What is the exam format?
One hour. HashiCorp names two prerequisites — basic terminal skills, and an understanding of on-premises and cloud architecture — and publishes no passing score and no question count, so any fixed figure for either comes from somewhere other than HashiCorp.
The current exam is Terraform Associate (004), and HashiCorp states the product version tested as Terraform 1.12. The practice questions on this site are currently written against the 003 objectives, which is worth knowing before you plan an exam date.

What Terraform Associate study guide do you need?
HashiCorp publishes the exam objectives and a study guide for the Terraform Associate certification, and they define scope. Start with HashiCorp’s own guide, and for any other guide check which exam version it covers, 003 or 004.
What you will not find here are Terraform Associate certification dumps: recycled live exam content, written against whichever version leaked. These questions follow the published objectives instead.

Moving from 003 to 004
HashiCorp publishes a comparison of the content differences between 003 and 004. Use it if you studied with 003-era material — including the practice questions on this site, which are currently written against the 003 objectives — so you can close the gaps the newer version adds. HashiCorp’s 004 certification tutorial is the official study guide for the current version.

Renewing your Terraform Associate credential
Credentials expire after two years. If you hold an unexpired 004 credential, you can extend it by passing the Terraform Infrastructure Engineer Professional exam or an AWS or Azure Advanced exam, or by retaking the 004 Associate exam from six months before expiry.
If you hold an unexpired 002 or 003 credential, the Professional and Advanced exams also extend it; retaking the 004 Associate exam instead earns a new, separate credential and leaves your original expiry date unchanged. Once a certification has expired, you simply pass the current Associate exam for new credentials.
