Cisco DevNet Expert certification: now CCIE Automation
Cisco renamed the DevNet Expert certification to CCIE Automation on 3 February 2026, and active DevNet Expert holders were automatically recognised as CCIE Automation certified. Today you earn it with two exams: the 350-901 AUTOCOR core exam (120 minutes, US$400) and the 8-hour CCIE Automation practical exam (US$1,600 at Cisco testing facilities). There are no formal prerequisites, the certification is valid for three years, and Cisco publishes no passing score.

What happened to the Cisco DevNet Expert certification?
The Cisco Certified DevNet Expert now carries a different name. Cisco announced in May 2025 that on 3 February 2026 the DevNet certification track would be rebranded as CCNA, CCNP and CCIE Automation, replacing the DevNet track. DevNet Expert became CCIE Automation, which puts automation on the same expert footing as the other CCIE tracks.
If your DevNet Expert cert was active on that date, nothing was required of you: Cisco stated that active DevNet Associate, Professional and Expert holders would automatically be recognised as CCNA, CCNP or CCIE Automation certified, respectively.

What is CCIE Automation?
CCIE Automation is Cisco’s expert-level automation certification. Cisco’s one-line summary is “prove you can design and develop advanced network automation solutions”. The practical exam tests the whole software lifecycle in automation-driven networks: planning, designing, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining.
It is built on two exams. The 350-901 AUTOCOR core exam is shared with CCNP Automation, so passing it moves you towards both certifications at once and also earns the Cisco Certified Specialist – Automation Core. The second exam is the hands-on CCIE Automation practical.

How much does the CCIE Automation exam cost?
Cisco lists the AUTOCOR core exam at US$400 and the CCIE Automation practical exam at US$1,600, both payable alternatively with Cisco Learning Credits. Cisco’s expert exams page adds the detail: US$1,600 applies at Cisco testing facilities and at mobile lab locations using the bring-your-own-device option, and US$1,900 applies at mobile lab locations using the Cisco kit option.
Two cost points are easy to miss. The fees are per attempt, so a second lab attempt is a second fee, and Cisco states that they do not include travel and lodging, which matters for a lab exam held at a limited number of sites.

What is the CCIE Automation practical exam?
The practical is an 8-hour, hands-on exam. Cisco’s v1.1 lab exam topics organise it into five weighted domains:
- Software Design, Development, and Deployment — 20%
- Infrastructure as Code — 30%
- Network Programmability and Automation — 25%
- Containers — 10%
- Security — 15%

CCIE Automation v1.1 and v1.2
Cisco’s exams page names the CCIE Automation practical exam v1.1 and notes that minor changes to the practical are in the works. Cisco has also published an exam topics document for a CCIE Automation Practical v1.2, again an 8-hour hands-on exam with the same five domains and weights, but it does not state a start date. Check which version applies when you book your lab.

What is on the AUTOCOR core exam?
The core exam is 350-901 AUTOCOR v2.0, Designing, Deploying and Managing Network Automation Systems. It is a 120-minute exam in English or Japanese, associated with both CCNP and CCIE Automation, and Cisco weights its four domains as follows:
- Network Automation — 30%
- Infrastructure as Code — 30%
- Operations — 20%
- AI in Automation — 20%

Where do you take the CCIE Automation lab?
Expert lab and practical exams are booked through Cisco’s Expert Lab Exams Portal, not through the regular written-exam scheduling. Cisco lists expert lab facilities at its own sites in Bangalore, Beijing, Brussels, Dubai, Singapore, Richardson (USA), Sydney and Tokyo, plus mobile lab locations. Confirm which sites offer the Automation practical when you schedule.
To book, Cisco asks for your Cisco account, the ID you used for your written exam, the date you passed the core exam and your passing score.

CCIE Automation training
Cisco states that studying with Cisco is not required but recommended. For CCIE Automation training, Cisco U. offers guided learning paths, pre- and post-assessments, hands-on labs and practice tests. For the core exam, Cisco’s official AUTOCOR course is available as a Cisco U. learning path or instructor-led, in person or virtual, and earns 32 CE credits towards recertification.
The binding scope is the two exam topics documents: AUTOCOR v2.0 for the core and the CCIE Automation lab exam topics for the practical. Because the practical is hands-on, reading alone will not get you there; build and break the automation workflows in a lab until they are routine.

DevNet Expert prerequisites, retakes and recertification
There are no formal prerequisites: Cisco lists none for the core exam, and you do not need CCNP Automation first. If you fail the practical, Cisco requires a wait of 30 calendar days before the next attempt.
The certification is valid for three years. You renew with Continuing Education credits or by retaking exams before they expire; for expert-level certifications Cisco’s recertification policy requires 120 CE credits. Once you have passed an expert-level practical, you cannot retake it unless your status becomes inactive.

DevNet Expert practice questions, salary and dumps
Certsqill’s DevNet Expert practice questions are expert-developed and target the AUTOCOR core exam. Each question has an explanation for every answer option, and your readiness score is shown per domain, so you know whether Network Automation, Infrastructure as Code, Operations or AI in Automation is holding you back before you spend the lab fee. Certsqill offers a 7-day money-back guarantee.
Cisco does not publish salary data for DevNet Expert or CCIE Automation holders, so no salary figure is given here.
Brain dumps are no route to an expert cert. Cisco states that brain dumps are covered by the Cisco Candidate NDA and that it has invalidated certifications and issued lifetime bans to people who accessed such material.
