What is the MB-310 certification?

MB-310 is the exam behind the Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate. Microsoft rates it Intermediate and aims it at functional consultants who analyse financial business requirements and turn them into business processes and solutions in Dynamics 365 Finance, during implementation and in ongoing support.

Microsoft’s audience profile expects a foundational understanding of accounting principles and financial operations, and specialisation in one or more Finance feature sets: general ledger, cash and bank management, tax, accounts receivable, credit and collections, subscription billing, accounts payable, expense management, budgeting, fixed assets and asset leasing, cost accounting, consolidation and elimination, and agents.

A single exam earns the certification; the certification page does not list a prerequisite certification. Microsoft’s skills outline was last updated on August 14, 2026, and the certification page shows no retirement notice.

How much does the MB-310 exam cost?

Microsoft does not print one price for MB-310. The certification page states that the price is based on the country or region in which the exam is proctored, and the binding figure is shown when you schedule the exam from that page.

Retakes are paid attempts as well, so plan the budget around the retake policy below rather than assuming a second try is included.

MB-310 exam format and passing score

You have 100 minutes. The exam is proctored, and Microsoft notes that it may include interactive components in addition to standard questions. Microsoft does not publish the number of MB-310 questions, so treat any fixed count you see quoted elsewhere with caution.

A score of 700 or greater is required to pass. The exam is offered in English and Japanese; Microsoft updates localised versions about eight weeks after the English one, and if the exam is not available in your preferred language you can request an additional 30 minutes.

Microsoft strongly recommends registering with a personal Microsoft account rather than a work or school account, because records tied to an organisational account are lost if you leave that organisation.

MB-310 skills measured

The MB-310 study guide lists five skill areas. Financial management is the centre of gravity at 35–40%: chart of accounts and financial dimensions, ledgers and currencies, journals, cash and bank, periodic and year-end processes including consolidation, and sales and withholding tax.

Accounts receivable at 15–20% includes credit and collections and subscription billing — billing schedules, revenue and expense deferrals and recognition. The other three areas carry 10–15% each.

MB-310 practice test: the free Microsoft practice assessment

Microsoft offers an official MB-310 practice test as a practice assessment on Microsoft Learn. Practice assessments are available at no cost and can be attempted as many times as you like. Microsoft describes them as an overview of the style, wording and difficulty of the questions you are likely to see on the exam.

Use it as a calibration step rather than a final exam: take it once early to find weak skill areas, study those against the skills outline, and take it again close to your exam date. Microsoft also provides an exam sandbox so you can try the exam interface before the real thing.

MB-310 study guide, training and courses

The authoritative scope is Microsoft’s Study guide for Exam MB-310. It lists every task under the five skill areas — for example configuring financial dimensions and account structures, posting layers, intercompany accounting, advanced bank reconciliation, customer and vendor netting, budget control rules, and fixed asset books and depreciation profiles.

For training, the certification page has a “Prepare for the exam” section that starts a self-paced Microsoft Learn course. Whatever course or training you use, check it against the current skills outline, because the outline changes and the August 14, 2026 version is the one being tested.

Hands-on time in a Dynamics 365 Finance environment matters more than reading for this exam. Most tasks in the outline start with “configure” or “process”, which describes doing the setup, not recognising its name.

MB-310 exam retake policy

If you do not pass the first time, you must wait 24 hours before retaking the exam. A 14-day waiting period applies between all subsequent attempts, and you may not take the same exam more than five times within 12 months of your first attempt.

How long is the MB-310 certification valid?

The Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate has a renewal frequency of 12 months. Microsoft role-based certifications expire unless renewed, and you renew at no cost by passing an online assessment on Microsoft Learn that covers the latest updates for the job role.

Because the renewal is free and online, the main risk is simply missing the window. Renew when Microsoft opens it rather than letting the certification lapse and having to sit MB-310 again.

MB-310 dumps and exam questions

Microsoft is explicit about MB-310 dumps and other brain dumps. Its exam security policy defines a brain dump as fraudulently obtained exam content shared or sold to other candidates, and states that using this material to prepare for or during an exam constitutes cheating. Brain dump providers are in violation of Microsoft’s intellectual property rights and candidate agreements.

The consequences are not theoretical: Microsoft says it bans candidates, revokes scores and credentials, and uses data forensics to detect improper activity.
