What is the PSPO certification?
PSPO stands for Professional Scrum Product Owner, a certification track from Scrum.org. The first level, PSPO I, is what most people mean by “PSPO certification” or “PSPO 1 certification”. Scrum.org says it validates your knowledge of the Scrum framework and your ability to support and enable value creation and delivery.
The Scrum.org PSPO certification is earned by passing a test, not by attending a class. Many of the questions focus on the Product Owner accountabilities described in the Scrum Guide, and some ask you to apply Scrum based on experience. A professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) certification holder gets a free Credly digital credential, and Scrum.org lets anyone search its list of certification holders to verify a credential.
Above PSPO I sit PSPO II, which Scrum.org calls evidence of an advanced level of Product Ownership knowledge, and PSPO III, for a distinguished level. The PSPO I certification is the foundation for both.

PSPO certification cost
Scrum.org charges US$200 per attempt for the PSPO I test. You receive a password that has no expiry date but is valid for one attempt only, so a second try means buying another password. There is no annual renewal fee afterwards.
The other route to the test is through training. Scrum.org’s Professional Scrum Product Owner course includes a free attempt at PSPO I, and if you take the test within 14 days of receiving the password and score below 85%, you get a second attempt at no extra cost. Scrum.org does not publish a course price on the course page; it depends on the class and trainer you choose.
- Test only: US$200 per attempt
- Via a Scrum.org PSPO class: one attempt included, plus a free second attempt under the 14-day rule
- Renewal: none — lifetime certification

PSPO I exam format and passing score
The PSPO I test has 80 questions and a 60-minute time limit, which leaves 45 seconds per question. Question types are multiple choice, multiple answer and true/false. It is available in English and Japanese, and in Simplified Chinese through scrum.org.cn.
The passing score is 85%: with 80 questions, that means at least 68 correct answers. That is a high bar for a short exam, and it leaves little room for guessing — multiple-answer questions in particular need every correct option.

What is on the PSPO I test?
Scrum.org lists three focus areas for PSPO I but publishes no weights for them. Managing products with agility has the longest list of topics, and it is the part most specific to the Product Owner role.
- Understanding and Applying the Scrum Framework — empiricism, the Scrum Team, events, artifacts, Done
- Developing People and Teams — self-managing teams
- Managing Products with Agility — forecasting and release planning, product vision, product value, Product Backlog management, business strategy, stakeholders and customers

Do you need a course? PSPO certification training
No. Scrum.org says attendance is not a prerequisite, but a course is strongly recommended, and you can take the test without attending a class.
Scrum.org’s own PSPO certification training is the Professional Scrum Product Owner course, taught by Professional Scrum Trainers using the same materials whoever teaches it. In person it is generally delivered over two consecutive days; virtual classes may be split into more, shorter days, and private classes are available for teams. Attending a two-day course earns 14 PMI PDUs, and passing PSPO I afterwards brings a 40% discount on the PSPO II test.

PSPO practice tests and exam prep
Scrum.org offers free Open Assessments for practice, including the Product Owner Open and the Scrum Open. They carry no fee and no certification, and Scrum.org notes that their questions are not as difficult as the certification test.
For exam prep, that means the Open Assessments are a starting point, not proof that you are ready. Read the Scrum Guide closely, since many questions are based on it, and aim well above 85% in practice so a few difficult questions on the day do not push you below the line.

PSPO dumps and the Scrum.org standard of conduct
Every PSPO test taker agrees to Scrum.org’s Standard of Conduct for Assessments. It states that you have not received any of the answers to the questions in advance and that you will not share any assessment materials, including your answers, with anyone.
Breaking those rules may lead to your Scrum.org certifications being revoked and your account being disabled. A PSPO dump of supposed real questions is therefore a risk to the certification itself, not a shortcut to it.

PSPO certification salary
Scrum.org does not publish a PSPO certification salary figure, so no salary number is given here. What the certification does provide is a verifiable credential: Scrum.org lists holders publicly and issues a Credly badge, so an employer can check it in seconds.

PSPO I practice questions
Certsqill’s PSPO I practice questions are expert-developed: every question explains each answer option, and a readiness score for each focus area helps when the pass mark is 85% and there is little margin for a weak area.
