AI-102 or AI-103: which exam exists?
Start here, because the search results are split. Microsoft’s certification for developing AI apps and agents on Azure is sat as Exam AI-103, and the certification is called Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate. Checked 24 September 2026.
Almost all the search traffic still says AI-102. If your study material carries that code, check its date: the current study guide gives 30–35% of the exam to generative AI and agentic solutions, which is the part older material will be thinnest on.

What is the exam format and passing score?
Microsoft gives 120 minutes and rates the exam Intermediate. The passing score is 700, because Microsoft reports all technical exam scores on a scale of 1 to 1,000 and states that 700 or greater is a pass — a scaled score, not a share of questions.
Microsoft publishes no question count, so any fixed number you are quoted comes from somewhere else. Formally there are no prerequisites — Microsoft names no required prior certification. What it does publish is the weighting of the five skill areas:
- Plan and manage an Azure AI solution — 25–30%
- Implement generative AI and agentic solutions — 30–35%
- Implement computer vision solutions — 10–15%
- Implement text analysis solutions — 10–15%
- Implement information extraction solutions — 10–15%

Where can you find AI-102 practice questions?
This site holds 1,300 practice questions for the exam. Every question shows all options, which one is correct, and why each of the others is wrong.
Simulation questions mean the scenario-style items, and case study questions the longer ones built on a single fictional customer — both are what the exam is mostly made of at this level.
What you will not find here are dumps, meaning recycled live exam content; on an exam whose code and generative-AI weighting both moved, a leaked set is worth even less than usual. These questions are written against Microsoft’s published study guide instead.
What study guide do you need?
Microsoft publishes the study guide, and it is what defines scope; the current one is published under AI-103, not AI-102. Microsoft also runs free learning paths and a practice assessment.

AI-102 vs AI-900
AI-102 vs AI-900 is a level question. The fundamentals exam — now AI-901 — describes AI on Azure; this one builds and deploys it, and Microsoft rates it Intermediate rather than Beginner. Neither is a prerequisite for the other.

Who the AI-103 certification is for
The AI-103 certification — Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate — targets the roles Microsoft labels AI Engineer and Developer. Microsoft describes the expected background as experience developing apps with Python and familiarity with the capabilities of general AI, generative AI and Azure services.
That makes the Microsoft AI-103 certification a builder’s credential. If your work is designing AI strategy rather than writing code against Azure services and SDKs, the fundamentals level is the better starting point.

Official AI-103 course and training
Microsoft’s instructor-led AI-103 course is AI-103T00, “Develop AI apps and agents on Azure”: a four-day, intermediate course for software engineers who build, manage and deploy AI solutions with Microsoft Foundry. Microsoft states that you can prepare either through instructor-led training or self-paced study on Microsoft Learn.
Whichever training you choose, line it up against the AI-103 study guide. The generative AI and agentic solutions area carries 30–35% of the exam, so a course that spends most of its time on classic vision and language services will leave the largest section underprepared.

Trying the AI-103 certification exam before exam day
Microsoft offers two official ways to get a feel for the AI-103 certification exam. The exam sandbox lets you click through the exam interface and question types without any real content. The Practice Assessment, available on AI Skills Navigator after signing in, gives you sample questions from Microsoft.
Use the sandbox once so the interface is not a surprise; use practice questions repeatedly, and track your results by skill area rather than by overall score.

Keeping your Azure AI-103 certification current
Microsoft associate certifications are renewed online, and Microsoft states that renewals are free. The renewal assessment opens in the six months before your certification expires. Because Azure AI services and agent tooling change quickly, the renewal is a reasonable checkpoint for what has moved since you passed.
