What is the SnowPro Advanced Data Engineer certification?
SnowPro Advanced: Data Engineer is one of Snowflake’s role-based advanced certifications. Snowflake says it validates advanced knowledge and skills used to apply comprehensive data engineering principles using Snowflake.
The intended candidate has 2 or more years of hands-on experience as a data engineer in a production environment. It is not an introductory exam: it assumes you already build and run pipelines on Snowflake and tests whether you can design them well.

DEA-C02: the current exam version
The current exam code is DEA-C02. Snowflake released it in English on 18 February 2025, and states that effective 31 March 2025, only DEA-C02 is available in English. The earlier DEA-C01 remained available only in Japanese until a Japanese DEA-C02 was ready, which Snowflake said would follow several months after launch.
Snowflake describes the update as reflecting new features and best practices. The number of content domains is unchanged, but some topics and sub-topics were removed, revised or reorganised, and Snowflake says the difficulty is the same as DEA-C01. There was no beta period.
If you studied from DEA-C01 material, compare it with the DEA-C02 study guide before booking — the differences are in the details, not in the overall structure.

SnowPro Advanced Data Engineer exam format
DEA-C02 has a total of 65 questions. The question types are multiple select, multiple choice and interactive items such as drag-and-drop and matching. Scores are released at the close of the exam.
Snowflake’s certification page and exam FAQs do not state the time limit. Check the current duration in the official study guide or during registration rather than relying on a figure from elsewhere.
Exams are delivered through Pearson VUE, at more than 1,000 testing centers worldwide or remotely at home with a virtual proctor. Test-center appointments must be rescheduled or cancelled at least 24 hours in advance.

SnowPro Advanced Data Engineer passing score
Snowflake reports results on a scale of 0–1000, and the SnowPro Program Policies state a passing scaled score of 750.
A scaled score is not a raw percentage. Snowflake says all SnowPro exams are statistically balanced against the published exam specifications, so 750 does not translate into a fixed number of the 65 questions.

How much does the SnowPro Advanced Data Engineer certification cost?
The DEA-C02 certification page does not show a price. Snowflake’s continuing education page lists “SnowPro Advanced $375 USD” under its fees. Treat that as the published figure for SnowPro Advanced and confirm the amount you are charged during Pearson VUE registration, as local taxes and currency can differ.
Each attempt costs the full exam fee — Snowflake’s policies state that each exam attempt requires full payment, with no free or discounted retakes.

Retakes and validity
If you fail, you must wait seven days before another attempt, and you may retake a given Snowflake exam four times within a 12-month period. Breaking the retake policy invalidates the attempt, and Snowflake says repeat violators may be permanently banned from the certification programme.
All Snowflake certifications expire two years after the credential award date. To renew SnowPro Advanced: Data Engineer you can pass the recertification exam, DEA-R02, which always reflects the current exam version. Snowflake’s continuing education programme offers two further routes: earn an equivalent, complementary or higher-level certification, or complete one eligible Snowflake instructor-led training course.
Snowflake does not offer certification date extensions, so renew before the expiry date.

Official study materials and practice exam
Snowflake recommends combining hands-on experience with instructor-led training, on-demand courses and self-study. The DEA-C02 study guide is the official reference for scope.
Snowflake also offers an official practice exam for this certification, DEA-P02. Snowflake describes its practice exams as built using the same specifications and domain weightings as the live certification exams.

SnowPro Advanced Data Engineer dumps
Collections of “real exam questions” sold as dumps are not a reliable way to prepare. They are unverified, they may be built on the retired DEA-C01 version, and they teach recall of answers rather than the design judgement the exam is built to test.
Snowflake requires every candidate to review and accept its Certification Terms & Conditions during registration; failing to agree means you cannot register. The safe route is Snowflake’s own study guide, the official DEA-P02 practice exam and hands-on work in a Snowflake account.
