What is the Neo4j Graph Data Science certification?
The Neo4j Graph Data Science Certification is Neo4j’s credential for working with its Graph Data Science (GDS) library. GraphAcademy sums it up as “prove your graph data science skills”, and the exam covers GDS workflows, graph projections, algorithms and library usage.
GDS itself is Neo4j’s library of efficiently implemented, parallel versions of common graph algorithms, plus machine learning pipelines for training predictive models on graph problems. To run algorithms, the data is loaded from the Neo4j database into an in-memory graph catalog, and how much is loaded is controlled by graph projections. That loop — project, run, use the results — is what the exam checks you can handle.
The cert is current: GraphAcademy lists it with full exam details and no retirement notice.

Is the Neo4j Graph Data Science certification free?
Yes. GraphAcademy states that all Neo4j GraphAcademy certifications are completely free, and the GDS certification page lists the exam as free. Retakes are free too, with no limit on the number of attempts.
The recommended GraphAcademy courses listed with the certification have no price attached on the certification page either, so the realistic cost of this cert is your study time.

Neo4j GDS exam format
The exam has 50 questions and runs for 60 minutes, which leaves a little over a minute per question. GraphAcademy lists three question types: multiple choice, multiple select and hands-on Cypher, so you will be asked to work with queries, not only to recognise answers.
Every GraphAcademy exam is online-proctored and graded instantly. The exam is open book in one specific sense: you may consult the Neo4j documentation at neo4j.com/docs during the exam. With an hour for 50 questions, the documentation is a safety net for a syntax detail, not a way to learn a topic on the spot.

Neo4j Graph Data Science certification passing score
You need a score of 80% or higher to pass. With 50 questions, that means at most ten wrong answers. Your score is shown on submission, and the certificate is issued immediately if you pass.
An 80% bar is high, and the topic split below shows why algorithms knowledge decides the result: half of the exam sits in that one area.

What is on the Neo4j GDS exam?
GraphAcademy publishes the exact number of questions per topic:
- Algorithms — 25 questions
- Workflows — 17 questions
- GDS Library — 8 questions

How to read the topic split
Algorithms carry half of the exam. Neo4j’s manual groups GDS algorithms into categories that represent different problem classes, and the recommended courses point to two of them directly — path finding and centrality. Know what each algorithm family answers, which inputs it needs and how its results are used.
Workflows carry 17 questions, more than a third. This is the practical sequence of a GDS analysis: projecting a graph into the in-memory catalog, running algorithms on it and doing something with the output. The remaining eight questions on the GDS Library test how the library itself is used. With at most ten wrong answers allowed overall, a weak workflows topic alone can use up that margin.

Neo4j Graph Data Science training and courses
GraphAcademy recommends four courses before the exam, about seven hours in total:
- Get started with Graph Data Science — 3 hours
- Aura Graph Analytics fundamentals — 1 hour
- Path Finding with GDS — 1 hour
- Understand centrality algorithms — 2 hours

Prerequisites, retakes and validity
There are no prerequisites. GraphAcademy says you can take the recommended courses or go straight to the exam whenever you are ready. If you fail, you can retake the exam after 24 hours, as often as you need, at no cost.
Neo4j certifications do not formally expire, but Neo4j recommends re-certifying every two years to validate your skills against the latest version of Neo4j and pick up new topics. Each badge has a unique verification URL that anyone can check, which is useful when an employer wants proof.

Neo4j Graph Data Science vs Neo4j Certified Professional
Neo4j runs both certifications on GraphAcademy, free and with an 80% pass mark. The Neo4j Certified Professional is the broad one: 80 questions in 60 minutes, led by Cypher with 32 questions, plus fundamentals, schema and indexes, drivers, data modelling and importing data.
The Graph Data Science Certification is the specialist one: 50 questions focused entirely on GDS algorithms, workflows and the library. If you are new to Neo4j, the Certified Professional builds the Cypher base that GDS work relies on; if you already write Cypher daily and work on analytics, go straight to GDS.

Neo4j Graph Data Science practice questions
Certsqill’s Neo4j Graph Data Science practice questions are expert-developed around the three exam topics. Each question comes with an explanation for every answer option, and your readiness score is shown per domain — Algorithms, Workflows and GDS Library — so you know whether you are clear of the 80% line in each area before you sit the exam. Certsqill offers a 7-day money-back guarantee.
Neo4j does not publish a policy on question dumps on its certification pages. Either way, dumps are no reliable preparation: the exam includes hands-on Cypher items, and with the documentation open the hard part is applying GDS correctly, not recalling an answer.
