What is the MySQL HeatWave Implementation Associate certification?
It is Oracle’s associate-level certification for people who deploy and run MySQL HeatWave on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Oracle announced the exam on its MySQL blog on 31 October 2023.
The exam is practical in focus. Oracle’s list of what it validates reads like an operations checklist: provisioning and managing DB systems, backing up and restoring them, setting up replication, enabling high availability, migrating data, adding a HeatWave cluster, creating Lakehouse external tables and training a model with AutoML.
Oracle University files it under its database platform certifications, listed there as the HeatWave MySQL Associate.

Which MySQL HeatWave exam is current?
Oracle’s exam catalogue lists the exam as MySQL HeatWave Implementation Associate Rel 1, number 1Z0-915-1, and the matching certification track as MySQL HeatWave Implementation Certified Associate Rel 1. That exam page loads only with JavaScript and could not be read for this guide, so the details below come from Oracle’s blogs and training pages.
No source that loaded shows a retirement date or a successor exam. Oracle’s MySQL blog of April 2026 still reports results for 1Z0-915-1 from 2025, and Oracle University’s August 2025 cost article lists the certification among its database platform credentials. Check the exam page for the release you will sit before booking.

MySQL HeatWave Implementation Associate exam format and results
Oracle publishes the number of questions, the duration and the passing score on the exam page in its education catalogue. That page did not load on 14 October 2026, and none of Oracle’s blog posts about this exam state those figures, so this page does not give them.
What Oracle has published is outcome data from its free exam period. In April 2026 Oracle’s MySQL blog reported 193 passes and 230 fails for 1Z0-915-1, out of 424 total outcomes, for exams taken free of charge between 20 April and 31 July 2025.
Oracle adds an important caveat: total outcomes include pass, fail and revoke events and may not represent unique individuals. The figures also cover only a free promotion, when candidates had no fee at stake. Read them as a sign that the exam is not a formality, not as a general pass rate.

How much does the MySQL HeatWave Implementation Associate exam cost?
No Oracle source that loaded on 14 October 2026 states the current price of exam 1Z0-915-1. Oracle University’s August 2025 cost article lists the certification, but the US$245 figure in that article is given for the core Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications, so it is not applied to this exam here.
Between 20 April and 31 July 2025, as part of the 30 years of MySQL celebration, Oracle University offered this exam free of charge. That offer has ended. Check the price on the exam page during registration, and note that under Oracle’s fraud policy candidates found committing fraudulent activities forfeit all fees previously paid to Oracle.

MySQL HeatWave Implementation Associate prerequisites
No Oracle source that loaded states a formal prerequisite or a required prior certification for 1Z0-915-1.
In practice you need hands-on time in the OCI console: provisioning a DB system, configuring backups, setting up a read replica and adding a HeatWave cluster are tasks you should have performed yourself, not just read about.

Official MySQL HeatWave study materials
Oracle’s learning path for this certification, now titled MySQL HeatWave: Administration and Implementation in Oracle MyLearn, covers provisioning, configuring and managing MySQL HeatWave, including DB system management, Auto Parallel Load, AutoML, HeatWave Lakehouse and GenAI. It starts with the MySQL HeatWave: DB System Essentials course, which ends in an assessment and a badge.
Oracle MyLearn also offers a course called Prepare for MySQL HeatWave Implementation Certified Associate, aimed at the exam itself; it requires a subscription. Together with the HeatWave documentation, those are the official materials to build your preparation on.

Does the MySQL HeatWave certification expire?
Oracle’s Certification Program Guidelines set fixed validity periods for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications (24 months) and Oracle Cloud Applications certifications (18 months), and note that certain Oracle Database credentials require periodic recertification. They do not mention MySQL certifications.
Because the exam page could not be read, this page does not state whether the MySQL HeatWave Implementation Associate expires. Check the certification details in your Oracle certification account after you pass.

MySQL HeatWave exam dumps and Oracle’s fraud policy
Oracle’s Certification Program Guidelines state that any contribution to, use of, or sharing of materials pertaining to Oracle certification exams — what Oracle calls brain dumps — is a violation of its Fraudulent Activity Policy. Candidates are responsible for making sure their preparation materials are legitimate.
Sanctions can include decertification, a temporary, indefinite or permanent ban, and forfeiting all fees paid to Oracle. On an exam built around operational tasks, a memorised answer list also leaves you unprepared for the work the certification is supposed to prove.
