ($99) adds practice tests and an anatomy and physiology practice test, and the Comprehensive Package ($199) adds SmartPrep and instructional videos as well.

Choosing a TEAS test study guide or TEAS book

Any TEAS test study guide you use should follow the current Version 7 outline: four sections, with the content areas ATI publishes for each. A TEAS book written for the older TEAS V test study guide outline, or a teas study manual without a date, may group topics differently and miss weight changes.

Check three things in any TEAS test book before you buy it: that it covers all four sections, that its practice questions come with explanations, and that it includes at least one full-length timed practice test. ATI’s own TEAS study books meet those three points.

How to study for the TEAS test

ATI’s advice on how to study for the TEAS exam starts with the content outline, so you know exactly what is tested and how each topic is weighted. Then take ATI’s free online practice test before you study, to see which subjects need the most work.

Most students give themselves several weeks. Work through your weakest subject first, schedule a full-length practice test partway through and again near your exam date, and take at least one practice test straight through with the clock running and no notes.

A TEAS exam study guide by section weight

Your own TEAS exam study guide should spend time where the questions are. The time limits and question counts per section come from ATI:

• Science: 50 questions in 60 minutes, with anatomy and physiology the largest block
• Reading: 45 questions in 55 minutes
• Mathematics: 38 questions in 57 minutes, with an on-screen calculator
• English and Language Usage: 37 questions in 37 minutes, the tightest pace

Free resources when you study for the TEAS exam

ATI lists several free resources: the free online practice test, a free version of the official ATI TEAS Prep App, and the ATI Nursing Blog with study tips, a six-week study plan and practice questions for pre-nursing students. These are a solid base for studying for the TEAS exam on a budget.
