Cisco DevNet Associate certification — now called CCNA Automation
The Cisco DevNet Associate certification no longer exists under that name: on 3 February 2026 Cisco rebranded it as CCNA Automation, and active DevNet Associate holders are recognised as CCNA Automation automatically. The exam keeps its number — 200-901, now titled Automating Networks Using Cisco Platforms (CCNAAUTO) v1.1 — at $US300 for 120 minutes, with no prerequisites.

What is the Cisco DevNet Associate certification?
The Cisco DevNet Associate certification was Cisco’s associate-level credential for network automation and software development on Cisco platforms. Since 3 February 2026 it is called CCNA Automation. The subject has not changed: understanding and using APIs, software design and development, application deployment and security, scripting and unit testing, workflow automation and infrastructure as code.
It is aimed at network engineers who automate, and at developers who build against network platforms. It is earned with a single exam, 200-901, and Cisco lists no prerequisites. Passing that one exam is the whole certification — there is no second exam at this level.
In Cisco’s ladder it is the associate rung of the automation track: CCNA Automation, then CCNP Automation, then CCIE Automation — the same three levels that used to be DevNet Associate, DevNet Professional and DevNet Expert.

DevNet Associate renamed: what changed with CCNA Automation?
Cisco announced on 27 May 2025 that on 3 February 2026 the DevNet certification track would be rebranded as CCNA, CCNP and CCIE Automation. That date has passed. Cisco’s certification page now carries the heading CCNA Automation, and the exam is listed as 200-901 CCNAAUTO rather than 200-901 DEVASC.
If you already hold an active DevNet Associate certification, you do not need to take anything new: Cisco stated that active DevNet Associate, Professional and Expert holders would automatically be recognised at the matching CCNA, CCNP or CCIE Automation level from 3 February 2026.
If you are planning to start, you are booking CCNA Automation. The exam number 200-901 is the identifier that did not move, which is why older study material and searches for DevNet Associate still point to the same exam. Check that anything you study from matches the current v1.1 CCNAAUTO exam topics.

How much does the Cisco DevNet Associate certification cost?
Cisco lists the 200-901 CCNAAUTO exam at $US300, or Cisco Learning Credits. Because the certification is a single exam, that is the full exam cost on a first-attempt pass.
Cisco does not publish a separate retake fee. Its policy sets the waiting periods: five calendar days after a failed associate-level exam before you can retest, and 180 days before you may retake an exam you have already passed.
Training is priced separately — although Cisco Networking Academy lists free courses among its preparation routes. Cisco publishes no salary data with the certification.

What is the DevNet Associate (CCNA Automation) exam format?
The exam runs 120 minutes. Cisco’s exam and training page lists it in English and Japanese; the certification overview page lists English. Grading is pass/fail, with results online within 48 hours.
Cisco does not publish the number of questions or a breakdown of question types for 200-901. Any fixed count you read elsewhere is not a Cisco figure.
Cisco states that all associate, professional and expert written exams are offered both in person and online, with registration through Pearson VUE, so you can choose a test centre or an online appointment.

DevNet Associate passing score
Cisco does not publish a passing score for 200-901. Its exam policy states that passing scores are set by statistical analysis and are not published because exam questions and passing scores are subject to change and may vary exam to exam, without notice.
So there is no target percentage. For preparation, the weightings are the useful numbers: APIs and Infrastructure and Automation each carry 20%, and every other domain 15%. A gap in any one domain is a bigger risk than a few points on average.

What is on the 200-901 exam?
Cisco publishes the 200-901 CCNAAUTO v1.1 exam topics with six weighted domains. The weighting is flat: no single domain exceeds a fifth of the exam, and Network Fundamentals is still 15% — networking knowledge is part of the exam, not assumed.
Cisco notes that the topic list is a general guideline that may change at any time without notice. Content-wise, v1.1 under the CCNAAUTO name carries the same six domains and weightings as the earlier DEVASC v1.1 list.
- Software Development and Design — 15%
- Understanding and Using APIs — 20%
- Cisco Platforms and Development — 15%
- Application Deployment and Security — 15%
- Infrastructure and Automation — 20%
- Network Fundamentals — 15%

DevNet Associate prerequisites, and how long it is valid
Cisco lists “Prerequisites: None”. You do not need CCNA (200-301) first, there is no degree requirement and no stated experience requirement.
The certification is valid for three years. Cisco states that you can renew with Continuing Education credits or by retaking exams before they expire, and 200-901 is marked as usable toward recertification. The page does not state how many Continuing Education credits are required.

The exam topics list for 200-901 CCNAAUTO v1.1 is the authoritative scope. Cisco also runs an official course, Automating Networks Using Cisco Platforms (CCNAAUTO).
The certification page lists Cisco’s own preparation routes: Cisco U., Cisco Networking Academy with free courses in person and online, instructor-led courses through Cisco and authorised Learning Partners via the Cisco Learning Locator, Cisco Press books, and Cisco Modeling Labs as a hands-on practice environment.

DevNet Associate vs CCNA, and the step to CCNP Automation
CCNA (200-301) and CCNA Automation (200-901) are now siblings at the associate level. Both are single exams at $US300 and 120 minutes with no prerequisites, valid for three years. CCNA is about building and running networks; CCNA Automation is about programming and automating them, with networking fundamentals at 15% of the exam.
The next step up is CCNP Automation (formerly DevNet Professional). It takes a core exam, 350-901 AUTOCOR (Designing, Deploying and Managing Network Automation Systems) at $US400, plus one concentration — 300-435 ENAUTO or 300-635 DCNAUTO at $US300. Cisco lists no prerequisites there either, so 200-901 is a recommendation, not a gate.

DevNet Associate practice questions
Certsqill’s DevNet Associate and CCNA Automation practice questions explain each option, and the bank is weighted the way Cisco weights 200-901 — APIs and infrastructure automation first.

Cisco DevNet certifications after the rename
The three Cisco DevNet certifications — Associate, Professional and Expert — now carry the names CCNA, CCNP and CCIE Automation. If your CV, LinkedIn profile or employer’s job ad still says Cisco Certified DevNet Associate, that refers to the same level of credential as CCNA Automation today, and Cisco stated that active holders are recognised under the new name automatically.
For anyone looking for the Cisco Certified DevNet Associate certification now: you register for exam 200-901 CCNAAUTO, and the certificate you earn says CCNA Automation. The DevNet name survives mainly in older study material, community resources and search habits.

Using the CCNA Automation exam topics as your syllabus
The CCNA Automation exam topics PDF for 200-901 v1.1 is the syllabus. It lists every subtopic under the six domains shown above, and Cisco notes that it may change without notice — so download the current version from Cisco rather than relying on a copy saved months ago.
A practical way to use it: work through each subtopic and mark whether you can do it hands-on (call a REST API, parse JSON or YAML, read a Python script, write an Ansible or Terraform snippet), only explain it, or not at all. Most of the exam is about doing, so the “explain only” items deserve lab time.

Cisco DevNet training and bootcamp options
Cisco’s official route for DevNet training is the course Automating Networks Using Cisco Platforms (CCNAAUTO), offered through Cisco U. and authorised Learning Partners found via the Cisco Learning Locator. Cisco Networking Academy lists free courses, and Cisco Modeling Labs gives you a lab environment for practice.
If you are looking at a bootcamp, check whether it is run by a Cisco Learning Partner, whether it follows the current CCNAAUTO v1.1 topics rather than the older DEVASC naming only, and how much of the time is spent writing and running code against real or simulated devices.

200-901 dumps and Cisco’s exam policy
200-901 dumps advertise real exam questions. Cisco’s policies state that exam content is Cisco’s confidential property and may not be copied, published or distributed, and that disclosure of exam content is strictly prohibited. Penalties can go up to a lifetime ban on all future exams and the nullification of all previous certifications.
Apart from the risk, there is no way to verify that a dump is accurate or current — and memorised answers do not teach you to call an API or debug a script, which is the skill the certification is supposed to prove.

Is DevNet Associate (CCNA Automation) worth it?
It is worth it if automation is, or is becoming, part of your job: the exam pushes you through APIs, scripting, infrastructure as code and deployment on Cisco platforms, and that preparation pays off at work regardless of the certificate. It also counts toward recertification of other Cisco certifications.
If you never write code or touch automation tools, the regular CCNA is the closer fit. Cisco publishes no salary data for either, and we do not quote unofficial figures.
