What is the MuleSoft Certified Integration Associate certification?
The MuleSoft Certified Integration Associate is MuleSoft’s entry-level credential. Salesforce now issues it as Salesforce Certified MuleSoft Integration Foundations and describes it as designed for people who know core integration and API-led connectivity terminology and can work as an informed member of a MuleSoft project team.
That makes it a credential for the whole project team, not only for developers. Salesforce lists the typical roles as developers, architects, project managers, technical project managers, integration product owners, IT professionals and IT operations.

Integration Associate is now MuleSoft Integration Foundations
You will not find an exam called “MuleSoft Certified Integration Associate” in the Salesforce catalogue any more. The former MuleSoft certification page for the associate exam now redirects to the Trailhead credential “Salesforce Certified MuleSoft Integration Foundations”, and the Trailhead credential address still ends in “mulesoftassociate”.
Salesforce has not published a date for this rename on the pages checked for this article; its 2026 name-change FAQ covers sixteen other certifications and no MuleSoft credential. What matters for candidates: you register for Integration Foundations, and the Salesforce exam guide for that exam is the authoritative description of what you will be tested on.
The credential is not being retired. Salesforce will retire 24 certifications on 1 February 2027, including two other MuleSoft credentials, but Integration Foundations is not marked as retiring in the Salesforce Certification Overview.

How much does the MuleSoft Integration Associate exam cost?
The registration fee is US$75 (JPY 10,000) plus applicable taxes. Retakes are free, according to the exam guide — the other Salesforce exam guides checked for this article, including MuleSoft Developer, charge a retake fee.
For comparison, the next MuleSoft step, the Salesforce Certified MuleSoft Developer exam, costs US$200. The low fee is part of why the associate exam works as a first credential for non-developers on an integration team.

MuleSoft Integration Associate exam format
The exam has 40 multiple-choice questions plus up to five unscored questions, and you get 70 minutes in total. The unscored questions are not identified, so answer every question as if it counted.
It is a proctored exam, taken at a testing center or online. No hard-copy or online materials may be referenced during the exam. The questions align to the Spring ’24 release.

MuleSoft Integration Associate passing score
The passing score is 70%. With 40 scored questions, that means you need 28 correct answers to pass.
Because each domain is between 10% and 20% of the exam, there is no single area large enough to carry you; a weak spot in two domains can be enough to drop below 28.

What is on the MuleSoft Integration Associate exam?
The exam guide lists six sections. Integration concepts and terminology is the largest at 20%. The four sections on project roles, common problems, technical complexities and Anypoint Platform for system integration sit between 17% and 18% each, and Anypoint Platform for API management carries 10%.
Read the verbs in the outline: identify, recognise, explain, describe. The outline has no section on building Mule applications; it tests understanding of integration projects and Anypoint Platform.
- Identify the roles, responsibilities, and lifecycle of an integration project — 17%
- Recognize and interpret essential integration concepts and terminology — 20%
- Recognize common integration problems, use cases, and technical solutions — 17%
- Explain the common technical complexities and patterns in integration development — 18%
- Describe the components and benefits of Anypoint Platform for system integration — 18%
- Describe the components and benefits of Anypoint Platform for API management — 10%

MuleSoft Certified Integration Associate exam questions: what to expect
MuleSoft Certified Integration Associate exam questions are multiple choice. Based on the outline, expect questions that ask which role owns a decision in an integration project, which integration pattern fits a described problem, why a technical complexity arises, or which Anypoint Platform component solves a given need in system integration or API management.
Salesforce recommends a mix of hands-on experience, training courses, Trailhead trails and self-study, and points to the Trailmix “Prepare for Your Salesforce MuleSoft Integration Foundations Certification” as the official study path.

Prerequisites and maintenance
There is no prerequisite for the exam. You do not need another Salesforce or MuleSoft certification first.
Salesforce states that there is currently no required maintenance for this certification, so unlike most Salesforce credentials you do not need to complete an annual Trailhead maintenance badge to keep it. Check the exam guide occasionally, because “at this time” leaves room for that to change.

MuleSoft Integration Associate vs MuleSoft Developer
The associate exam is conceptual: 40 questions, 70 minutes, US$75. The Salesforce Certified MuleSoft Developer exam is aimed at people who build Mule applications: 60 multiple-choice questions, 120 minutes, US$200, also with a 70% passing score.
If you design, manage or own integrations without writing Mule code, the associate credential fits. If you build Mule applications, the developer exam is the one that tests your daily work.

Exam dumps and practice tests
Salesforce’s programme agreement prohibits sharing, using or selling exam content in any format, including content you memorise or find online. Salesforce has stated explicitly that using unofficial dumps violates its Code of Conduct and that such material can be inaccurate and outdated.
Consequences listed in the agreement include suspension from all certification exams for 90 days or more and revocation of earned certifications. Practice questions written against the official outline are the safe route.
