PMI-ACP certification: exam format, requirements and domains
PMI-ACP is the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner credential. The exam has 120 questions — 100 scored, 20 unscored — in 180 minutes, across four domains: Mindset, Leadership, Product and Delivery. To apply you need agile experience (or PMP) and 21 hours of agile training; PMI publishes no single price and no passing score.

What is the PMI-ACP certification?
PMI-ACP stands for PMI Agile Certified Practitioner. It is the agile credential of PMI, the Project Management Institute, and it is deliberately framework-agnostic: rather than certifying one method, it tests agile practices, frameworks and methodologies as a whole, organised into four domains — Mindset, Leadership, Product and Delivery.
It is aimed at practitioners who already work in agile settings. That is visible in the entry gate: PMI asks for agile experience, or a PMP, plus formal agile training, before you can sit the exam. It is not an introductory certificate.
Within PMI’s portfolio it sits beside PMP rather than below it. PMP is the broad project management credential; PMI-ACP is the agile specialisation, and PMI accepts an active PMP as one of the ways to meet the PMI-ACP experience requirement.

How much does the PMI-ACP certification cost?
PMI does not publish a single PMI-ACP exam price on the certification page or in the PMI-ACP Handbook. The Handbook states that the fees are subject to membership and regional pricing, that the PMI membership rate applies only to members in good standing, and that membership is not required to obtain the credential.
The figure you actually pay therefore depends on your membership status and your region, and it appears during the application. We would rather say PMI publishes no single number than repeat one from a third-party site as if PMI had.
Two further costs to plan for: the Handbook states that reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts, and the training requirement — 21 hours — is a separate expense unless you already hold qualifying training.

What is the PMI-ACP exam format?
The PMI-ACP exam has 120 items: 100 scored and 20 unscored pre-test items. PMI states that the unscored items are not identified and are distributed randomly through the exam, so you have to treat every question as if it counts.
You have 180 minutes — three hours. The item types go beyond plain multiple choice: the Examination Content Outline lists multiple-choice, multiple-response, drag-and-drop-style items and exhibits. A multiple-response item that you get half right is still wrong, so practise reading every option.
You sit the exam through Pearson VUE, either in person at a testing center, which PMI marks as recommended, or securely online. After approval you have a one-year eligibility period and may attempt the exam up to three times within it.

PMI-ACP passing score
PMI does not publish a PMI-ACP passing score. The Handbook states only that the passing score for all PMI exams is determined by sound psychometric analysis. Any percentage you find quoted as the PMI-ACP pass mark does not come from PMI.
Without a published cut score, the useful planning number is the domain weighting. Mindset and Delivery carry 28% each, Leadership 25%, Product 19% — no domain is small enough to skip, and the 20 unscored items mean you cannot even count how many questions you need to get right.

What is on the PMI-ACP exam?
PMI’s current Examination Content Outline defines four domains. The cover is dated November 2024, and the page header reads March 2026; the certification page shows the same four domains and weightings.
Mindset and Delivery together make up 56% of the scored items, so the exam leans on how you think and how you ship rather than on terminology alone. Product, at 19%, is the smallest domain but still a substantial share of the exam — enough to decide a borderline result.
- Domain I. Mindset — 28%
- Domain II. Leadership — 25%
- Domain III. Product — 19%
- Domain IV. Delivery — 28%

PMI-ACP requirements and eligibility
PMI lists three requirements. First, a high school (or secondary school) diploma or higher. Second, agile experience, met in one of four ways: 2 years of agile experience within the past 5 years; a degree from a GAC-accredited programme plus 1 year of agile experience; a third-party agile certification plus 1 year of agile experience; or a PMP certification.
Third, 21 hours of formal training in agile practices, frameworks and methodologies. PMI accepts its own PMI Authorized PMI-ACP Exam Prep Course, a course from an Authorized Training Partner, or third-party training courses.
The experience rule is the one to check carefully before you apply: the two-year route only counts agile experience from the past five years, while a PMP or a third-party agile certification shortens or replaces it.

How long is the PMI-ACP valid?
PMI-ACP runs on a three-year cycle that starts on the day you pass the exam. To maintain it, PMI requires 30 professional development units (PDUs) in each 3-year cycle.
Thirty PDUs is half the PMP requirement, but the principle is the same: report them through PMI during the cycle, not at the last minute, because a lapsed credential has to be dealt with on PMI’s terms.

PMI-ACP study materials and training
The scope document is PMI’s PMI-ACP Examination Content Outline. It lists the tasks under each of the four domains and is the reference against which any course or question set should be checked. Check the date on any material against the outline’s date before you rely on it.
PMI offers its own PMI Authorized PMI-ACP Exam Prep Course, and Authorized Training Partners deliver prep courses as well; both count towards the 21 training hours. The PMI-ACP Handbook covers the procedural side: application, eligibility period, retakes and certification maintenance.

PMI-ACP vs PMP
PMP is PMI’s broad project management certification; PMI-ACP is PMI’s agile certification. They are not two rungs of one ladder: PMI-ACP does not require PMP, and PMP does not require PMI-ACP.
They do connect in one direction. PMI lists an active PMP certification as one of the four ways to satisfy the PMI-ACP experience requirement, so a PMP holder needs only the secondary diploma and the 21 hours of agile training on top. For someone without PMP, the PMI-ACP route is the agile-experience one — two years within the past five, or one year with a qualifying degree or third-party agile certification.

PMI-ACP practice questions
Certsqill’s PMI-ACP practice questions carry an explanation for every option, weighted the way PMI weights the exam — Mindset and Delivery 28% each, Leadership 25%, Product 19% — including the multiple-response style that punishes partial answers.

Is the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner certification worth it?
PMI makes its own case on the PMI-ACP page: it states that 86% of PMI-ACPs qualified for new opportunities and 84% gained recognition for career advancement. PMI gives no survey name or sample size next to those figures, so read them as PMI’s claim rather than independent data.
Whether it is worth it for you comes down to what it costs to get there. The PMI-ACP certification requirements ask for agile experience (or a PMP) and 21 hours of agile training before you can even apply. Against that, weigh the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner certification cost: an exam fee PMI sets by membership and region, the training hours, and 30 PDUs in every three-year cycle to keep it.

PMI-ACP salary: what PMI does and does not publish
PMI’s PMI-ACP page gives no PMI Agile Certified Practitioner salary figure, checked 9 October 2026. A PMI-ACP salary quoted elsewhere does not come from PMI, and it mixes the credential with role, region and experience.
We would rather say that than repeat a number we cannot source. The figures PMI does publish for the credential are the 86% and 84% career statements above.

PMI agile certifications: where PMI-ACP fits
PMI-ACP is not PMI’s only agile credential. PMI’s Disciplined Agile certifications page lists five PMI agile certifications: Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM), Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master (DASSM), Disciplined Agile Coach (DAC), Disciplined Agile Value Stream Consultant (DAVSC), and PMI-ACP.
If you were looking for a PMI agile Scrum Master certification, PMI-ACP is not that: it is framework-agnostic and tests agile practice as a whole across Mindset, Leadership, Product and Delivery. On PMI’s list, the Scrum Master credential is DASM.

PMI-ACP exam simulator and practice exam options
A full-length PMI-ACP simulation test should match the real conditions: 120 items in 180 minutes, including multiple-response, drag-and-drop-style items and exhibits, weighted Mindset 28%, Leadership 25%, Product 19% and Delivery 28%. Anything shorter is a quiz, not a simulation.
PMI’s own option is PMI Study Hall for PMI-ACP. PMI lists one full practice exam, three mini practice exams of 10 questions each, 50 extra practice questions, flashcards, lessons, videos and a learning plan, with three months of access from activation. PMI does not describe it as an exam simulator, and the store page does not state how many questions the full practice exam has.
Certsqill’s practice questions for the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner exam are expert-developed, explain every answer option and are weighted by the four domains of the official outline.

PMI-ACP exam questions and dumps
Collections sold as PMI-ACP dumps promise real exam content. They are not reliable preparation: you cannot know whether their answers are right, or whether they match the current Examination Content Outline, dated November 2024. Good PMI-ACP test questions explain why each option is right or wrong, so you learn the reasoning PMI tests rather than memorising answers.

The PMI-ACP syllabus
PMI does not use the word syllabus. The document that defines what the exam covers is the PMI-ACP Examination Content Outline, which lists the tasks under each of the four domains. Use it to check any course or PMI-ACP practice test you consider: if it does not map onto the outline, it is preparing you for something else.
The procedural side — application, the one-year eligibility period, up to three attempts, and when your certification cycle starts — is in the PMI-ACP Handbook.
