AWS SysOps Administrator, now CloudOps Engineer: cost, exam format and practice questions
AWS has renamed SysOps Administrator – Associate to AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate, Amazon’s associate-level certification for operating workloads on AWS. The current exam is SOA-C03; the last day to take the SysOps Administrator exam was 29 September 2025. AWS states the exam as 65 questions in 130 minutes, the cost as 150 USD, the passing score as 720, and the certification as valid for three years.

What is AWS SysOps Administrator Associate — now CloudOps Engineer?
AWS has renamed AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate to AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate. The last day to take the SysOps Administrator exam was 29 September 2025; the current exam is SOA-C03, and passing it earns the CloudOps Engineer name. Existing SysOps Administrator certifications remain valid for three years from the date they were earned.
AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate is the associate-level certification for running things on AWS rather than designing or building them: deployment, monitoring, cost and performance, availability, and the daily operational work of keeping workloads healthy.
AWS requires no training and no prior certification. The exam is 65 questions in 130 minutes, the same shape as the Solutions Architect and Developer associate exams.

What AWS publishes, and what it does not
150 USD, 65 questions, 130 minutes, three years of validity, a 14-day wait after a failed attempt and results within five business days — all stated by AWS.
The passing score is in the SOA-C03 exam guide rather than on the certification page: results are reported as a scaled score of 100–1,000, and the minimum passing score is 720 (checked 10 October 2026). AWS publishes no pass rate and no salary data, and this page states none.

Where can you find AWS SysOps practice questions?
This site holds 498 practice questions for the exam. Every question shows all options, which one is correct, and why each of the others is wrong — on an operations exam, the wrong answers are usually the fix that works once but not the one that stops it happening again.
What you will not find here are dumps. AWS states that it rotates exam questions regularly, so a leaked set ages quickly. These questions are written against AWS’s published exam guide instead.
Because 720 sits on a scaled range, no practice percentage converts into an AWS score. What practice tells you is which content area still costs you points.

The AWS SysOps Administrator certification is now CloudOps Engineer
If you are looking for the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate certification today, note the name change. AWS has renamed it AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate. The current exam is SOA-C03, and the last day to take the old SysOps exam was 29 September 2025. You cannot book the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate exam any more; you book SOA-C03 and the certification you earn is called CloudOps Engineer – Associate.
The logistics stayed the same: AWS lists SOA-C03 at 150 USD, with 65 multiple-choice or multiple-response questions in 130 minutes, and a three-year validity. AWS recommends about one year of experience deploying, managing and operating workloads on AWS.

Already hold the AWS SysOps admin certification?
You do not need to do anything right away. AWS states that current holders of the AWS SysOps admin certification are not required to take the CloudOps Engineer exam: your SysOps Administrator – Associate certification remains valid for three years from the date you earned it, and the name is not changed retroactively.
When it is time to recertify, you take the current SOA-C03 exam. AWS also states that holders of both DevOps Engineer – Professional and SysOps Administrator – Associate can recertify by passing the latest DevOps Engineer – Professional exam.

SOA-C03 syllabus and passing score
The SOA-C03 exam guide is the syllabus. It splits the scored content into five domains:

How SOA-C03 is scored
According to the exam guide, results are reported as a scaled score from 100 to 1,000 and the minimum passing score is 720. Of the 65 questions, 50 count toward your score and 15 are unscored — and you cannot tell which ones they are, so treat every question as if it counts.
Because the score is scaled, a practice percentage does not convert directly into an AWS result. Use practice to find which of the five domains still costs you points.

AWS SysOps administrator salary: what AWS publishes
AWS does not publish an AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate salary figure on its certification pages, and we do not quote unofficial estimates. Any AWS SysOps admin salary or AWS SysOps administrator salary number you find elsewhere describes a job title in a particular market, not what the certificate adds on its own.

Is the certification worth it?
It is worth it if operations is your job: monitoring, incident response, automation, backups and networking on AWS are what the exam measures, and those skills are what operations roles need daily. The renaming to CloudOps Engineer reflects that focus. If you mainly design architectures or write applications, the Solutions Architect or Developer associate exams are closer to your work.
