What is the ATI TEAS test?
The ATI TEAS test is ATI’s standardized test of the academic skills you will rely on in a nursing or allied health program, and programs use it as part of their admission decisions. The current version is ATI TEAS Version 7. If you are asking what the TEAS exam is for, it is the TEAS test nursing programs and other health programs read alongside your application, not a licensing exam.
Because it is a TEAS nursing test in that sense, the rules that matter most come from your program: which delivery format it accepts, the score it wants and how many attempts it allows. ATI sets the exam itself; the school sets the bar.

ATI TEAS exam format
The ATI TEAS exam has four separately timed sections, always in the same order. You can go back to questions within the section you are working on, but once you submit a section you cannot return to it. There is one 10-minute break after the math section.
Question types include multiple choice, multiple select (select all that apply), fill in the blank, ordered response and hot spots. A basic calculator is built into the exam screen, and personal calculators are not allowed (ATI exam day requirements).
- Reading: 45 questions (6 unscored), 55 minutes
- Mathematics: 38 questions (4 unscored), 57 minutes
- Science: 50 questions (6 unscored), 60 minutes
- English and Language Usage: 37 questions (4 unscored), 37 minutes

TEAS reading questions and ATI TEAS English questions
TEAS reading questions fall into three areas: key ideas and details (15 scored questions), craft and structure (9) and integration of knowledge and ideas (15). Expect passages followed by questions on main idea, the author’s purpose, word meaning in context and how information from several sources fits together.
ATI TEAS English questions cover conventions of standard English (12), knowledge of language (11) and using language and vocabulary to express ideas in writing (10). TEAS English questions are short, but the section is the tightest on time: 37 questions in 37 minutes.

Math for TEAS test takers: what the math questions cover
Math on the TEAS test has two areas: numbers and algebra (18 scored questions) and measurement and data (16). ATI TEAS math questions draw on fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, equations, conversions between units and reading charts and tables. You have 57 minutes for 38 questions, with the on-screen calculator.
If you studied from TEAS 6 math questions or an older TEAS test 6 math book, check it against the Version 7 outline: ATI groups the current exam into the two areas above, and TEAS math questions should be practised in that structure.

Science for TEAS test takers: what the science questions cover
The TEAS science test is the longest section: 50 questions in 60 minutes. TEAS science questions split into human anatomy and physiology (18 scored questions), biology (9), chemistry (8) and scientific reasoning (9). Anatomy and physiology is the largest single block of science questions on the TEAS test.
ATI TEAS science questions often ask you to apply a concept to a short scenario or to interpret an experiment, not only to recall a fact. TEAS 6 science questions from older material can still help with core biology, but use the Version 7 weights to decide where your time goes.

How much does the ATI TEAS test cost?
ATI charges $120 plus applicable sales tax when you test remotely with ATI proctoring or with PSI, in person or remote. When you test through your school, the school sets the fee; it may include proctoring or room costs, or look lower because the school has folded the cost into another fee.
Each retake is a new registration at the full price, and TEAS registrations are not refundable. Study materials are sold separately from the exam.

TEAS scores and what your program requires
Your total score and each content area score range from 0.0 to 100%. They are based on the percentage of questions answered correctly, adjusted for differences between test forms. Your score report also places you in an academic preparedness level: Developmental, Basic, Proficient, Advanced or Exemplary.
ATI does not set a passing score. Each school sets its own requirement, and schools also decide how long they accept a score; ATI says two years is common, but policies vary.

Retaking the TEAS exam
ATI does not require a waiting period between attempts. How many attempts you get is set by the program you are applying to, so check its policy before you register again. Each attempt is a new registration at the full fee.

Teas test prep: how to plan your preparation
ATI’s own advice for TEAS test preparation is to start with the content outline, take a practice test before you study to find your weakest subject, work through that subject first, and take a full-length practice test partway through and again near your exam date. Because each section is timed, take at least one practice test straight through with the clock running.
Good ATI TEAS prep follows the weights: science and reading carry the most scored questions, and English is the tightest on time. TEAS prep that only drills one subject leaves points on the table in the others.

Where to find a free TEAS test practice test
ATI offers a free online practice test with 60 questions, 15 in each subject area, with rationales and an end-of-test score report. It is the official answer if you are looking for an ATI TEAS free practice test or a sample TEAS test for nursing school admission, and ATI recommends taking it before you start studying. Free TEAS questions from other sources are not reviewed by ATI.
Certsqill does not offer free TEAS questions. The free ATI test is a good first check; a full ATI TEAS practice exam or a larger bank of practice questions for TEAS gives you a more reliable picture of each section.

ATI TEAS test answers, the pangolin passage and other shared content
People search for ATI TEAS test answers or for single passages, such as the pangolin passage TEAS test question or the white house solar panels TEAS test passage. We could not confirm the origin of these passages on ATI’s pages, so we do not reproduce or describe them.
ATI says material sold as leaked ATI tests is often outdated assessments or practice tests, or was not produced by ATI at all, and that it takes legal action against unauthorized selling and sharing. On test day, misconduct means dismissal and an unscored exam. Memorised answers are also no use when your form contains different questions.

ATI TEAS practice questions
Certsqill’s ATI TEAS practice questions are expert-developed and mapped to ATI’s four sections and their content areas, from key ideas and details in reading to scientific reasoning in science. Use them as a TEAS practice test under time pressure or as a targeted ATI TEAS math practice test or ATI TEAS science practice test for your weakest section.
Every question comes with an explanation for each answer option, and your results build a readiness score per section, so you see where you stand before your ATI TEAS 7 practice test turns into the real ATI TEAS exam questions. A 7-day money-back guarantee applies.
