SAP SD certification today: the S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Sales exam
SAP’s certification pages do not use the name “SD”. Its current sales consultant certification for the cloud ERP is SAP Certified – Implementation Consultant – SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, Sales (C_S4CS): a three-hour, practical System Based Assessment, open book, with a 75% pass score, in English. You take it with an SAP Learning Hub subscription that includes exam attempts.

Is there still an SAP SD certification?
SD — Sales and Distribution — is the long-standing name of SAP’s sales module, and it is still how many people search for a sales certification. SAP’s own certification pages do not use it. Neither of SAP’s current S/4HANA sales consultant certifications mentions “SD” or “Sales and Distribution”; both are simply called Sales.
For the cloud ERP, the certification is SAP Certified – Implementation Consultant – SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, Sales, exam code C_S4CS. For the private edition there is a separate certification, C_TS462, covered further down. If you are looking for the SAP SD certification as it exists today, one of these two is what you will book.

What is the C_S4CS certification?
SAP describes the target candidate as someone with fundamental knowledge of core implementation tasks and of Sales, who takes part in an implementation project team in a mentored role. It is an implementation consultant credential: it tests whether you can set up and run sales processes in the system, not whether you can use the system as an end user.
The skill areas SAP lists are consultant tasks, organizational structure, sales and the sales process, order management, contract management and system configuration. SAP does not publish weights for them.

Exam format: a practical System Based Assessment
C_S4CS is not a multiple-choice test. It consists of one activity, a System Based Assessment, in which you demonstrate your skills by configuring the system and building processes. It lasts three hours, the pass score is 75%, and it is available in English.
SAP calls these practical exams performance-based and open book: you may use AI support and documentation while you work, and they are taken without a proctor. Until 29 October 2026, the assessment also includes a free beta of SAP Joule for Consultants as an additional open-book resource.
SAP does not publish the number of tasks in the assessment. Score reports for System Based Assessment certifications are available in SAP Learning under My Learnings, My Certifications.

What you need to take the exam
SAP lists no formal prerequisites such as a prior certification. To take C_S4CS you need an SAP Learning Hub subscription that includes SAP Certification exam attempts, and a valid SAP Universal ID with a secondary email address.
SAP prices the Learning Hub at USD 1,452 per user per year, including four certification exam attempts a year to get and stay certified. SAP also sells one or six exam attempts without a subscription, but does not show the price on that page.

SAP sales training and exam prep
SAP’s recommended training for this certification is the learning journey Implementing Sales in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition on SAP Learning. It is the official route for exam prep, and it is where SAP points candidates before the assessment.
Because the exam is practical and open book, preparation is about doing rather than memorising. Work through the configuration and process steps in the learning journey until you can complete them without hesitation: three hours is generous only if you already know where things are.
Use the skill list as a checklist — organizational structure, the sales process, order management, contract management and configuration. A gap in any of them shows up immediately when a task asks you to build it.

How long is the certification valid?
SAP states that the digital badge for a practical exam remains valid for 12 months. With an SAP Learning Hub subscription, you can extend validity by 12 months at a time by completing a short annual assessment; the new expiry date is set 12 months after the original one.
Without a subscription, SAP says you need to take the full practical exam again to stay certified.

Public edition vs private edition: C_S4CS vs C_TS462
SAP runs two S/4HANA sales consultant certifications. C_S4CS covers S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition; C_TS462, SAP Certified – Implementation Consultant for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, Sales, covers the private edition.
Both are three-hour System Based Assessments in English, but the bar differs: C_TS462 has an 82% pass score against 75% for C_S4CS. Each has its own learning journey. Choose the one that matches the edition you implement or plan to work with.

Dumps and exam security
SAP’s certification exam security guidelines name brain dumps explicitly. Every exam-taker signs a candidate agreement, and distributing test questions breaches the non-disclosure agreement.
SAP can withhold certification status, delete exam results and ban candidates from further SAP certification exams. On a practical exam, a dump would not help anyway: you have to configure the system yourself.
