JNCIP-SEC is Juniper’s professional-level security certification. The current exam, JN0-637, has 65 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, is offered only in English, requires an active JNCIS-SEC, and the certification is valid for three years. What is the JNCIP-SEC certification?
JNCIP-SEC stands for Juniper Networks Certified Professional, Security. It is the third step of Juniper’s security track: above JNCIA-SEC (associate) and JNCIS-SEC (specialist), and below JNCIE-SEC (expert). Juniper aims the written exam at experienced networking professionals working with Junos OS on SRX Series devices.
Where the specialist level checks that you can configure the core security features, the professional level goes into the harder cases: troubleshooting policies and zones, logical and tenant systems, Layer 2 security, advanced NAT and IPsec designs, advanced policy-based routing, multinode high availability and automated threat mitigation.

JNCIP-SEC exam status: JN0-637 and the move to HPE Networking
JN0-637 is the current JNCIP-SEC exam. Juniper announced it in April 2024, launched it on 10 June 2024, and ended JN0-636 on 9 June 2024. JN0-636 had itself replaced JN0-635 in October 2022, so material written for either earlier code is out of date.
On 15 September 2026 the Juniper Networks Certification Program was renamed the HPE Networking Certification Program. Logins to Alpine CertMetrics moved to hpe.com credentials, and proctored written exams are now scheduled, managed and launched through Alpine CertMetrics. The announcement lists no change to certification names such as JNCIP-SEC or to exam codes.
The JN0-637 objectives are based on Junos OS 22.2 and Security Director 22.1. Make sure your lab images and notes match that release.

How much does the JNCIP-SEC exam cost?
Juniper does not print a JN0-637 exam fee on the JNCIP-SEC overview page, on the datasheet or in its Certification Program Policies. The policies state only that exam fees are due for no-shows and that cancelling or rescheduling less than 24 hours before the appointment incurs a same-day forfeit fee. The fee itself is shown when you schedule.
There is an official way to reduce it. Juniper’s free on-demand Open Learning course for JNCIP-SEC includes a voucher assessment: score 70% or higher and you receive a discount voucher code for the written exam, valid for 30 days. Juniper does not state the size of the discount on that page.
Factor retakes into the budget. A failed attempt means paying again, and after a second or later failure you must wait 14 calendar days before you can retest.

JNCIP-SEC exam format and passing score
The JN0-637 exam has 65 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 90 minutes, a little under 1.4 minutes per question. It is offered only in English. Your pass/fail status appears immediately after the exam, and valid results are available in CertMetrics within three business days.
There is no published pass mark. Juniper’s policies state that passing scores are set by statistical analysis for each individual test, may differ between exams, and are not published. The official practice exam uses a 70% threshold, but Juniper explicitly says that is not necessarily the passing score of the live exam — so treat any quoted percentage as unofficial.

What is on the JNCIP-SEC exam?
Juniper lists eight objective areas for JN0-637. The sub-topics show the professional level clearly: these are design and troubleshooting topics, not first-time configuration. Juniper does not publish a weighting per area, so plan to cover all eight.
- Troubleshooting Security Policies and Security Zones — logging, tracing and other outputs
- Logical Systems and Tenant Systems — administrative roles, security profiles, inter-system communication, tenant capacity
- Layer 2 Security — transparent mode, mixed mode, secure wire, MACsec, EVPN-VXLAN security
- Advanced NAT — persistent NAT, DNS doctoring, IPv6 NAT
- Advanced IPsec VPNs — hub-and-spoke, PKI, auto discovery VPNs, routing over IPsec, overlapping addresses, dynamic gateways, IPsec CoS
- Advanced Policy-Based Routing (APBR) — profiles, policies, routing instances, options
- Multinode High Availability — chassis cluster versus multinode HA, deployment modes, services redundancy groups, interchassis link, active/active and active/passive
- Automated Threat Mitigation — third-party or multicloud integration, Secure Enterprise

JNCIP-SEC prerequisites
You need JNCIS-SEC before you can earn JNCIP-SEC, and the free Open Learning course for JNCIP-SEC requires an active JNCIS-SEC certification to register. The overview page lists no experience requirement beyond that prerequisite, but the objectives assume you already configure SRX security policies, NAT and VPNs comfortably.
Passing JN0-637 also recertifies your lower-level certifications in the security track, including JNCIS-SEC, so moving up keeps the specialist credential current.

JNCIP-SEC study guide and training
Juniper’s recommended training is the Advanced Juniper Security course. The certification page also links practice exams, exam prep webinars and additional resources, and Juniper notes that none of these is required and that using them does not guarantee a pass.
The free Open Learning course is the cheapest official starting point: on-demand, six months of access, no cost — but virtual labs are not included, so you need your own lab. For JN0-637 that matters, because multinode HA, logical systems and ADVPN behaviour are hard to understand from slides alone.
A workable study plan: take the eight objective areas as your syllabus, build each feature on vSRX or SRX hardware, break it deliberately, and fix it with the logging and tracing tools the first objective names. Use the official practice exam last, as a check rather than as a source of answers.

JNCIP-SEC dumps and exam rules
Juniper’s certification policies state that exam questions, answers and diagrams are confidential and may not be copied, reproduced or shared without authorisation, and that penalties can include revoked exam results and a ban from the certification programme. A JN0-637 dump is exactly that kind of shared content.
Dumps are also poor preparation for this level. The exam leans on troubleshooting and design judgement, and memorised answers — often outdated, often wrong — do not tell you why a multinode HA failover or an ADVPN shortcut behaves the way it does.

How long is JNCIP-SEC valid and how do you recertify?
Juniper certifications are valid for three years. To keep JNCIP-SEC active, pass the professional-level security exam again or move up by passing the expert-level exam in the same track, before the certification expires. Passing either also recertifies the lower-level certifications in the security track.
Note the timing rule: once you pass a written exam, you must wait at least 18 months before sitting the same exam again, which fits a recertification within the three-year window.

JNCIP-SEC practice questions
Certsqill’s JNCIP-SEC practice questions are expert-developed and mapped to the eight JN0-637 objective areas. Every question explains each answer option — why the right one is right and why each distractor fails — so a wrong answer teaches you the Junos behaviour behind it.
Your readiness score is shown per domain, so you can see whether advanced IPsec, multinode HA or logical systems is the gap before you spend an exam attempt. Certsqill comes with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
