What is the NCA-GENL certification?
NCA-GENL is the exam code for NVIDIA’s Generative AI LLMs certification at associate level. NVIDIA calls it an entry-level credential that validates the foundational concepts for developing, integrating and maintaining AI-driven applications using generative AI and large language models with NVIDIA solutions.
NVIDIA frames the target role as the generative AI LLM associate developer, someone who contributes to the development of LLM-based applications. NVIDIA shows no retirement or beta notice on the certification page; as of 10 October 2026 it is an active, bookable exam.

How much does the NCA-GENL exam cost?
The NCA-GENL exam costs $125. That covers one attempt.
If you do not pass, NVIDIA’s FAQ says you can purchase the exam again: there is a 14-day waiting period before a retake, and you may not take any given exam more than five times in 12 months. Budget for a possible second attempt rather than assuming the first one is the only cost.

NCA-GENL exam format
The exam consists of 50–60 multiple-choice questions with a one-hour time limit, and it is offered in English. To access it, NVIDIA asks you to create a Certiverse account.
If you take the exam online remotely, you need to install a secure browser on your computer, and a proctor monitors the session. NVIDIA states that breaks aren’t allowed for remotely proctored exams, so with one hour for up to 60 questions, plan to sit straight through at roughly a minute per question.
For most exams, NVIDIA shows your result on screen at the end and sends it by email; the email can take up to 24 hours.

NCA-GENL passing score
NVIDIA does not publish a passing score for NCA-GENL. Its FAQ is explicit: NVIDIA certification exams are pass/fail, and you won’t receive a score.
That means there is no target percentage to aim for and no score report showing how close you came. The topic weights below are the best guide to where your preparation time pays off.

What is on the NCA-GENL exam?
NVIDIA publishes five topic areas with exam weights. Core machine learning and AI knowledge is the largest block at 30%, followed by software development at 24% and experimentation at 22%. Together those three make up more than three quarters of the exam.
Data analysis and trustworthy AI are smaller, but 24% combined is still too much to skip. Trustworthy AI in particular is easy to underestimate if your background is purely technical.
- Core Machine Learning and AI Knowledge — 30%
- Software Development — 24%
- Experimentation — 22%
- Data Analysis — 14%
- Trustworthy AI — 10%

NCA-GENL prerequisites
NVIDIA lists one prerequisite: a basic understanding of generative AI and large language models. There is no required course, no experience requirement and no other certification you must hold first.
In practice, “basic understanding” covers a lot of ground given the topic list: machine learning fundamentals, how LLMs are trained and evaluated, writing and integrating code around them, working with data, and responsible use. If any of those five areas is new to you, start there.

NCA-GENL course and training options
NVIDIA recommends two training resources for the exam: the Fundamentals of Deep Learning open-source course materials and the course Rapid Application Development With Large Language Models (LLMs). The certification page also lists a reading list in its exam preparation section.
Neither course is mandatory. Use them where your gaps are: Fundamentals of Deep Learning for the core machine learning block, and the LLM application course for software development and experimentation.

How long is the NCA-GENL certification valid?
The NCA-GENL certification is valid for two years from issuance. NVIDIA states that recertification may be achieved by retaking the exam; its FAQ adds that after two years you must retake the exam to be recertified.
There is no credit or continuing-education route: renewal means passing the current version of the exam again.

NCA-GENL vs NCA-GENM
NVIDIA has a sibling associate exam, NCA-GENM, the Generative AI Multimodal certification. It also takes one hour and costs $125, but NVIDIA describes it as validating the foundational skills needed to design, implement and manage AI systems that synthesise and interpret data across text, image and audio.
If your work is centred on language models, NCA-GENL is the closer fit. If you work with images, audio and text together, NCA-GENM matches that scope better.

NCA-GENL dumps and practice questions
NCA-GENL dumps are not a reliable way to prepare. NVIDIA reserves the right to cancel a passed exam result, revoke existing NVIDIA certificates and badges, and permanently bar a candidate from the certification programme if it believes the results do not accurately reflect true knowledge of the subject, and it reviews response patterns for signs of misconduct.
Certsqill NCA-GENL practice questions come with an explanation for every option and a readiness score per domain, weighted like NVIDIA’s five topic areas.
