UiPath Automation Developer Associate certification: exam, cost and training
The UiPath Certified Professional Automation Developer Associate is UiPath’s associate-level developer certification for people who can design and build simple automations on their own. The exam costs US$150 plus tax per attempt, is delivered by Pearson VUE at a test center or online via OnVUE, and the certification is valid for three years. UiPath offers a free practice test and a 45-hour learning plan on UiPath Academy.

What is the UiPath Certified Professional Automation Developer Associate?
The UiPath Certified Professional Automation Developer Associate is the associate-level certification in UiPath’s automation developer track. UiPath Academy describes the certified developer as someone expected to independently design and develop simple automation solutions, or to work as a productive member of a larger automation team.
It is the newer version of the older RPA Associate certification. UiPath’s FAQ calls the Automation Developer Associate and Professional certifications new and refreshed versions of RPA Associate and Advanced RPA Developer, which UiPath retired on October 13, 2023.
The level above it is the Automation Developer Professional, an exam UiPath prices at US$300 per attempt.

Is the UiPath Automation Developer Associate certification still current?
Yes. UiPath lists it among its current role-based certifications, and nothing on UiPath’s certification pages marks it as retired or replaced. UiPath does recommend checking the latest exam description before you schedule, because exam content is kept up to date.
What has changed around it is the rest of the catalogue. UiPath now also offers the Agentic Automation Associate, and it announced an Agentic Automation Builder Professional certification launching on September 22, 2026. These are separate certifications, not new names for the developer associate.

How much does the UiPath Automation Developer Associate certification cost?
UiPath charges US$150 plus tax per attempt for an associate-level exam, and that applies to the Automation Developer Associate. Local taxes can raise the final amount.
Each retake is charged again, so budget per attempt. UiPath’s practice tests are free; the UiPath Academy pages checked for this guide do not state a price for the learning plan.

UiPath Automation Developer Associate exam format
UiPath says a candidate may receive several or all question types: multiple choice, drag and drop and simulation-based questions.
The exam is delivered by Pearson VUE, either at a Pearson VUE test center or as a remotely proctored exam at your own location via OnVUE. UiPath exams are offered in English and Japanese.
UiPath publishes the number of questions, the time limit and the topic list in its exam description document, linked from UiPath Academy. That document could not be retrieved for this page today, so we do not quote those figures; read the current version before you book.
The result is pass or fail. UiPath’s FAQ adds that your score report shows a percentage per section, and recommends focusing on sections below 70% before a retake.

Retakes and validity
If you do not pass on the first attempt, you must wait two weeks before retaking the exam. For the third and later attempts, you must wait at least one month between each retake, and every attempt is charged.
Since October 13, 2023, UiPath Certified Professional certifications are valid for three years from the date you earn them, and UiPath expects certified professionals to recertify every three years.

UiPath Automation Developer Associate training
UiPath Academy’s official preparation is the Automation Developer Associate Training learning plan, currently version 2024.10. It lists a completion time of 45 hours 20 minutes across 21 courses, including topics such as selectors in Studio and Orchestrator for automation developers.
The plan is aimed at tech-savvy beginners who do not necessarily have RPA experience, and UiPath recommends finishing the Automation Explorer learning plan first. The courses are built on Studio 2022.10 with 2024.10 updates, and UiPath recommends working in Studio 2024.10.
Training is not a formal requirement. UiPath’s FAQ says you can prepare through UiPath Academy or other training sources, and that some exams have mandatory prerequisites, so check the exam description for this one.

Free UiPath practice test
UiPath offers a free online practice test for the Automation Developer Associate, linked from UiPath Academy next to the exam description and the learning plan.
Use it as a check, not as a target. UiPath warns that, unlike the proctored exam, practice tests have static questions, and that repeating a practice test until you score high does not mean you will score high on the real exam.

Exam dumps and UiPath’s exam fraud rules
UiPath warns about websites selling fake exams at substantial prices and asks candidates not to spend money on or rely on such cheat sites. It also does not disclose correct answers after the exam, as a matter of security policy.
Seeking or sharing exam content counts as exam fraud under UiPath’s rules. Anyone engaging in it, whether willingly or not, is subject to corrective action, and UiPath may revoke any certifications earned and ban the person permanently or for set periods.

UiPath Automation Developer Associate vs UiPath Agentic Automation Associate certification
The UiPath Agentic Automation Associate certification validates foundational skills for collaborating with AI agents in process automation. UiPath describes it as suitable for both technical and non-technical roles, while the developer associate is aimed at people who build automations in Studio.
Their preparation differs too. UiPath Academy’s Agentic Automation Training lists about 20 hours and works in Studio Web through Automation Cloud; the developer associate training lists about 45 hours. Both exams are scheduled through Pearson VUE and both have a free practice test on UiPath Academy.
If your job is building and maintaining unattended or attended automations, the developer associate matches it more closely. If you mainly design processes in which AI agents take part, look at the agentic exam.
