What is the Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Developer?
Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Developer is Google’s professional-level credential for application developers. Google describes the role as someone who builds and configures scalable, secure applications using Google-recommended tools and best practices, across the full development lifecycle — from architecting cloud-native applications to integrating Google Cloud services and generative AI APIs.
It is not an entry-level badge. There is no formal prerequisite, but Google recommends three or more years of industry experience, including at least one year designing and managing solutions on Google Cloud. The exam assumes you have written, deployed and debugged real services, not just read about them.
Google notes that the exam was updated to reflect recent branding changes and points candidates to the exam guide for the product names used on the exam. That is worth doing before you start: study material written before the rename may use product names you will not see on the test.

How much does the Professional Cloud Developer certification cost?
The registration fee is US$200, plus tax where applicable. That is the single figure Google Cloud lists on the certification page, alongside both delivery options.
Google does not list a separate retake price or retake rules on the certification page. For renewal, Google’s help centre says the renewal cost varies by exam and refers to the exam pages, so plan renewal as a separate cost when your two-year term approaches.

Professional Cloud Developer exam format
The exam has 50–60 multiple choice and multiple select questions and lasts two hours. It is offered in English and Japanese.
You register through Google’s certification portal and choose between two delivery options: an online-proctored exam taken from a remote location, or an onsite-proctored exam at a testing center. Both are supervised, and both are governed by the same exam terms.
After you submit, you see a provisional pass or fail on screen. Google then reviews the exam record and asks candidates to allow 7–10 days for the result to be confirmed.

What is the passing score for the Google Professional Cloud Developer exam?
Google Cloud does not publish a passing score. Its certification FAQ states that only pass/fail results are provided, because numerical scores are not meaningful for the examinee and can easily be misinterpreted. Any percentage you see quoted elsewhere is not from Google.
If you fail, Google makes a section-level score report available under Exam History in the candidate portal. That report is the most useful study input you will get: it tells you which of the four exam guide sections pulled you down.

What is on the Professional Cloud Developer exam?
The official exam guide splits the exam into four sections with approximate weightings. Design is the largest block at about a third of the exam, but the other three are close to each other, so no section can be written off.
Under those headings the guide lists the practical work you are expected to know: designing high-performing applications and APIs, designing secure applications, storing and accessing data, setting up a development environment, building and testing, deploying applications to Cloud Run and containers to GKE, integrating with data and storage services, consuming Google Cloud APIs, and troubleshooting and observability.
- Designing highly scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-native applications — ~32%
- Building and testing applications — ~23%
- Configuring cloud-native applications for deployment — ~24%
- Integrating applications with Google Cloud services — ~21%

Professional Cloud Developer certification requirements
There are no prerequisites. You do not need an associate-level Google Cloud certification first, and there is no required course.
What Google does set is an expectation: 3+ years of industry experience, including 1+ year designing and managing solutions using Google Cloud. Google’s preparation steps start with real-world experience and suggest the Google Cloud Free Tier for hands-on practice if your day job does not cover every service in the exam guide.

How long is the certification valid and how do you renew it?
All Professional Google Cloud certifications are valid for two years from the date you certify. Google’s FAQ adds that you may not attempt the same exam while you are certified unless you are within the recertification eligibility period.
For Professional Cloud Developer, renewal is by exam. The renewal window opens 60 days before your certification becomes inactive, and a successful renewal adds two years to the inactive date. Google also allows a late renewal up to 30 days after the inactive date. The continuing-education route Google offers for some professional certifications is not listed as available for this one.

Official study resources for the Professional Cloud Developer exam
Google lists its own preparation path on the certification page. Start with the exam guide, which Google calls the complete list of topics that may be included on the exam. Then review Google’s sample questions, which show the question format and example content.
For training, Google points to the Cloud Developer learning path on Google Cloud Skills Boost, with online training, hands-on labs and skill badges, plus Google Cloud documentation and solution guides for depth. A practical study plan is simple: read the exam guide section by section, build each item in a real project, and use the sample questions to check the style.

Are Professional Cloud Developer exam dumps safe to use?
No. Google’s exam terms treat the questions and answers as confidential information and prohibit sharing exam content in any format, including content someone memorised, through online posts, forums or blogs. Using or accessing unauthorised exam content shared by someone else, including content found online, is listed as prohibited behaviour.
The consequences in the terms are concrete: Google may invalidate exam results, revoke any or all of your certifications, and suspend or permanently bar you from the programme, without refunding fees. Beyond the risk, a dump teaches answers to someone else’s question set rather than the design and deployment judgement the exam actually tests.
