What is CCNA?
CCNA stands for Cisco Certified Network Associate, the associate-level networking certification from Cisco. In practice it describes a working small-enterprise network engineer: it is supposed to mean that you can stand up and troubleshoot addressing, switching, routing, basic security and the automation layer that now sits on top of all of it.
There is one exam, 200-301, and Cisco lists no prerequisites for it: a single paper, not a track of them, open to anyone who books it.
One thing that muddies the search results: the “CCNA: Introduction to Networks practice final exam” belongs to the Cisco Networking Academy course of that name, not to the 200-301 certification exam. Different assessment, different purpose.

How much does CCNA certification cost?
Cisco publishes the figure, which is worth saying because many issuers do not: the CCNA exam costs $US300, or Cisco Learning Credits.
A CCNA exam voucher is the same seat bought through a different channel, and Cisco Learning Credits are the third.
What Cisco does not fold into it: the exam is offered in English and Japanese, it is valid for three years, and recertifying means sitting a qualifying exam again. Budget the CCNA cost as a recurring three-year item, not a one-off.

What is the CCNA exam format?
The CCNA exam runs 120 minutes — two hours — and is graded pass/fail, with results online within 48 hours. Cisco publishes no question count for 200-301 and no passing score, so any question count or passing score you are quoted comes from somewhere other than Cisco.
Anyone telling you the exam has a fixed number of items or a specific cut score is stating something Cisco does not. What Cisco does publish is the weighting of the six exam topic areas, which is the more useful number for planning study time.
- Network Fundamentals — 20%
- Network Access — 20%
- IP Connectivity — 25%
- IP Services — 10%
- Security Fundamentals — 15%
- Automation and Programmability — 10%

CCNA requirements, and how long the certification lasts
The CCNA requirements are none. Cisco states “Prerequisites: None” — no prior certification, no degree, no documented years. That is unusual among the certifications at this level and it is why CCNA is so often the first one people take.
The certification lasts three years; after that you sit a qualifying exam again.
How long it takes to earn is a different question, and one Cisco does not answer: Cisco publishes no study-hours figure, because it depends on your starting point rather than on a Cisco-defined path.
On difficulty, Cisco publishes no pass rate either, so the only published guide is the topic weightings above — IP Connectivity at 25% is where the paper is heaviest.

Where can you find CCNA practice questions?
This site holds 1,700 CCNA practice questions across the six exam topic areas. Every question shows all options, which one is correct, and why each of the others is wrong — on a pass/fail exam with no published cut score, understanding the wrong answers is the only reliable signal you have.
The point of practice questions is to meet Cisco’s phrasing before exam day.
You can start free, without an account, and there are free practice questions in every topic area. The topics you keep getting wrong are the ones the readiness score keeps surfacing.
What you will not find here are CCNA exam dumps or braindumps built from recycled live exam content. These questions are written against Cisco’s published 200-301 exam topics instead.
Two things this bank is not. It is not a set of practice labs — lab work needs a simulator or real kit, and Cisco’s Networking Academy is where that lives. And it is not interview prep: CCNA interview questions are a hiring conversation, not the 200-301 exam.
The questions are grouped by exam topic, so you can work on IP Connectivity — the heaviest area at 25% — rather than shuffling the whole bank.
What CCNA books and study material do you need?
Cisco publishes the exam topics; the books are third-party or Cisco Press. They all map back to the same six areas and their weightings, so the edition matters more than the title — check it is written for 200-301. Booking the exam itself goes through Cisco and Pearson VUE, not through the publisher.
The same goes for study guides and cheat sheets. A PDF of a book or study guide is the same content in another container — legitimate if you bought it, and a copyright problem if you did not.
This site is not a course and not a study guide. It is the practice on top of whichever book you use — the part that asks you the question and tells you why the answer you picked was wrong. Classroom training is offered by Cisco’s authorised learning partners; this is the online practice layer, not a classroom.

CCNA vs CCNP, CompTIA and the other comparisons
CCNA vs CCNP is a sequence rather than a choice: CCNA is the associate level, CCNP the professional one above it. CCNA vs CCIE compares the associate level with the expert one several rungs up. CCNA vs CCENT asks about a certification Cisco no longer lists — its associate-level page shows one exam, 200-301, and no CCENT. CCST is the step below CCNA inside Cisco.
CCNA vs CompTIA usually means CCNA vs Network+: CompTIA Network+ is vendor-neutral, CCNA is Cisco-specific and goes deeper on Cisco configuration. CCNA vs CISSP compares networking with security architecture — different professions, not different levels. Cisco sets no prerequisite between any of its own rungs.

Is CCNA worth it?
Cisco publishes no CCNA salary figure and no pass rate. What its CCNA page cites is the Pearson VUE 2025 Value of Certification Report: 32% of respondents received a salary increase after certification and 41% were hoping to receive one. Cisco adds that this data is “more general to Cisco certifications” — it describes raises, not a CCNA salary level.
What it does publish is the whole price of entry, which is more than most issuers give you: $US300 for the exam, 120 minutes, no prerequisites at all, pass/fail grading with results inside 48 hours, and three years before you have to sit a qualifying exam again. Whether that is worth it depends on whether Cisco kit is what you will be working on.

The CCNA syllabus: exam topics v1.1
Cisco’s CCNA syllabus is the 200-301 exam topics document, currently version 1.1. It lists every subtopic under the six areas weighted on this page, from network fundamentals to automation and programmability. Download it from Cisco and use it as a checklist — Cisco notes that exam topics are guidelines and may change, so a copy saved long ago can be out of date.

Is a CCNA bootcamp worth it?
A CCNA boot camp packs the syllabus into a few intensive days or weeks. It suits people who already work with networks and need structure, lab access and a deadline. If networking is new to you, a bootcamp alone often moves faster than the material can settle — subnetting and routing need repetition over time.
Before you book any CCNA bootcamp, check that it is delivered by a Cisco Learning Partner or through Cisco’s own learning offers, that it follows the v1.1 exam topics, and how many hours of hands-on lab work it includes. Cisco lists no prerequisites, so a bootcamp is optional, not a requirement.

How to renew your CCNA
CCNA is valid for three years. To keep it active, you meet Cisco’s recertification requirements before it expires, either by passing qualifying exams or by earning Continuing Education credits. Cisco states that completing the requirements resets the three-year recertification deadline.
Plan the renewal early: an expired CCNA means taking the 200-301 exam again from scratch.
