UiPath business analyst certification: exam, cost and training
The UiPath business analyst certification is officially the Automation Business Analyst Professional, a professional-level UiPath Certified Professional credential. The exam costs US$300 plus tax per attempt, is taken at a Pearson VUE test center or online via OnVUE, and the certification is valid for three years. UiPath recommends its Academy training plan and offers a free practice test.

What is the UiPath business analyst certification?
UiPath’s certification for business analysts is the Automation Business Analyst Professional, part of the UiPath Certified Professional program. UiPath says it validates advanced skills in requirements gathering, process discovery and process analysis, and in designing and implementing automation solutions with UiPath products.
It is aimed at the people who sit between the business and the developers: the analyst who finds a process worth automating, documents it, and turns it into requirements a development team can build from. UiPath recommends it for roles such as Automation Business Analyst, Project Manager and Solution Architect.
The credential used to be called simply Automation Business Analyst. UiPath’s FAQ states that it has been renamed to Automation Business Analyst Professional and that the exam was renamed accordingly; existing appointments and vouchers are not affected.

Who the UiPath Automation Business Analyst Professional cert is for
UiPath Academy describes the target candidate as a mid-career business analyst with a breadth of knowledge and industry experience in business process automation. This is not an entry-level credential: it assumes you already work on automation projects.
Candidates should preferably have completed the UiPath Academy courses listed as recommended training, and may optionally hold the associate-level developer certification. UiPath notes that some of its exams have mandatory prerequisites and asks candidates to read the exam description carefully; on its web pages, it lists no mandatory prerequisite for this one.

How much does the UiPath business analyst exam cost?
UiPath charges US$300 plus tax per attempt for a professional-level exam, which is the level of the Automation Business Analyst Professional. For comparison, an associate-level exam is US$150 plus tax.
The fee is per attempt: a retake is paid again. Vouchers can be bought in UiPath’s online store.

UiPath Automation Business Analyst Professional exam format
UiPath publishes the exam details — number of questions, time limit, passing score and topic weighting — in the Exam Description Document linked from UiPath Academy, not on its web pages. We could not retrieve that document, so those figures are not given here; read it before you book.
What UiPath states for its exams in general: question types include multiple choice, drag and drop and simulation-based items. Exams are delivered by Pearson VUE, either at a test center or online through OnVUE, and are in English and also available in Japanese.
Results are pass or fail. The score report shows section scores, and sections below 70% are flagged for review, which tells you where to focus if you need a second attempt.

What the exam covers
UiPath Academy states the exam assesses knowledge and skills in gathering requirements, process discovery and process analysis, together with designing and implementing automation solutions using UiPath products.
The recommended training plan shows what that means in practice. It is built around the UiPath Automation Implementation Methodology and covers three pillars of the platform:

UiPath business analyst certification training
The official preparation is UiPath Academy’s Automation Business Analyst Professional Training (v2024.10). UiPath says the plan offers thorough preparation for the certification, starts at beginner level and progresses to advanced, and is aimed at business analysts at all levels.
Academy lists a completion time of 36 hours 41 minutes, though the plan’s description and course list give different totals, so treat it as several days of study rather than a weekend.
UiPath also offers a free practice test. Its FAQ points out that practice tests have static questions, unlike the proctored exam, so a high practice score after repeated attempts says little about readiness.

Cheat sites and UiPath’s exam rules
UiPath asks candidates not to spend money on or rely on cheat sites. It counts seeking, obtaining or using material containing actual exam questions as exam fraud, and disclosing correct answers is against its security policy.
The consequences are set out in the FAQ: UiPath may revoke any and all certifications you have earned and ban you from future certification.

Retakes, validity and recertification
If you fail on the first attempt, you wait two weeks before trying again; after that, you wait one month between each attempt. Every attempt is paid.
Since October 13, 2023, all UiPath Certified Professional certifications are valid for three years from the date you earn them, and UiPath expects holders to recertify every three years.

Business Analyst Professional vs Automation Developer Associate
The two UiPath certifications target different people. Automation Developer Associate is an associate-level exam (US$150 plus tax) for building automations in UiPath. Automation Business Analyst Professional is professional-level (US$300 plus tax) and centres on discovery, analysis and requirements.
UiPath Academy lists the associate developer certification as optional background for business analysts, not as a requirement. If you analyse processes rather than build them, the business analyst credential is the closer fit.
