What is the Google Cloud Generative AI Leader certification?
Generative AI Leader is the certification Google Cloud aimed at the people who decide what to build with generative AI rather than the people who wire it up. Google’s exam guide describes the certified person as a visionary professional with comprehensive knowledge of how gen AI can transform and be used within a business.
The shorter name Google Gen AI Leader refers to the same exam.
Google sets no prerequisites, and the exam is multiple choice throughout — there is no hands-on component. If you are a practitioner looking for the engineering credential, this is not it: this is the one you take to speak credibly about gen AI in a room where the budget is decided.

Generative AI Leader exam topics and weighting
The Generative AI Leader exam covers four sections, and Google’s exam guide gives each an approximate share. That list is the full set of exam topics: there is no other official outline.
Read the weights before you plan. Google Cloud’s own gen-AI offerings carry about 35 per cent, the largest share — this is a Google Cloud exam, not a general AI quiz. The fundamentals carry about 30, techniques to improve model output about 20, and business strategy about 15.
- Fundamentals of gen AI — ~30%: core concepts and use cases, data types, the layers of the gen-AI landscape, Google’s foundation models
- Google Cloud’s gen AI offerings — ~35%: Google Cloud’s strengths, prebuilt offerings for AI-powered work, customer experience, building with AI, tooling for gen-AI agents
- Techniques to improve gen AI model output — ~20%: overcoming foundation-model limitations, prompt engineering, grounding
- Business strategies for a successful gen AI solution — ~15%: Google Cloud’s recommended implementation steps, secure AI, responsible AI

Google Cloud Generative AI Leader certification exam: format and cost
Google states 50 to 60 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, delivered either online-proctored or at a test centre. The fee is $99 plus tax where applicable, which puts it well below Google’s associate and professional exams.
The certification is valid for three years, and Google lets you renew within its renewal eligibility period. The exam is offered in English, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese, and registration runs through Google Cloud’s certification page.
What Google does not publish is a passing score — neither the certification page nor the exam guide states one. So a practice percentage cannot be compared to a line; there is no published line to compare it to.

Generative AI Leader practice questions and practice test
This site holds 700 Generative AI Leader practice questions, split across the four sections in the same proportions as Google’s exam guide: 210 on fundamentals, 245 on Google Cloud’s offerings, 140 on techniques and 105 on business strategy. Every question shows all options, which one is correct, and why each of the others is wrong.
Practice questions are there so you meet Google’s phrasing before exam day.
You can start free: the first 20 questions here need no signup. Google also publishes its own free sample questions; Google says they do not represent the full range of topics or difficulty of the exam and should not be used to predict your result. Use both.
What you will not find here are Generative AI Leader dumps. Whether sold as a PDF or as “actual exam questions”, they mean recycled live exam content. These questions are written against Google’s published exam guide instead.

Is the Generative AI Leader certification worth it?
Google publishes no salary data and no pass rate, so this page states neither.
What Google does publish is the whole frame: 50 to 60 questions, 90 minutes, $99, no prerequisites, three years of validity and four weighted sections, two of which — business strategy and Google Cloud’s offerings — are about judgement and positioning rather than implementation. Whether that is worth one exam fee depends on whether you need gen-AI fluency on paper.

Official Generative AI Leader training
Google’s recommended training for this exam is the Generative AI Leader learning path, together with the Generative AI Leader Study Guide published as a PDF. Partners get a separate partner training path for the same exam.
The learning path covers the content; the study guide and the exam guide tell you how the four sections are weighted. Use them together, and add practice questions once you have been through the learning path, to find the sections where your answers are still guesswork.

Is there a Generative AI Leader professional certificate?
Searches for a Generative AI Leader professional certificate usually mix up two kinds of credential. A professional certificate is generally a training credential you earn by completing a course series. The GCP Generative AI Leader certification is a proctored exam: 50 to 60 questions in 90 minutes, valid for three years.
Google’s certification page lists a learning path and a study guide as preparation — it does not list a professional certificate. If you want the credential Google Cloud verifies, it is the exam.
