What is the Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification?
Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer is a Google Cloud professional-level certification. The exam guide describes the role as someone who implements processes and capabilities throughout the systems development lifecycle using Google-recommended methodologies and tools.
In practice it covers the people who run delivery and reliability on Google Cloud: setting up the organisation and environments, building CI/CD pipelines, applying site reliability engineering, instrumenting services and keeping performance and cost in check. The certification page assesses exactly those abilities, and its CI/CD scope explicitly includes machine-learning workloads alongside application and infrastructure pipelines.
It sits at the professional tier above Cloud Digital Leader and Associate Cloud Engineer; neither is required first.

How much does the Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification cost?
The registration fee is $200, plus tax where applicable.
Google’s exam terms state that payment is required each time you take an exam, so a retake costs $200 again. Attempts are limited to four in two years, with a 14-day wait after a first failed attempt, 60 days after a second and 365 days after a third.
There is no shorter or cheaper renewal exam for this certification in Google’s renewal FAQ. Keeping the credential means passing the standard exam again at the full fee every two years.

What is the Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer exam format?
Google states 50 to 60 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions in two hours. On multiple-select items you need every correct option, which matters on pipeline and alerting questions where two answers can each be partly right.
You can take the exam online-proctored from a remote location, or onsite-proctored at a testing center. It is offered in English and Japanese.
No labs are listed. Expect scenarios about rollouts, error budgets, alerting, logs and cost, where the task is to choose the approach Google recommends rather than any approach that would work.

Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer passing score
Google does not publish a passing score for this exam, on the certification page or in the exam guide. A specific percentage seen elsewhere does not come from Google.
For preparation, plan for coverage: two sections each carry about a quarter of the exam, but the smaller performance-and-cost section at around 12 per cent still decides enough questions to matter when the line is unknown.

What is on the Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer exam?
Bootstrapping covers designing the resource hierarchy, managing infrastructure, designing a CI/CD architecture stack across Google Cloud, hybrid and multi-cloud, managing multiple environments such as staging and production, and enabling secure cloud development environments.
CI/CD covers designing, implementing and managing pipelines, handling pipeline configuration and secrets, and securing the deployment pipeline. SRE covers balancing change, velocity and reliability, managing the service lifecycle and mitigating incident impact on users. Observability covers telemetry, logs, metrics, dashboards and alerts, distributed traces and troubleshooting. Performance and cost covers collecting performance information and implementing FinOps practices.
Google publishes five sections with approximate weightings:
- Bootstrapping and maintaining a Google Cloud organization — ~20%
- Building and implementing CI/CD pipelines, including continuous testing, for application, infrastructure, and machine learning workloads — ~25%
- Applying site reliability engineering practices — ~18%
- Implementing observability practices and troubleshooting issues — ~25%
- Optimizing performance and cost — ~12%

Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer prerequisites
Google lists the prerequisites as “None”. No earlier certification, degree or minimum experience has to be shown to book the exam.
The recommended experience is three or more years of industry experience, including one or more years designing and managing production systems using Google Cloud. Note the wording: production systems, not just solutions — the exam assumes you have operated something live.

How long is the Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification valid?
Google’s exam terms state that a professional certification is valid for two years from the date of issue unless the exam description says otherwise; the certification page sets no other period and refers to the renewal FAQs.
The renewal FAQs list no shorter renewal exam for this certification and mark continuing-education renewal as coming soon. You renew by passing the exam again; the window opens 60 days before the certification becomes inactive, and a successful renewal adds two years.

Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer study guide and training
Google’s certification page lists the official preparation: the exam guide, which contains the complete list of topics; the Cloud DevOps Engineer learning path in Google Skills; sample questions that show the question format; and a partner training path for Google Cloud partners.
The same page points to Google’s own background reading — the DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) programme, Google’s site reliability engineering books, Google Cloud documentation and Google Cloud solutions. For the SRE section in particular, those books are the source of the vocabulary the exam uses.

Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer vs Professional Cloud Developer
Both are Google Cloud professional certifications with the same exam frame: two hours, 50 to 60 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions, $200 plus tax and no prerequisites.
Google describes a Professional Cloud Developer as someone who builds and configures scalable, secure applications; that exam assesses designing cloud-native applications, building and testing them, configuring them for deployment and integrating them with Google Cloud services. The DevOps Engineer exam is about the system around the code: pipelines, reliability practice, observability and cost. The recommended experience differs too — the Developer page asks for experience designing and managing solutions, the DevOps page for production systems.

Exam dumps and Google’s exam terms
Google’s exam terms do not use the word “dump”, but they cover the same ground. Exam content — questions, answers and any communication about the exam — is Google’s confidential information, and candidates may not use or access “any unauthorized Exam content shared by someone else, including content that you find online”.
The consequences are written into the terms: Google may invalidate exam results, revoke any or all of your certifications and suspend or permanently bar you from the program, and it refunds no testing fees in that case. A dump is also simply unreliable — you have no way to check whether its answers are right.
