What is the OCI Developer Professional certification?

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Developer Professional is Oracle’s professional-level cert for developers who build and run applications on OCI. Oracle summarises the track as covering the entire OCI cloud-native stack, including Oracle Kubernetes Engine, Service Mesh, API Gateway, serverless functions, streaming, queues and events.

Oracle says the course is designed for cloud developers and architects, and earlier announcements name developers, software engineers and IT professionals. The common thread is hands-on work: designing microservices, packaging them as containers, deploying them on OKE or as functions, and wiring them together with APIs and event-driven services.

Since the 2026 update, certification titles no longer include a year. The credential that used to appear as “OCI 2024 Developer Professional” or “OCI 2025 Developer Professional” is now listed simply as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Developer Professional.

Which OCI Developer Professional exam is current?

Oracle’s certification page links Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Developer Professional to the exam 1Z0-1084-26 on Oracle MyLearn, checked on 14 October 2026. Previous versions were 1Z0-1084-24 and 1Z0-1084-25.

The 2025 learning path, “Become an OCI Developer Professional (2025)”, carries the notice that it will be archived on 30 September 2026. With the 2026 update Oracle also moved professional-level courses to paid access, so the official course for the current exam is no longer free by default.

How much does the OCI Developer Professional exam cost?

Oracle does not show the exam price on any page that could be read publicly for this article. The MyLearn exam page renders by JavaScript, and Oracle’s certification page only links to a page for buying an exam attempt.

Oracle does explain the purchase flow: you buy an exam attempt, choose a date and schedule the exam on Oracle MyLearn, and you have six months to sit it. Check the price shown at checkout for your region, and remember that the paid professional course is a separate cost.

OCI Developer Professional exam format and passing score

Oracle’s July 2024 announcement set the format at 50 questions, kept the duration at 90 minutes and set the pass percentage at 68%. The February 2025 announcement says the certification exam “remains consistent with previous years”, so the same figures applied to the 2025 version.

For 1Z0-1084-26, the current figures sit on the MyLearn exam page, which did not load publicly. The 2024 and 2025 figures are the best official reference, but confirm them on the exam page before you book, because Oracle refreshes OCI exams regularly.

Oracle states that all its OCI exams are delivered online, so no test center visit is needed.

What is on the OCI Developer Professional exam?

Oracle publishes the exam’s topic weighting only as an image in its announcements. The learning path describes the scope in text; after completing it Oracle expects you to be able to:

• Explore and implement microservices architecture and containerization
• Deploy and manage containerized applications with OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) and OCI Container Registry
• Build and deploy applications with OCI serverless offerings such as OCI Functions and API Gateway
• Use streaming, queues and events for real-time data processing and event-driven design
• Apply testing strategies for cloud-native and microservice deployments
• Secure applications with OCI Vault and image scanning
• Monitor performance, analyse logs and troubleshoot with OCI observability services

OCI Developer Professional prerequisites and recommended experience

Oracle does not name a mandatory prerequisite certification on its publicly readable pages. The learning path recommends a foundational understanding of OCI services and says familiarity with microservices architecture, containerization and Kubernetes will be advantageous, along with knowledge of serverless computing and basic programming skills.

The course is heavily practical. Oracle’s 2025 version includes 17 lab exercises aligned to the modules and a separate end-to-end workshop with more than 40 labs that walks through building a cloud-native application on OCI. If you have never deployed to OKE or written an OCI Function, start there.

How long is the OCI Developer Professional certification valid?

Oracle’s Certification Program Guidelines state that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications are valid for 24 months from the date the credential is earned, and Oracle repeated this in its 2026 update.

To stay current after two years you earn the credential again, in practice by passing the version of the exam that is current at the time.

OCI Developer Professional dumps and exam rules

Oracle is explicit about dumps. Its Certification Program Guidelines treat any contribution to, use of or sharing of materials pertaining to Oracle certification exams, so-called brain dumps, as a violation of its fraudulent activity policy. Oracle also makes it the candidate’s responsibility to check that the materials they buy or use to prepare comply.

The listed consequences include decertification, temporary or permanent bans, and forfeiting all fees previously paid to Oracle. Beyond the risk, a dump cannot teach you how to debug a failing OKE deployment or design an event-driven flow, which is what the exam is built around.

OCI Developer Professional study materials

Oracle’s preparation for this cert is the Developer Professional course on Oracle MyLearn with skill checks after each module, the lab subscription, the end-to-end workshop and an official practice exam. Oracle’s 2025 materials describe a 50-question practice exam.

OCI Developer Professional vs OCI DevOps Professional

Both are professional-level OCI certifications and both involve containers and OKE. Developer Professional centres on the application: microservices, functions, API Gateway, streaming, queues and events. DevOps Professional centres on delivery: CI/CD pipelines in the OCI DevOps service, infrastructure as code with Terraform and Resource Manager, DevSecOps and monitoring.

If you write the services, Developer Professional is the closer fit. If you own the pipeline and environments those services run in, look at DevOps Professional.
