What is the SnowPro Associate: Platform certification?
SnowPro Associate: Platform is Snowflake’s associate-level certification. Snowflake says it validates essential Snowflake skills, including data management and AI/ML integration, and it opened for registration and delivery on 3 February 2025.
It sits below SnowPro Core, which Snowflake calls its foundational certification, and the two are linked: earning SnowPro Core extends your SnowPro Associate Platform certification. For someone new to Snowflake, that makes the associate exam a sensible first step that does not become a dead end when you move up.
The exam is aimed at people with a few months of hands-on use rather than years of architecture work. Snowflake recommends at least three months of knowledge with Snowflake, or its instructor-led Snowflake Platform Training course, before you sit it.

How much does the SnowPro Associate certification cost?
The SnowPro Associate certification exam costs US$100. That is the registration price Snowflake lists in its official FAQ for the Platform exam.
Two rules affect what you actually pay. First, once purchased you have 24 hours to launch and complete the exam; if you miss that window the fee is forfeited and you can only buy again after a seven-day wait. Second, Snowflake’s programme policies say there are no free retakes or discounts on retakes, so every attempt is a full-price purchase. Buy the exam only when you have a clear 90-minute slot in the next day.

SnowPro Associate: Platform exam format
The exam has 65 questions in an 85-minute testing period. Snowflake adds five minutes for the candidate agreement and the end-of-exam survey, so the session runs about 90 minutes in total.
Question types are multiple choice, multiple select and interactive items such as matching and drag-and-drop. Multiple select questions need every correct option, so read the instruction line on each item.
The delivery model is the unusual part. Snowflake delivers the associate-level exam unproctored through Pearson VUE, with a 24-hour window after purchase in which you must launch and finish it.

SnowPro Associate Platform passing score
Snowflake’s SnowPro programme policies state that Snowflake uses a scale of 0–1000 with a passing scaled score of 750. The policy is written for Snowflake exams in general; the Associate: Platform FAQ does not name a separate score, so treat 750 as the programme rule rather than a figure Snowflake has repeated for this exam specifically.
A scaled score is not a percentage. Snowflake says scores are set through statistical analysis and scaled across exam forms, item difficulty and versions, so you cannot convert 750 into a fixed number of correct answers out of 65.

What topics does the SnowPro Associate: Platform exam cover?
Snowflake lists the exam’s subject areas in its FAQ and refers to the official study guide for the detailed outline. Snowflake does not publish domain weightings in the FAQ, and the study guide could not be checked for this page, so no percentages are given here.
The listed topics are practical. They cover the interfaces you use to work in Snowflake, Snowflake Notebooks, managing data, how accounts and roles fit together, and Snowflake Cortex LLM functions — the areas a new user meets in the first months on the platform.

SnowPro Associate Platform requirements
There are no prerequisites for the SnowPro Associate Platform certification. You do not need another Snowflake credential, and no course is mandatory.
Snowflake’s recommendation is either the instructor-led Snowflake Platform Training course, three or more months of hands-on knowledge with Snowflake, or both. Because the exam includes interactive items about the interfaces and notebooks, time spent working in a real Snowflake account is the most direct preparation.

How long is the SnowPro Associate certification valid?
The credential is active for two years. Snowflake’s programme policies state that all Snowflake certifications expire two years after the credential award date.
To extend it, Snowflake names one route in the Associate FAQ: earning the SnowPro Core certification extends your SnowPro Associate Platform certification. If a certification lapses and becomes inactive, the policies require you to retake the original exam.

SnowPro Associate retake policy
If you do not pass, Snowflake’s policies require a seven-day wait before you can attempt the exam again, and allow a given Snowflake exam to be taken four times in a 12-month period.
There are no free retakes or retake discounts. Attempts that break the retake policy are invalidated, and using multiple profiles to get around it leads to all exams being invalidated with fees forfeited.

SnowPro Associate: Platform vs SnowPro Core
SnowPro Associate: Platform is the associate-level exam; SnowPro Core is Snowflake’s foundational certification and the gateway to the SnowPro Advanced track (Architect, Data Engineer, Data Scientist, Administrator and Data Analyst).
The practical differences for a candidate: the associate exam is unproctored, must be completed within 24 hours of purchase and needs no prior credential. And the two connect, because passing Core extends your Associate certification. If you already work with Snowflake daily, going straight to Core is an option; if you are newer, the associate exam is the shorter first step.
