Series 7 exam fee

FINRA lists the Series 7 fee as $395. Its fee adjustment schedule shows the fee was $300 in 2024 and 2025 and rose to $395 in 2026, with $395 also scheduled for 2027, 2028 and 2029. FINRA notes that fee increases take effect on January 1 of the year stated.

The SIE fee comes on top

The SIE is a corequisite: you need both exams for the General Securities Representative registration. The SIE costs $100 (it was $80 in 2024 and 2025). So the FINRA exam fees for the full qualification are $395 plus $100, or $495 in total, before any study materials.

Rescheduling, cancellation and no-show fees

You can change an appointment free of charge if you do it at least 10 business days in advance. Closer to the date, FINRA charges the following for the Series 7:

  • 3 to 10 business days before the appointment: $197.50
  • Within 2 business days of the appointment: $395
  • No-show: a fee equal to the cost of the exam

When the fee is lost

FINRA has no hardship policy if you cannot take an exam. If you miss your enrollment window, for any reason, the exam fee is not refunded and cannot be moved to another exam.

For firm-paid enrollments, FINRA charges no-show and late fees to the firm and the enrollment stays open, so you can book a new appointment within the window.

What drives your total Series 7 cost

The FINRA fees above are fixed. What varies is preparation: study materials and courses are sold by private providers at their own prices, and FINRA does not publish them. Compare what a course or book covers against FINRA’s content outline, not just its price.

Certsqill’s Series 7 practice questions are expert-developed and come with an explanation for each answer option and a readiness score per FINRA function, so you can judge readiness before you pay for an appointment. A 7-day money-back guarantee applies.
