How much is the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam?
AWS’s certification FAQ states that business-category and foundational-level exams are 100 USD, and Cloud Practitioner is foundational. The certification page gives the same figure and notes that additional costs can apply, including foreign exchange.
AWS also publishes a table of exam prices in local currencies for countries that do not pay in US dollars. Applicable taxes come on top, and each price is valid for one exam attempt.

What the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam fee covers
The fee buys one attempt at the 90-minute, 65-question exam, either at a Pearson VUE test centre or online proctored — AWS lists no price difference between the two.
It does not cover a retake. If you fail, you wait 14 calendar days and pay again for the next attempt. Nor is it refundable if you cancel late: you can cancel or reschedule free of charge up to 24 hours before your appointment, but a cancellation inside 24 hours or a no-show forfeits the fee.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam voucher
A voucher is a prepaid exam attempt. AWS states that vouchers are available for purchase online at any time, and names Pearson VUE as its authorised reseller and distributor of AWS Certification exam vouchers.
Two rules are worth knowing before you buy an AWS Cloud Practitioner voucher. A voucher intended to cover 100% of an exam stays valid for the full price even if exchange rates change, and voucher expiry dates cannot be extended — so plan to sit the exam before it runs out.

The 50% discount after you pass
Once you hold an AWS certification, AWS gives you access to a 50% discount voucher that you can apply to recertification or to any other AWS exam. If Cloud Practitioner is your first step towards an associate certification, that discount lowers the cost of the next one.

Cost of AWS Cloud Practitioner exam preparation
AWS states that training is recommended but not mandatory, so preparation costs are up to you. A good part of the official material is free on AWS Skill Builder: the Official Practice Question Sets of 20 questions, the 2-hour Exam Prep course and AWS Cloud Quest.
The Official Practice Exam and the longer subscription Exam Prep course, with 6 to 8 hours of material, require a Skill Builder subscription. AWS lists the Individual subscription at 29 USD per month or 449 USD per year.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner cost over three years
The certification is valid for three years. To keep it, AWS lists three routes: pass the latest version of the Cloud Practitioner exam, pass an associate or professional exam, or complete AWS Cloud Quest: Recertify Cloud Practitioner, a game-based option that needs no exam.
Passing an associate exam within the three years is the route that both renews Cloud Practitioner and moves you up a level, and the 50% discount applies to it.
