What is Network+?
CompTIA Network+ is the vendor-neutral networking certification: the one that says you can deploy wired and wireless networks, document them, monitor them, secure them and troubleshoot them, on any vendor’s equipment rather than one vendor’s.
The current exam is N10-009, exam version V9, which CompTIA launched on 20 June 2024. CompTIA maps it to NICE and DoD 8140 work roles including technical support specialist, network operations specialist and system administrator.

What is the Network+ exam format and passing score?
The passing score is 720 on a scale of 100 to 900 — CompTIA publishes it, which not every issuer does. The exam is a maximum of 90 questions in 90 minutes, mixing multiple choice with performance-based items. These performance-based questions, also called PBQs or simulation questions, are tasks that ask you to do something rather than pick something.
CompTIA names no requirements. The recommended starting point is CompTIA A+ plus 9 to 12 months of hands-on experience in a junior network administrator or network support technician role — recommended, not required, and nobody checks it at the test centre.
The exam is available in English, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. CompTIA states that exams usually retire about three years after launch and estimates 2027 for N10-009, so study material bought now should be written against V9.

How much does Network+ certification cost?
CompTIA does not put a figure on its certification page. CompTIA answers the price question, including what a voucher costs, in its store rather than on the page describing the exam.
What the store does show is that vouchers are sold on their own and inside bundles with CertMaster products and Retake Assurance, so what you pay depends on which of those you buy. A page quoting one flat Network Plus price is quoting something CompTIA has not published.

Where can you find Network+ practice questions?
This site holds 2,100 Network+ practice questions across the five exam objective areas. Every question shows all options, which one is correct, and why each of the others is wrong — on a scaled 100–900 score, the margin usually sits in the answers that looked plausible.
Practice questions are there so you meet CompTIA’s phrasing before exam day.
You can start with a free practice test here. What you will not find are Network+ dumps: recycled live exam content, sold as a shortcut and written against a leak rather than against CompTIA’s objectives. A cheat sheet has the same problem in a smaller format — it compresses what you should be able to reconstruct.
No practice percentage converts into a CompTIA score, because 720 sits on a scaled range rather than a share of questions answered. What practice can tell you is which objective area still puts you at risk — troubleshooting at 24% and networking concepts at 23% carry the most weight.
What Network+ study guide and books do you need?
CompTIA publishes the exam objectives and sells its own CertMaster products; everything else is third party. Any third-party study guide or book maps back to the same five objective areas and their weightings.
One thing to check before buying: the edition. N10-009 replaced the previous exam in June 2024 and CompTIA estimates retirement in 2027, so a guide written for the older series will cover objectives that are no longer on the paper. This site is not a course and not a study guide — it is the practice layer on top of whichever book you use.

CCNA vs Network+, and Security+ vs Network+
CCNA vs Network Plus crosses vendors. Cisco’s CCNA is Cisco-specific and goes deeper on Cisco configuration; CompTIA’s Network+ is vendor-neutral and covers the concepts across any equipment. Neither is a prerequisite for the other, and the two are often held together rather than chosen between.
Security Plus vs Network Plus is a sequencing question inside CompTIA. Network+ is the networking baseline, Security+ the security one, and CompTIA names Network+ as recommended experience for Security+ — recommended, again, not required. A+ sits below both as the entry point CompTIA recommends before Network+.

Is Network+ worth it?
CompTIA publishes no salary data and no pass rate on its certification page, so this page states neither.
What CompTIA does publish is the whole shape of the exam: a maximum of 90 questions in 90 minutes, a passing score of 720 out of 900, five objective areas with stated weightings, five languages, no requirements, and mapping to NICE and DoD 8140 work roles. Whether that is worth it depends on whether vendor-neutral networking is the ground you need to stand on.

Network+ exam objectives: what CompTIA calls the syllabus
CompTIA does not use the word syllabus. What other exams call a syllabus, CompTIA publishes as exam objectives: the list of everything that can appear on the paper, grouped into the five domains and weighted. The CompTIA Network Plus exam objectives for the current version are summarised in the objectives section of CompTIA’s certification page, which is also where CompTIA sends you to download them.
If you are looking for the N10-009 objectives specifically, check the code on the document before you study from it. Older objective files for retired series are still in circulation, and the N10-009 exam objectives differ from them in scope, not just in wording.
CompTIA lists what the current version added: wider coverage of modern network environments, more on physical installations, and topics such as SD-WAN, infrastructure as code, VxLAN, IDF and MDF, and zero-trust architecture with SASE/SSE. Those are the areas where an older study plan is most likely to have gaps.

How to use the Network Plus objectives as a study plan
The Network Plus objectives work best as a checklist rather than as reading material. Go through each objective and mark it as known, shaky or new; the shaky ones are where your time goes. The domain weights tell you how much each part counts: troubleshooting and networking concepts together make up almost half of the exam.
Treat the CompTIA Network Plus objectives as the boundary of the exam too. If a book, video or course spends a lot of time on something that is not in the objectives, it is teaching more than the exam asks — useful at work, but not what you are scored on.

Which is the latest Network Plus exam?
The latest Network Plus exam is N10-009, launched on 20 June 2024. CompTIA states that the English version of the previous exam, N10-008, retired in December 2024, so anyone sitting the Network Plus certification exam now takes N10-009. CompTIA’s certification page shows no successor version as of 9 October 2026; it estimates retirement for N10-009 in 2027, usually about three years after launch.
If you passed N10-008 before it retired, CompTIA states that your certification remains valid for three years from your exam date. Unused N10-008 vouchers can be used for N10-009.

Network Plus voucher: how buying the exam works
To sit the CompTIA Network Plus exam you need an exam voucher. CompTIA’s certification page shows no price; vouchers are sold in CompTIA’s store, on their own or in bundles with CertMaster training and Retake Assurance. So how much is the Network Plus exam? The answer is in the store for your country, because CompTIA states that vouchers are country and currency specific.
A few voucher rules affect the Network Plus certification cost in practice. Vouchers are valid until the date printed on them and that date cannot be extended. They cannot be returned, refunded or exchanged. They are exam series specific. And if you do not pass, you need another voucher for the next attempt — unless you bought a bundle that includes a retake.
CompTIA also states that vouchers and training materials are offered at considerable discounts for students.
- Buy the voucher for the exam series you will sit: N10-009.
- Book before the expiry date on the voucher; an exam retirement date overrides it.
- Check whether your bundle includes Retake Assurance before you assume a second attempt is covered.

Network Plus certification jobs and salary
CompTIA names the jobs the CompTIA Network Plus certification is aimed at. For N10-009 it lists junior network administrator, NOC technician, network support specialist and systems administrator as primary roles, and data center support technician, telecommunications technician, IT support manager and Tier II support technician as secondary roles. On the certification page it maps Network+ to NICE and DoD 8140 work roles such as technical support specialist, network operations specialist and system administrator.
A Network Plus salary figure is a different matter. CompTIA publishes no Network Plus certification salary on its certification page, so this page does not quote one. A CompTIA Network Plus salary depends on the job, the employer and the region, not on the certificate alone — the certificate is what gets you considered for the roles above.

Network Plus training: do you need a course?
No training is required to book the exam. CompTIA’s own Network+ training is its CertMaster range: CertMaster Learn, a self-paced eLearning course with videos, assessments, performance-based questions and simulated labs; CertMaster Labs, browser-based hands-on labs; CertMaster Practice, an adaptive assessment tool; and CertMaster Perform, which combines live and simulated labs and starts with a diagnostic.
Whichever course you choose, check it against the N10-009 objectives and make sure it includes hands-on work, because the exam includes performance-based questions.

A Network Plus exam cram: what the last days should look like
A Network Plus exam cram — a short, intense review just before the test — works for refreshing what you already know, not for learning new material. Use the final days to go back to the objectives you marked as shaky, rework the performance-based tasks you got wrong, and take one timed run under real conditions: up to 90 questions in 90 minutes.
Keep the scope honest. A few days is enough for an exam cram; Network Plus content you have never studied needs more than that, and if your practice shows a whole domain is still weak, cramming will not fix it. Moving the exam date is usually cheaper than a failed attempt, as long as you stay within your voucher’s expiry date.

Keeping your Network+ certification: renewal
A CompTIA Network certification is valid for three years. To renew Network+ V9, CompTIA requires 30 continuing education units, earned through activities such as CertMaster CE, other IT certifications or preapproved training.
The other route is a higher-level CompTIA certification. Security+, CySA+, PenTest+ and SecurityX each fully renew Network+, and so does Cloud+ V3. When that happens, CompTIA waives the CE fee for Network+ and aligns its expiry date with the higher certification.
