What is the Oracle AI Foundations certification?
When people search for the Oracle AI Foundations certification, they mean the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure AI Foundations Associate — usually shortened to OCI AI Foundations. It is issued by Oracle University and sits at the Foundations level, the entry tier of Oracle’s cloud certification track.
Oracle describes the learning path behind it as an introduction to the fundamental concepts of AI, machine learning, deep learning and generative AI, with a focus on how those technologies are applied within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. It is aimed at beginners: Oracle lists no prerequisites, no prior familiarity with AI or ML and no coding experience.
That positioning matters for what the cert proves. It shows you understand the vocabulary and the main concepts and can place Oracle’s AI services and infrastructure on that map. It is not a hands-on engineering credential; for building generative AI applications on OCI, Oracle has a separate Professional-level certification.

Is the OCI AI Foundations Associate certification free?
Yes. In its 2025 overview of certification costs, Oracle University names three OCI certifications that are completely free, and the OCI AI Foundations Associate is one of them. Free means the learning path — lessons, skill checks and practice exams — and the certification exam attempt itself.
Oracle confirmed in August 2026, when it published the 2026 updates to its OCI learning paths and exams, that every Foundations-level course and certification stays free. Professional-level courses moved to paid access in that release, but the Foundations tier did not.
For comparison, the same 2025 article gives US$245 as the exam attempt price for the other core OCI associate and professional certifications. The AI Foundations exam is outside that pricing.

OCI AI Foundations exam: questions, time and passing score
When Oracle launched the certification in September 2023 (exam 1Z0-1122-23), it described the exam as 30 questions to be answered in 60 minutes, with a pass percentage of 60%, taken online on the MyLearn platform.
Those numbers belong to the 2023 version. Oracle publishes a new exam version regularly, and the current one is 1Z0-1122-26. Its official exam page could not be read for this page, so the question count, time limit and passing score of the current version are not confirmed here. Check them on the Oracle University exam page before you book rather than relying on figures from an older version.
What is confirmed for the current learning path is the delivery: Oracle describes it as the OCI AI Foundations course plus an online certification exam, together with a practice exam and an exam prep lesson.

What is on the OCI AI Foundations exam?
At launch, Oracle listed nine abilities the exam validates. They give a good picture of the scope, although Oracle has not published a weighting for them, and the current version may have shifted the emphasis — Oracle’s 2026 learning path still describes the same four pillars of AI, machine learning, deep learning and generative AI.
The course behind the certification had six modules: the first four cover AI and machine learning fundamentals without requiring programming experience, a mathematical background or familiarity with any cloud provider; the last two cover Oracle’s AI infrastructure and AI services.
- Understand and describe AI concepts and workloads
- Explain the key concepts and terminologies of machine learning
- Explain the key concepts and terminologies of deep learning
- Identify common machine learning types
- Understand the fundamentals of generative AI
- Understand large language model concepts
- Explain prompt engineering and fine-tuning for LLMs
- Describe Oracle AI infrastructure
- Describe Oracle AI services

1Z0-1122-25 vs 1Z0-1122-26: which exam version is current?
Oracle versions its cloud exams by year, which is why you see codes such as 1Z0-1122-25 and 1Z0-1122-26. Oracle University currently lists 1Z0-1122-26 under the title Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2026 AI Foundations Associate, and MyLearn lists the same exam simply as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure AI Foundations Associate.
The naming changed with the 2026 release: Oracle announced that certification titles and logos no longer include the calendar year. The exam code still carries the version suffix.
The 2025 learning path for this certification carried the notice that it would be archived on 30 September 2026. Whether the 1Z0-1122-25 exam itself can still be booked could not be confirmed for this page, so prepare for the current version and check the exam code on the booking page.

How long is the OCI AI Foundations certification valid?
Oracle’s Certification Program Guidelines state that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications are valid for a period of 24 months from the date the credential is earned. Oracle repeated the same rule in its August 2026 announcement of the 2026 exam updates.
The guidelines also state that candidates may not retake a passed exam at any time, so staying current means moving to the newer exam version when it is released rather than resitting the one you already passed.

OCI AI Foundations course and official practice exam
The official preparation route is Oracle’s own learning path on MyLearn. Oracle describes it as the OCI AI Foundations course, an online certification exam, a practice exam and an exam prep lesson — all part of the free Foundations offer.
Because the course was built for beginners, it starts from first principles. That makes it the right first step even for people with a technical background who have not worked with machine learning before: the exam tests Oracle’s framing of the concepts as well as Oracle’s services.
In 2025 Oracle also said you can schedule as many attempts as you need for its free Foundations certifications. It has not repeated that statement for the 2026 programme, so treat it as the 2025 position.

OCI AI Foundations Associate 2025 dumps and 1Z0-1122-25 dumps
Searches for “OCI AI Foundations Associate 2025 dumps” or “1Z0-1122-25 dumps” are looking for leaked exam questions. Oracle’s Certification Program Guidelines treat any contribution to, use of, or sharing of materials pertaining to Oracle certification exams — brain dumps — as a violation, and Oracle explicitly advises candidates to avoid exam dump websites and offers.
The guidelines also state that it is strictly prohibited to disclose or share the content of any Oracle Certification exam, and that candidates who break the rules may face sanctions. Beyond the risk, a dump for the 2025 version does not even match the current 1Z0-1122-26 exam.
Since the official course, practice exam and certification attempt are free anyway, there is no cost reason to look elsewhere.

OCI AI Foundations vs Oracle Agentic AI Foundations
In June 2026 Oracle University launched a second AI cert at the same level, the Oracle Agentic AI Foundations Associate. Oracle describes that exam as 40 questions within 60 minutes with a passing score of 65%, and the certification exam is free.
Oracle positions the two as a sequence rather than alternatives: in the Agentic AI Foundations announcement it says the OCI AI Foundations course is a good place to begin before diving into agentic AI. If you are new to AI, start with OCI AI Foundations; if you already know the basics and want to focus on AI agents and agentic patterns, the agentic track is the next step.
