CIS-Discovery, listed by ServiceNow as CIS-DISCO, is the Certified Implementation Specialist exam for ServiceNow Discovery. It is a proctored exam that confirms you can configure, implement and maintain the Discovery application: design and troubleshoot patterns, manage Discovery schedules, maintain the CMDB and ensure operational readiness. What is the ServiceNow CIS-Discovery certification?
CIS-Discovery is one of ServiceNow’s Certified Implementation Specialist credentials. ServiceNow lists it as the Certified Implementation Specialist – Discovery, abbreviated CIS-DISCO, and states that the exam confirms you have the knowledge and skills to configure, implement and maintain the ServiceNow Discovery application.
It belongs to what ServiceNow calls its mainline certifications: proctored exams that, in ServiceNow’s words, validate your ability to apply key ServiceNow knowledge and skills for products or roles. Passing the exam awards the CIS-DISCO certification together with a Credly digital badge you can show online.
In practice this is a credential for people who set up and run Discovery on real instances: implementation consultants, ITOM administrators and platform owners who are responsible for keeping the CMDB filled with accurate data about infrastructure.

What is on the CIS-Discovery exam?
ServiceNow describes the scope through four abilities a certified person should have. These are the clearest public statement of what the CIS-Discovery exam tests:
- Design and troubleshoot patterns
- Manage Discovery processes and schedules
- Maintain the CMDB
- Ensure operational readiness

How to read the CIS-Discovery skills list
Each of the four abilities is broader than it looks. Patterns are how Discovery identifies and maps what it finds, so “design and troubleshoot” means you should be able to read a pattern, understand why it produced a given result and fix it if the result is wrong.
Managing processes and schedules covers the operational side: when Discovery runs, against which ranges, with which credentials, and what you do when a run returns errors or incomplete data. Maintaining the CMDB is the reason Discovery exists in the first place, so expect to reason about the quality of the configuration items it creates and updates.
Operational readiness is the least concrete of the four. Read it as the question of whether a Discovery implementation can be handed over and run reliably, not just switched on once. ServiceNow’s exam blueprint breaks these areas down further with weightings; it is the document to study from once you have access in ServiceNow University.

How much does the CIS-Discovery exam cost?
ServiceNow publishes the price of its mainline certification exams in a ServiceNow University knowledge article titled “Cost of Mainline certification exams”. That article could not be read on the public web for this page, so we do not quote a figure.
Prices for ServiceNow exams circulate on community blogs and training sites, but they are not ServiceNow’s own statement and may describe an older pricing model. Confirm the current fee, the retake fee and any partner discount in your ServiceNow University account before you register.

CIS-Discovery exam format, questions and passing score
What ServiceNow states publicly is that CIS-DISCO is a proctored exam. The number of questions, the time limit, the passing score and the domain weightings are defined in the CIS-Discovery mainline exam blueprint, a knowledge article in ServiceNow University that could not be read on the public web for this page.
For that reason this page gives no number of questions, no duration and no passing percentage. Read the blueprint in ServiceNow University before you book; it is the only source that describes the current version of the exam.

CIS-Discovery prerequisites and training
ServiceNow University bundles the preparation into a learning path called IT Operations Management (ITOM) Discovery Implementer. ServiceNow describes it as providing all required and recommended training and exams to become a ServiceNow Certified Discovery Implementation Specialist.
The wording matters: the path contains required training as well as recommended items. Which courses are mandatory before you can register, and whether another certification must be held first, is set out on the path and the exam page inside ServiceNow University. Those details could not be read publicly, so this page does not list them. Check them in your account before you plan a date.

How to register for the CIS-Discovery exam
Registration runs through ServiceNow University. The CIS-DISCO certification page links to a “Register for Exam” page, which ServiceNow describes as covering the exam’s purpose, audience, recommended experience, registration process and key policies.
The same certification page links to ServiceNow’s Credentialing Program Guide. Read the policies before booking, especially the rules on retakes and on what happens to your certification over time, because those are the details most likely to change between ServiceNow releases.

CIS-Discovery vs other ServiceNow mainline certifications
ServiceNow’s mainline certifications are proctored exams tied to a product or role. The Certified Implementation Specialist exams are the product-specific part of that group: each one focuses on implementing a single application area, here Discovery within IT Operations Management.
If your work is broader platform administration rather than ITOM, a different mainline certification may fit better. If you implement or run Discovery, CIS-Discovery is the credential that names exactly that skill set.

ServiceNow CIS-Discovery exam dumps
Dumps are not a reliable way to prepare for CIS-Discovery. They cannot show whether the answers match the current blueprint, and they skip the part the exam is about: knowing why a pattern fails or why a configuration item ends up wrong in the CMDB.
ServiceNow maintains its own certification invalidation process, but the article describing it could not be read on the public web, so this page makes no claim about the specific consequences. Prepare from the learning path, the blueprint and hands-on work on an instance.
CIS-Discovery practice questions
Certsqill’s CIS-Discovery practice questions are expert-developed and come with an explanation for every answer option, so a wrong answer tells you which idea you misread, not just that you missed it.
Your results build a readiness score per exam domain, which shows whether patterns, schedules, CMDB maintenance or operational readiness is holding you back before you spend money on the real exam. Every plan comes with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
