SAP MM certification: SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, Sourcing and Procurement

Is there an SAP MM certification?

Not under that name. SAP Learning lists no current exam titled SAP MM. In SAP S/4HANA, the purchasing and materials management topics that people still call MM are covered by the Sourcing and Procurement certifications — SAP’s own course Cross-Functional Customizing in SAP S/4HANA Materials Management sits in the learning journey for the private edition Sourcing and Procurement certification.

So the answer to “which SAP MM certification should I take” depends on the system you work with. For SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, it is C_S4CPR, the certification this page covers. For SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition and on-premise SAP S/4HANA, SAP points to C_TS452.

What is the C_S4CPR certification?

C_S4CPR is SAP Certified - Implementation Consultant - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, Sourcing and Procurement. SAP says it verifies that you have the fundamental knowledge to explain and execute core implementation and project tasks to deploy, adopt and extend SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition in sourcing and procurement.

SAP aims it at candidates who work in a mentored role on an implementation team with a sourcing and procurement focus. The skills SAP associates with it include purchasing, procurement, data migration and system configuration.

C_S4CPR exam format: a system-based assessment

C_S4CPR is not a multiple-choice question exam. SAP lists it as one activity, a system-based assessment: practical tasks that mimic real-world scenarios, completed in a live SAP system. SAP introduced this practical, open-book exam format in November 2025 and planned to move all certifications to it by Q2 2026.

You get 3 hours, and the timer starts when you launch the exam. Breaks do not pause it, and the assessment has to be finished in one session. The dashboard lists the tasks to complete together with a setup guide; SAP does not publish how many tasks there are.

You need 70% to pass. After you confirm completion, results go into review, which SAP says usually takes about 15 minutes, and a score report is available. The exam is in English.

How much does the SAP S/4HANA Sourcing and Procurement certification cost?

SAP’s US training shop lists CER001, SAP Certification Exam, One Attempt, at US$236 plus tax. It gives 12 months of access to the Certification Hub and one exam attempt, used whether you pass or fail.

SAP also sells a two-attempt package that includes 10 hours of hands-on practice system access, and the SAP Learning Hub subscription includes four certification exam attempts along with practice systems and live sessions. SAP does not print a price for those two on the help page; it points to SAP Store or your SAP representative. Each exam you take counts as one attempt from your subscription.

SAP S/4HANA Sourcing and Procurement training

SAP’s recommended preparation for C_S4CPR is the learning journey Implementing SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, Sourcing and Procurement on SAP Learning. It has two parts: implementation project work — building the team, configuring processes with SAP Central Business Configuration, data migration and automated testing — and the procurement processes themselves: requisitioning, purchasing, sourcing and contract management.

SAP lists Getting Started with Support from SAP (Support Accreditation) as a prerequisite for the learning journey, and the certification page points to a practice system inside the learning journey so you can work in the same kind of environment as the exam.

Because the exam is hands-on, use that practice system. Reading about purchase orders, sourcing rules and contracts is not the same as configuring and running them under a timer.

SAP MM certification training and course options

If your background is classic SAP MM, the official route on SAP Learning depends on the edition. For private edition and on-premise, the learning journey Implementing SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, Sourcing and Procurement includes the course Cross-Functional Customizing in SAP S/4HANA Materials Management, with units on organisational units, master data, valuation and account assignment, purchasing and inventory management.

For public edition, SAP’s learning journey teaches process configuration with SAP Central Business Configuration, so plan time on the public edition learning journey even if you know MM well.

Prerequisites for the C_S4CPR exam

SAP lists no formal prerequisites for the certification itself. What you need is practical: a subscription or purchase that includes SAP certification exam attempts, an SAP Universal ID with a secondary email address, and a computer that passes SAP’s technical readiness checklist for the exam environment.

In practice the exam assumes implementation experience at the level of a mentored consultant. If you have only used procurement as an end user, the configuration and project tasks are where to focus.

How do you stay certified?

SAP states that the simplest path to staying certified is an SAP Learning Hub subscription, which includes yearly assessments and preparation content. The assessments must be completed before your certification expiry date. Without a Learning Hub subscription, SAP says you will need to retake the certification exam every year.

For this certification SAP offers SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition: Stay Certified for Sourcing and Procurement, a course of about two and a half hours that prepares you for the stay-certified assessment.

C_S4CPR vs C_TS452

Both certifications cover sourcing and procurement in SAP S/4HANA and both are 3-hour system-based assessments in English. C_S4CPR is for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and needs 70%. C_TS452, SAP Certified - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, Sourcing and Procurement, is relevant for private edition and on-premise and needs 76%.

Pick the one that matches the systems you implement. SAP places its Materials Management customizing course in the C_TS452 learning journey, while the public edition journey teaches configuration through SAP Central Business Configuration.

Exam dumps and SAP exam security

SAP’s exam security guidelines name cheating through brain dumps that give access to exam questions, and companies selling exam questions to test-takers. Distributing exam questions also breaks the non-disclosure agreement every candidate signs.

SAP reserves the right to withhold certification status from anyone found cheating or disclosing exam questions, can delete exam results, and can ban candidates from further SAP certification exams. With a practical exam in a live system, there is also little a question list could do for you.

How to pass the C_S4CPR exam

Prep for a system-based exam is mostly hands-on. Work through the public edition learning journey, then repeat the core procurement processes in the practice system until you can complete them without notes: requisitioning, purchasing, sourcing and contract management, plus the configuration steps around them.

Manage the clock. The 3-hour timer cannot be paused, so read each task fully before you start configuring, and leave time to check your results before you confirm completion.
