What is PSPO III?
PSPO III, Professional Scrum Product Owner III, is the third and highest level of Scrum.org’s Product Owner certifications. Scrum.org calls PSPO I fundamental and PSPO II advanced; PSPO III is evidence of a distinguished level of understanding of how to own a vision, manage a Product Backlog and engage with stakeholders and customers to deliver valuable products using Scrum.
Scrum.org rates the difficulty as expert. Holders, in Scrum.org’s words, have a deep understanding of the application and accountabilities of the Product Owner and the ability to be effective in a variety of team and organisational situations.

How much does the PSPO III exam cost?
The PSPO III exam costs US$500 per attempt. You buy a password, and Scrum.org states that passwords have no expiration date but are valid for one attempt only — so a second attempt means a second US$500.
No course substitutes for the exam: Scrum.org says attending a course is neither required nor sufficient for this certification, so budget for the attempt itself.

PSPO III exam format
The exam consists of 24 essay questions with a time limit of 150 minutes, which leaves just over six minutes per answer. All responses must be typed; pasting prepared responses is not allowed. Questions and answers are in English.
Scrum.org says you will be asked to describe how you would respond to different scenarios while remaining true to Scrum. That requires both knowing the Scrum Guide and applying your own Product Ownership experience — a recalled definition is not an answer.
One detail matters for every answer: Scrum.org states that using outdated terminology from earlier versions of the Scrum Guide counts against you. Write in the language of the current guide.

How is the PSPO III exam graded?
Scoring is pass/did not pass. Scrum.org publishes no percentage or marking scheme for the essays.
Grading takes approximately four weeks, and you receive a free Credly digital credential with the certification. Plan for that delay if you need the result by a particular date.

What is on the PSPO III exam?
Scrum.org lists four competency areas. Managing Products with Agility has the longest list of topics, but the exam also reaches into team development and how the organisation as a whole works with products.
Use the topic list as a checklist for your own experience. Because the questions ask how you would respond to scenarios, you should be able to write, for each topic, what you would do as a Product Owner and why that stays true to Scrum.
- Understanding and Applying the Scrum Framework — empiricism, Scrum Values, Scrum Team, events, artifacts, Done
- Developing People and Teams — self-managing teams, facilitation
- Managing Products with Agility — forecasting and release planning, product vision, product value, Product Backlog management, business strategy, stakeholders and customers
- Evolving the Agile Organization — portfolio planning, Evidence-Based Management

PSPO III prerequisites
Scrum.org does not require PSPO I or PSPO II before PSPO III, but it strongly recommends both. It adds a blunt benchmark: anyone scoring below 90% on PSPO I and PSPO II will find earning PSPO III very difficult.
For reference, PSPO I costs US$200 per attempt and has 80 questions in 60 minutes, with an 85% passing score. Reaching 90% or more on both PSPO I and PSPO II is the practical benchmark Scrum.org sets before the essays.
Courses are optional too. Scrum.org recommends its Professional Scrum Product Owner and Professional Scrum Product Owner – Advanced classes, while stating that attending a course is neither required nor sufficient.

PSPO II vs PSPO III
PSPO II costs US$250 per attempt and has 40 multiple-choice and multiple-answer questions in 60 minutes, with partial credit on some questions and an 85% passing score. PSPO III costs US$500, replaces the choices with 24 typed essays, gives you 150 minutes and is graded pass/did not pass.
The history explains a common confusion. Before November 2019, Scrum.org’s PSPO II was itself an expert-level, largely essay-based assessment. When Scrum.org introduced the new multiple-choice PSPO II in November 2019, everyone who had passed the old PSPO II before 18 November 2019 was awarded PSPO III in its place.

Does PSPO III expire?
No. Scrum.org lists PSPO III as a lifetime certification with no annual renewal fee, the same model as PSPO I and PSPO II.

PSPO III exam rules and dumps
Scrum.org’s Standard of Conduct for Assessments requires that you do not share any assessment materials, including your answers, and that you have not received any answers in advance. Failure to meet these standards may result in your Scrum.org certifications being revoked and your account being disabled.
For an essay exam a dump is doubly useless: answers must be typed live, pasting is blocked, and a memorised text cannot respond to the scenario in front of you. What passes is your own reasoning, in current Scrum Guide terms.

PSPO III practice questions
The real exam is essays, so no multiple-choice set can replicate it. Certsqill’s PSPO III practice questions are expert-developed scenario questions across Scrum.org’s four competency areas, built to test the judgement your essays have to show.
Each question comes with an explanation for every answer option — useful practice for arguing why one response is true to Scrum and another is not. Your results build a readiness score per domain, and a 7-day money-back guarantee applies.
