What is the CCNP Service Provider certification?
CCNP Service Provider is Cisco’s professional-level certification for engineers who build and run carrier and service provider networks. Cisco describes it as a way to validate your expertise in implementing core service provider network technologies — the routing, MPLS, segment routing and VPN services that large transport networks are built on.
The structure is the same as every current CCNP track: one core exam that every candidate takes, plus one concentration exam you pick to match your focus. Pass both and you hold the cert. There is no separate application, and Cisco lists no formal prerequisites — you do not need a CCNA first.
The core exam also counts on its own. Passing 350-501 SPCOR earns you the Cisco Certified Specialist – Service Provider Core certification and, according to Cisco, meets the qualifying exam requirement for both CCNP Service Provider and the expert-level CCIE Service Provider.

CCNP Service Provider exams: core plus one concentration
The core exam is 350-501 SPCOR, Implementing and Operating Cisco Service Provider Network Core Technologies. Cisco lists three concentration exams on the certification page today; you choose one:
- 350-501 SPCOR — Implementing and Operating Cisco Service Provider Network Core Technologies (core, 120 minutes, English)
- 300-510 SPRI — Implementing Cisco Service Provider Advanced Routing Solutions (90 minutes, English)
- 300-515 SPVI — Implementing Cisco Service Provider VPN Services (90 minutes, English)
- 300-540 SPCNI — Designing and Implementing Cisco Service Provider Cloud Network Infrastructure (90 minutes, English and Japanese)

How much does the CCNP Service Provider exam cost?
Cisco lists the SPCOR core exam at US$400 and each concentration exam at US$300, so the two exams you need come to US$700 if you pass both at the first attempt. Both can also be paid with Cisco Learning Credits instead of cash.
A failed attempt means paying for that exam again. Cisco’s recertification policy also sets a waiting period: after failing a professional-level exam you must wait five calendar days before you can retake the same exam.
Training is a separate cost and is optional. Cisco does not require any course to sit the exams.

CCNP Service Provider exam format and passing score
SPCOR runs 120 minutes; each concentration exam runs 90 minutes. Cisco states that grading is pass/fail and that results are available online within 48 hours.
Cisco does not publish the number of questions or a passing score for any of these exams, so any specific figure you find elsewhere is not from Cisco. Plan to be solid across every topic area rather than aiming for a cut-off you cannot verify.

CCNP Service Provider syllabus: what is on the SPCOR exam?
Cisco’s official exam topics document is the syllabus. The current SPCOR blueprint is labelled v1.1; Cisco’s minor-update notice says the revised blueprints went live on 20 September 2024 to keep the domains aligned with commonly adopted technologies. Note that the SPCOR exam page still shows the label v1.0, so check the topics PDF for the current version before you study.
Networking carries the most weight at 30%. MPLS and segment routing together with services make up another 40%, so the label-switching side of the exam is not a niche — it is close to half of it.
- 1.0 Architecture — 15%
- 2.0 Networking — 30%
- 3.0 MPLS and Segment Routing — 20%
- 4.0 Services — 20%
- 5.0 Automation and Assurance — 15%

CCNP Service Provider training and study materials
Cisco’s own course for the core exam is Implementing and Operating Cisco Service Provider Network Core Technologies (SPCOR). Instructor-led delivery is five days in the classroom with hands-on lab practice plus the equivalent of three days of self-study material; the e-learning version is the equivalent of eight days of content. Cisco states the course also earns 64 Continuing Education credits towards recertification.
The course outline lists what Cisco expects you to bring: intermediate knowledge of Cisco IOS or IOS XE, familiarity with IOS XR configuration, IPv4 and IPv6 TCP/IP networking, intermediate IP routing protocols, an understanding of MPLS and familiarity with VPN technologies.
Beyond the course, Cisco points to Cisco U. learning paths, instructor-led training through Cisco and authorised Learning Partners, Cisco Press titles and the Cisco Learning Network. For self-study, start from the exam topics document and map every item to lab practice.

How long is CCNP Service Provider valid, and how do you renew it?
The certification is valid for three years. Cisco lets you renew either with Continuing Education credits or by retaking exams before the certification expires; at the professional level the CE route requires 80 CE credits.
Every exam on the CCNP Service Provider page is marked as usable toward recertification, and the official SPCOR course counts for 64 CE credits, so training you take anyway can carry most of the renewal.

CCNP Service Provider dumps and exam rules
Brain dumps are not a shortcut Cisco tolerates. Its Certification and Confidentiality Agreement requires candidates not to use compromised exam content to prepare for a Cisco exam and not to disseminate actual exam content by any means.
The sanctions listed include a temporary or permanent ban on future Cisco examinations and cancellation of previously earned Cisco certifications. Study from the official exam topics and genuine practice instead.

CCNP Service Provider vs CCIE Service Provider
The two share the same core exam. Passing 350-501 SPCOR meets the qualifying exam requirement for CCNP Service Provider and for CCIE Service Provider. For CCNP you add a 90-minute concentration exam; for CCIE you go on to Cisco’s hands-on expert-level lab instead.
On salary, Cisco does not publish pay figures for CCNP Service Provider holders on the certification pages checked, so this page gives none.
