What is the OCI Architect Associate certification?

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Associate is Oracle’s associate-level credential for people who design and build on OCI. It sits above the free OCI Foundations level and below the Architect Professional, and it covers the core building blocks of the platform: identity and access management, networking, compute and storage.

Exam codes in Oracle’s OCI track carry the year of the version. 1Z0-1072-25 is the 2025 version of the Architect Associate exam; Oracle’s exam catalogue lists the 2026 version as 1Z0-1072-26. The credential itself is the same certification, refreshed each year.

Is 1Z0-1072-25 still current? The 2026 update

Oracle announced its 2026 OCI certification updates on August 10, 2026. Two changes matter for this exam. First, certifications no longer carry the calendar year: you now earn the “OCI Architect Associate” rather than an “OCI 2025 Architect Associate”. Second, Oracle made the OCI Architect Associate course and certification completely free.

Oracle’s announcement does not state a retirement date for 1Z0-1072-25. If you are searching for the 2025 exam code, check on Oracle’s exam page which version is offered when you register, and prepare against the current course rather than against 2025 material.

How much does the OCI Architect Associate exam cost?

As of the August 2026 update, nothing. Oracle states that the OCI Architect Associate course and certification are now completely free, and its Japanese announcement confirms that both the training and the certification exam became free of charge.

Because there is no fee, there is also no reason to use questionable shortcuts to “save” an attempt. The real cost of failing is the time until you can sit again.

1Z0-1072-25 exam format and passing score

For the 2025 version, Oracle University stated that the exam comprises 50 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 90 minutes, and that candidates need a minimum score of 68% to pass. That is a little under two minutes per question.

For the 2026 version, the exam page on Oracle’s site did not render for us, and the August 2026 announcement gives no question count, duration or passing score. Confirm those three numbers on the exam page before you book rather than assuming they carried over unchanged.

What is on the OCI Architect Associate exam?

Oracle describes the 2025 exam as covering Identity and Access Management, Networking, and Compute & Storage. The 2025 refresh added Oracle OS Management Hub — central management of OS updates, patches and compliance across OCI instances — and current best practice for refining IAM policies.

Oracle’s 2026 Architect Associate course follows the same four pillars, so expect questions in these areas:

• Identity and Access Management (IAM) — controlling access to cloud resources
• Networking — designing and configuring Virtual Cloud Networks, plus Network Command Center services
• Compute — running applications on compute instances
• Storage — Block, Object and File Storage

How long is the OCI Architect Associate certification valid?

Oracle’s certification guidelines state that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications are valid for 24 months from the date the credential is earned. Since Oracle refreshes the OCI exams yearly, staying current means taking a newer version before the 24 months run out.

You cannot retake an exam you have already passed. If you fail, Oracle allows a retake; the guidelines do not print a fixed waiting period in the text we could read, so check the date offered when you reschedule.

OCI Architect Associate study materials

The official preparation is Oracle’s own learning path on Oracle MyLearn: “Become an OCI Architect Associate”, with the 2026 course covering IAM, Virtual Cloud Networks and Network Command Center, compute, and block, object and file storage. Oracle also publishes an official practice exam for the Architect Associate on MyLearn.

Hands-on work in an OCI tenancy makes the difference on an architecture exam. Build a VCN with public and private subnets, write IAM policies for compartments and groups, launch instances, and attach block volumes — the questions assume you know how these pieces behave together.

OCI Architect Associate salary

Oracle does not publish salary data for the OCI Architect Associate, and this page does not repeat unverified figures from elsewhere. What Oracle does document is the scope: an associate-level architect who can design IAM, networking, compute and storage on OCI. Oracle’s certification guidelines treat any contribution to, use of, or sharing of materials pertaining to Oracle certification exams — brain dumps included — as a violation, and make candidates responsible for the materials they use to prepare.

In the candidate agreement you agree to keep the test confidential and not to use unauthorised materials, explicitly including unauthorised certification content provided by third parties.
